How to optimize Gemini for coding?

I just got free Gemini + 400 GB Google Drive for 12 months.

I’ve been using Claude for my work for the past few months. I’ve been very satisfied with it. Even the Claude Sonnet is already good enough for me.

But with Gemini plan, I think I will unsubscribe my Claude plan to save some money. But I’m not sure how good Gemini is for coding (mainly BE using Golang in fintech industry). Is there any suggestion to optimize it?

Is there any skill I can use? Is it able to connect to MCP? Can the standard Gemini plan be connected to third party harness?

In case someone argues me against unsubscribing. I live in a third world country. Claude plan for 12 months costs 1/3 of my monthly salary. And it’d keep increasing because the currency is so fucking weak.

Best Efforts categories beyond 50k?

As ultramarathon becomes more popular, and we see more recreational runners achieve beyond 50k. Will Strava release Best Efforts categories beyond 50k? Such as 50 miles, 75k, 100k, and 100 miles.

I’m not an ultramarathoner yet. But I plan taking on a 50k trail race next year and then beyond that.

I would also like to see an ultramarathoner account and check their ultra records without having to scroll down so much.

Strava-Hevy Sync Issue

So I discovered several issues with Strava sync lately

  1. Workout when smartwatch HR is recorded partially

So, I use Huawei Watch. The HR data syncs to Apple Health. I assume Hevy tracks the HR data from Apple Health. But, somehow, Hevy only records the HR in the short time range.

So let’s say I do workout for 40 minutes from 10.00 AM. I always wear the watch. But somehow, Hevy only records the HR in the last 20 minutes. It doesn’t record the HR in the first 20 minutes. I’m not sure if the problem is with Hevy or with Apple Health. This has happened several times.

And there’s an issue regarding this with the Strava sync. Strava only records the time when the HR is recorded. So, the Time inputted in Strava is 20 minutes instead of 40 minutes.

  1. Updating Hevy workout after uploaded to Strava

So, sometimes I forget to add an exercise in the first log record. I usually just turn it on at the start of the workout and input them in the end of the workout.

So, after I submit the record, and then it posts to Strava. I will update the Hevy record and more exercises again. But during this update, Strava only updates the title and the description. It doesn’t add the new exercise. Hence, the volume log on the Strava post will be lower than the actual Hevy log (let’s say the original post records 3000kg volume, and then I add new exercise worth of 250kg, Strava doesn’t take the new 250kg load).

So, is there a way to fix this issue? Would removing Strava post and then update the Hevy log again trigger a new post to Strava?

Uploading photo in the past activities. Why does it sometimes go to the top of Photo Grids?

So, I’ve been uploading photos to my past activities. Mainly the ones with friends.

But I notice on the Photo Grids (the ones on the main profile page) that sometimes it’s uploaded to the top of the activity (it becomes the latest photo). And sometimes it’s uploaded to the correct timeframe.

Let’s say I already have photos in July activities. And then I uploaded a photo on one of June activity. Sometimes on the Photo Grids, it’s positioned ahead of July photos (basically become the latest photo). And sometimes it’s positioned before any of July photos (need to scroll down the photo grid).

Why is this the case? What if I wanna make sure the photos positioned in the correct timeframe? So the latest photos are always the latest and past photos are in the past.

I have checked the photo time metadata and it has the correct date too.

Feedback for my Strength Training

I just started strength training using random exercises I found on internet. It’s all over the top and I’m not sure if it’s effective and I’m not sure if my form is correct.

My objective currently is to reduce the pain around my leg during a run (runners knee or ITBS). It usually happens after a continuous run of 5k. And then pain around knee would come and go along the run until 10k. I’ll go slower or walk when I feel it, and then run again when it disappears.

Another issue is with my arch/heel. It feels sore but not continuously. I don’t know if it’s plantar fasciitis or not. I know it happens when I lace my shoes too tight. It will disappear when I loosen the lace. What a weird symptoms.

So this is my program for ST. Anyone can give me feedback? What to drop or add?

Squat: 3x15

Walking Lunges: 3x10. I feel like pain on my knee but not very long and not continuous, it comes and goes, is it because of bad form?

Lunges: 3x10. Similar knee pain.

Glute Bridge: 1x15, DNF because sharp pain on hamstring

Calf Raises: 3x15. The easiest

Tibialis Raises: 3x15. Also easy. But my shin feels tight and burnt in the end of each set (DOMS or bad form?).

Single Leg RDL (no weight): 1x10 each leg. Didn’t continue because my form and stability are very bad.

Single Leg Band Curl: 3x10 each leg. 4 kg band. Manageable but I don’t like it because the band is annoying.

Plank: 1min and then 30 secs

Wall Sit: 2x30 secs

Udah kapok make TWS. Ada saran?

sumpah gw udah enek banget sama TWS, entah gw yg emang teledor atau gimana tapi sering banget kena sial sama TWS

gw mungkin udah habis jutaan buat ganti2 TWS karena kesialan

nih track record kesialan gw sama TWS (bulan adalah bulan pembelian based on e-commerce data)z

Agustus 2022: Fiil T1 Lite. 499rb. Somehow tiba2 ga nyala sebelah.

January 2023: Soundpeats Truengine 3SE. 519rb. Ilang sebelah.

January 2024: Soundcore Dot Life. 567rb. Casenya ketinggalan di family mart.

Februari 2025: Soundcore A30i. 300rb. Baterai tiba2 soak. Dari full sampe empty cuman itungan menit. Idk kenapa.

Oktober 2025: Earfun Free Pro 3. 680rb. Ilang sebelah.

December 2025: Earfun Air Pro 4i. 460rb.

Dijual kagak laku. Nyari yg jual sebelah juga susah. Barang setengah juta langsung jadi rongsokan karena kesialan doang. Barang2 gw yg lain (hp, gadget yg lain, barang2 fashion, dll) kagak ada yg sefast moving ini.

Sekarang gw lagi ga make TWS apa2 karena udah males banget belinya.

Ada saran sebaiknya gimana? Gw udah kapok banget beli TWS. Tapi gw tetep perlu TWS yg bisa noise cancel buat meeting online di luar. Sama buat dengerin lagu di kantor.

Kalo beli kabel entar kabelnya yg gampang putus. Apalagi hp & laptop gw kagak ada jack port. Jadi musti beli adaptor lagi yg berpotensi ngurangin kualitas suara.

Tambah lagi sering gw pake lari & ngegym. Repot make yg kabelan. Don’t tell me to buy shokz for running specific because I’m broke.

Is it too big?

I just got my Vomero Plus 3 weeks ago. Bought size EU 42.5 / US 9 / 26 cm on sale. I wanted to go for EU 42 (my usual casual shoes size) but it was out of stock.

Decided to go upsize by half because I read that we should upsize the running shoes due to the inflating feet or whatever. When I tried it out, I felt it fit just fine. So I went with it.

I also have a Vomero 5 with size 42, but it feels too tight and narrow so I kinda thought this might have similar sizing and I don’t feel like I should run with a narrow shoes. Yeah I shouldn’t have used it as reference considering it’s a casual shoes.

Now, after running with it for like 40 km (2 10k, and a couple of 5k). The extra space in the front feels too spacious. Is this normal or is this too big? I also feel like I can’t seem to tighten these shoes to the right fit.

What’s funny is that I got 2 10k PBs in a row with this lol. But my previous running shoes are too firm tho.

Btw, what I pointed on the pic is where my longest toe ends with my heel fully touches the back of the shoes.

Is this HR zone too high?

I’m 27M who started running late last year. Normal BMI but a bit skinny. Never had any sport activity before that.

I’ve been using this HRR zone for my training because many people say it’s the most accurate. But I’m not really sure. Is this in normal range or is it too high?

My Zone 2 HR ranges from 159 to 172 BPM.

I saw many people that 160s is too high for the zone 2. It’s the zone 3 territory and I should lower my Zone 2 training to 150s.

And because 140-150s is basically within the Zone 1 territory (based on this HRR range). I’ve been running within Zone 1 for many of my easy runs.

My 150-160s HR zone would let me run on pace 8 min/km. Sometimes it goes lower to 140s on the similar pace very briefly.

I’m wondering. Is this the correct approach? Does Zone 1 training (if the HRR range is accurate) gives any benefit?

Or should I do Zone 2 easy runs to 170 BPM just like what the range says?

Strava Elapsed Time Issue

It should be 1 hour (as shown on Hevy), but Strava only shows 8 minutes.

Why does this happen? Any way to fix it?

I already tried editing exercises (to trigger sync update) but still not fixed.

How to exclude activity from achievements and best efforts?

In February, I had a 5k race under heavy rain. My smartwatch GPS was malfunction for around 1 mile. It tracked the run since the start line, but the GPS didn’t start until 1 mile.

I couldn’t verify the result. But the record result was quite surprising. I basically hit PB in all effort distance till 5k. And it still stays true to this day.

I thought the record was true because it make sense in the first glance, I went all out after all. But to this day, I’m still unable to beat any of them.

I started running in late November, so in February I still struggled with spiking HR and prone to knee pain. I did the race with many run-walks too. Now I’m able to run 8k continuously, and can run 5k intervals with no knee pain, but somehow none of them can beat that race effort

No matter how much I have improved, even with fastest interval and threshold I can reach, I still couldn’t beat any of those records. Even my multiple fastest 400m intervals haven’t reached that 400m effort on that race. And that’s with the better form, HR, and physique after 6 months since that race.

I believe there was something wrong with the record due to the rain or the malfunctioning GPS. And now I wanna exclude that race from any of my achievements, best efforts, and PB. But I still want it to be shown on my activity list.

Is there a way to do it?

Why does my VO2 Max keep getting lower?

I started running November last year.

The initial VO2 Max was around 43. It stayed 40-43 until around March.

But for whatever reasons, it keeps getting worse since April. It keeps decreasing from 39 and now it reached 35.

I don’t smoke. My running performance keep getting better. I can run 5k without stopping now. I have reached 10k (with a bit of run walk tho) a few times. My knees and legs don’t hurt that much anymore. I think my avg HR is getting lower too. I also started hitting gym a couple weeks ago. But somehow the VO2 max keeps getting worse.

Whats happening? Why does it just keep getting worse?

Or are the watches the problem here? I wear Huawei Watch Fit 3.

Which watches have direct integration with Strava?

I mean the ones that show up on the activity post like these.

Besides these 4, I think Fitbit also has direct integration?

Also, does Apple Watch have direct integration? I don’t think I’ve seen it on Strava.

I currently wear a Huawei watch. It can sync to Strava but the watch name doesn’t show up like this.

I’m a beginner runner who just started running 6 months ago.

My usual HR is around 165 for 5k. And that’s with run walk with pace 8-9 min/km because sometimes it spikes to 180 and had to slow down or stop.

But today, somehow the HR is low. It’s consistently around 130s to 150s. And the final avg HR is 145. And this is me pushing myself too. The final pace was at 7.13 min/km for 5k straight without stopping or walking. I basically hit a PB out of nowhere.

This is very weird. Is there any inaccuracy here?

For context, I just started hitting the gym yesterday. It was my first time working out. And it was a pull move set. But I don’t think it would bring down my HR that much.

How do I know if the HR measurement was correct? Is there a way to recalibrate it before my next run?
