I get mixed reactions when I ask people if they would vibe here

this was a silly image I made when developing my own game (so no this isn't a real place). I asked around if people would vibe here and either got "no that place looks terrifying" or "yea I would vibe"

would you vibe here?

thoughts about using an AI to sort through 3D asset packs and judge suitably for game use

the idea is to give an LLM with a projection model (imagine recognition) a bunch of 3D assets files and the ability to see how they actually are instead of relying off file names alone. then based on a description of what your game, what setting your looking for and images of concept art or prototype screenshots. it can then use that to make a collection of possible useful 3d assets for your game.

for future context whenever I refer to "assets" I normal mean stuff like 3d models or meshes

the tool would be used to sort through a dump of asset packs and single assets you have already downloaded. and recycle them for you to help save on time on getting a bunch of new assets for your project.

it would also rename assets for you based on what the AI thinks they are (through the use of screenshots it takes)

so say if a asset is called "download2816hdbe.gtl" and it's a mesh of a chair. it will flag said asset as needing further investigation and then later on if you give it free time you can let it comb through flagged assets to try to define what they are and what it could potentially be renamed to. so it could sort through your collection a bit faster next time you use it.

for someone like me who just has alot of asset packs laying around that I haven't explored. it would be useful to have something like this sort through the plethora of assets I could use

I would like to have your thoughts on if I should even invest time into making this tool as i know the general attitude people have towards using ai in any form of game development.

first game. torn between making it vr exclusive or PC compatible

I'm making my first steam game however I'm torn between making my game a vr exclusive or PC compatible

for future reference. when I say I will add my game to pc. it means people will also be able to play it without a vr. The game will run off steamvr so it will always technically be on pc

This is a poolrooms horror game. (if you do not know what the poolrooms are. it's a fan made level based off the backrooms, popularised by Kane pixels)

The game is intended to be played in vr and I have several reasons why I wanted it to be a vr exclusive:

-the atmosphere and overall gameplay wouldn't be the best it can be without being in vr.

-the game would need a somewhat powerful PC to run smoothly. this kind of pc would have the minimum specs to run vr anyway. (nothing to crazy just anything that isn't a potato)

-a vr exclusive poolrooms game would set apart my game from all the other backrooms games.

-if I released my game to PC im afraid that people will judge the game based on its pc version of which I won't be actively working on as much. given the true experience would be on vr and PC would be just a compatibility option.

-some current mechanics and planned mechanics would need to be changed to account for PC. (eg like inventory, item interactions ect)

I'm torn between making it pc compatible for the following reasons:

-i understand not everyone can afford or have a vr

-the game won't be able to be enjoyed by as many people. sure there are alot of aspects reliant on vr but at it's core you could still play it on PC and still enjoy it.

-first game so I'm scared it will flop because it wasn't pc compatible.

-there are alot of people who have a pc who could run said game but don't have a vr.

-it wouldn't be as enjoyable for me to develop the game from a PC standpoint. I like the challenge developing for vr presents aswell as the cool stuff I can do for vr

what do you guys think. can I get feedback on this?

I need game testers! [into the deep end]

hello! I'm making a vr game about the poolrooms! (more specifically level 37.1 "the deep end")

I need people who can test the game while I'm developing it! (to find bugs and report on their experience)

requirements

YOU NEED A VR and a capable pc. this runs off steam.

if you have a oculus that counts towards the vr part

and be mildly available (like play video games at least once or twice weekly)

if you are interested in becoming part of the playtest team. here is the discord. you will be given a role to indicate your interested in playtesting.

https://discord.gg/nw6xvWAKg

once you get accepted you will be given a steam key to the playtest where the testing branch is. (this will receive updates!)

if I don't respond right away that's prolly cuz I'm busy but I will get you

im making a backrooms vr game. its a horror game exploring a variant of the backrooms (an arg that anyone who's familiar to Kane pixels and his upcoming movie would know) i have about 25 slots for game testers. and i operate roughly uct +10 (though this wont really matter).

all i require is game tester's who are relativley free enough to test latest build's and record some media. though as the title says you will need a pc setup capable of running steam vr to test said game. anyone who helps test said my game will receive a free version of it on full release. however currently I don't know when that will be.

if u wanna join -https://discord.gg/enUwFwsw6 here is a discord link to the server. you should automatically be given a role that says u want to help test. if U do up joining the test team. u will be given a steam key to the playtest to have until full release.

thanks cya!
