I’ve picked up this Yamaha PSS-50 not so long ago. It was in mint condition and plays fantastic. People say it’s a toy keyboard, but for me it’s nowhere near as cheap-feeling as the tiny Casios I have. Anyway - here is a jam with this beast where I’ve used 3 different voices. (Also that USB to DC power step up unit is fantastic! Works amazingly with any 9/12V units - I’ve bought it on Aliexpress)
A simple live take with this tiny setup. I love compact dawless setups - always curious what kind of ambient textures can come out of them. The hero for me is the NTS-3 which I've got not so long ago and fell in love with right away. Beautiful reverb and delay sounds... such a small package with a huge punch
Initially I've got the PO-12 as my first PO, but I've felt that the sounds there are very specific so I've tried the PO-33. The drum samples I've used are from 99sounds (free pack) and the melodic sample is just a chord from a Yamaha PSS-A50 synth. I'm still learning how to use it properly but it's an amazing piece of instrument.
This was my first time using Ambiotica (highly recommended). Beautiful granular ambient machine! The other stuff I’ve used wasn’t new to me but I’m still amazed how versatile they are (more specifically: Eventide Blackhole, OtherDesertCities and Rymdigare).
I love how the "Piano" setting can sound with reverb—it punches way above the toy keyboard league. Having such a tiny keyboard at hand is a blessing because it allows me to create short song sketches while sitting on the couch and noodling with it.
Another simple setup with Loopy - and this time I didn't use any plugin inside the app as well. This this app is the most inspiring kit in my musical arsenal and I just love and adore how versatile and customisable it is.
Just got the guitar on the right which is a Harley Benton Custom Line CLGS-10S travel guitar. My only problem with it is that I didn’t buy it sooner. Perfect couch guitar with beautiful sound. The Cort is for size reference - that guitar will go. It was super, but the comfort level on the HB is much better. No arms up high, no weird positions. Oh and it has a solid top.
First "official round" with the Phara o Mini synth. I've bought it to learn the basic synth stuff and love making sounds with it (especially with effect pedals or VSTs). This time I've made a simple song / sketch with live looping in the mighty Loopy Pro (I've used some effects and a drum machine while making it).
Lo-fi ambient experiment with the help of Loopy pro and some effects inside that. I have this Stylophone for a while now and it's just great to fool around with. With the right effects I was able to create a lush pad, and once that was done and the drums were going I've tuned back the effects so the classic sound can emerge.
In order to fit the PO-12 into a case I had to clip the top and after that …well I’ve made it into a “pocket operator” after some sanding and smoothing.
Another session with the Weeping Wall app, but this time with the cheap old keyboard - the Casio SA-20. I've used Rymdigare as the main effect, then the next node in AUM was the Weeping Wall granular looper set to macro mode (which allows longer loops), then washed away the sounds with the Eventide Blackhole. Fantastic setup, I'll definitely try something with software synths and guitars as well.
I've used a fantastic app called "Weeping Wall" which is a set of microloopers to make an ever evolving soundscape with a kalimba. AUM was used as a host and inside that I've used the AudioKit Rack Reverb, then the Weeping Wall looper and the line was closed with the Eventide Blackhole reverb. In post I've increased the gain a bit and applied compression.
Fun little practice board with the Valeton GP-5 and the Nux Loop Core Stereo. I cut off a piece of plywood and painted it. The power is via a daisy chain cable which works just fine with these two pedals (no noise), and I can power it with a powerbank (with a 9v usb adapter). The Valeton is set up in song mode with only two presets so I can switch between a clean and a distortion sound.
A solution for the infamous PO battery “issue”, which might be useful to someone:
I didn’t want to keep buying alkaline batteries so I gave a shot to these USB rechargeable lithium batteries. To make the charging easier I’ve added magnetic charging adapters to them. While charging the unit turns off (blank screen).
I've modded this cheap and old Casio with an output jack and then added some reverb and delay to it in Loopy Pro. Sounds used: Violin + piano and the Quena.
Put a piezo disc on my Enya Nova U mini and played it flat on the table like a piano (I know 😅). Ran the signal through a preamp and into Loopy Pro on my phone (which was loaded with some ambient effects). Anyone else been experimenting with pickups on ukes?
