It’s unfortunate that it has to get to this, but I’ve noticed that speaking English and just generally acting foreign will get you so much better service with less begging.

This started when people kept thinking I was not Kenyan. Now I think usually initially I find myself speaking in English to someone until they change that. So a lot of the time they ask whether I don’t speak Swahili and where I’m from, if we meet often enough for it to get to that.

Anyway, I decided as a social experiment that if I get an uber, I will speak English the whole time. Using this method, exactly zero drivers have asked for extra money. And they’re always so pleasant. One even was telling me about how good uber is because it gave me a significant discount 👀.

In restaurants, pull the same shit. They’ll think they’re dealing with a foreigner. If I go to a new club I’ll also just do the same.

Obviously don’t attempt if you have an easily recognizable accent like central Kenyan, Luo, or luhya, lol.

I’m so tired . I woke up today in the middle of the night as the bed on the other side was creaking. It is creaking now 😭😭😭. It has creaked thrice today and I wasn’t even at home all day. I’d even be willing to help them get another bed at this rate. My sleep is suffering 😭

So as mentioned in the title, my neighbor needs a sturdy bed.

Every single day that I’m home, I hear creaking. And the walls are thick but then out bedrooms are separated by this wall. I suspect he/she has one of those metallic beds with springs that creak because this isn’t just creaking

It’s not particularly loud like you won’t hear it by the corridor but it drives me crazy in my room. Are people enjoying themselves every day?😭 Sometimes it even wakes me up.

EDIT: No form of birth control is 100% effective. Contraception can fail, even when it's used correctly. So don't reduce abortion to "they should've just used protection" or blame women when a pregnancy happens anyway.
