"Invite to community" option is missing when I check the profile of a Redditor

When I click on a user profile, and then click on the 3 dots on the upper right corner, the only options available are:

- Share

- Block Account

- Report Profile

This happens on the web-version and when I use a mobile phone's browser.

Should I be doing this on the mobile app?

We really should demand our government for a better social media platform accountability, sa dami ng issues involving them.

July 19, 2025 marked the creation of r/FilipinosBannedByMeta, a support group for Filipinos affected by the recent wave of Meta account bans, which many members believe coincided with Meta's transition toward AI-assisted verification and enforcement. The community is also active on Telegram, where members discuss ways to recover their Facebook and Instagram accounts. Many of them are business owners who rely on Meta's platforms for communication, marketing, and promoting their businesses.

For some, the consequences go beyond losing access to social media. They have also lost access to precious memories stored in their Facebook albums, including years of photos of their children.

In Filipino culture, it is common for families to document their children's lives through photos and share them with relatives and friends online. When an account is disabled, many of those memories become inaccessible. Unfortunately, Meta's automated systems do not appear to fully account for the importance of this aspect of our culture.

There are widespread claims that Meta has increasingly relied on AI to automate account enforcement and parts of the appeals process, replacing work that was previously handled by human reviewers. Whether or not this is entirely accurate, many affected users believe that appealing a Meta account ban has become significantly more difficult than it was in the past.

Nearly a year has passed, and there still appears to be no clear resolution to this issue. At a time when there are reports and discussions about government proposals to regulate social media use by minors and restrict access for children under 16, Filipinos affected by the recent Meta account bans are also calling on the government for assistance.

Many have sought help from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and the National Privacy Commission (NPC), but with little success. Part of the problem is a legal loophole: social media companies operate extensively in the Philippines but have no local office or legal representative, making it extremely difficult for affected users to pursue complaints or seek accountability.

Take, for example, the issue of fake news affecting the government. President Bongbong Marcos himself publicly appealed to Facebook to help curb misinformation regarding oil price hikes. To this day, many believe there has been no sufficiently clear response or decisive action from the platform.

The DTI will most likely dismiss complaints because of jurisdictional limitations. Since Meta has no local office in the Philippines where summonses or formal complaints can be served, government agencies often have limited means of compelling the company to respond.

Some celebrities and public figures who could afford to visit Meta's regional office traveled to Singapore, the nearest location from the Philippines. Ordinary Filipinos, however, cannot afford to do the same, leaving many feeling powerless when faced with account suspensions or other platform-related issues.

Unless our laws are updated to require major social media platforms operating in the Philippines to maintain a physical office or appoint a legal representative in the country, Filipinos will continue to face these challenges with little recourse.

It is time for our government to act. These companies should be held accountable to the people they serve. Filipinos deserve better.

Huwag tayong magpaapi sa sarili nating bansa.

Congratulations Jose Carlos Paras for winning the Mister National Universe

Link to the article here: https://www.pep.ph/pepalerts/cabinet-files/192720/boracay-s-jose-carlos-paras-wins-mister-national-universe-2026-a734-20260623?ref=article_tag

Jose Carlos Paras is a 22-year-old fitness instructor from Boracay. He's the first Filipino to become the title holder.

It seems that this pageant is based in Thailand, since the address of the FB page is Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand

I don't think Jose Carlos Paras is a haftie -- so shout-out to Brandon Espiritu and his statement regarding hafties winning titles for the Philippines.

We have until Saturday to rehome them :(

Way back in January, we met this mama cat who's pregnant. We are renting in Upright Residence, Anastacio St, Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati. Bawal talaga pet sa building but we're foolish and taken the preggy cat.

She gave birth to 5 kittens. Everything was okay but some tenants complained about the cats. Someone saw us putting the cat's poop in the garbage bin.

We were given until Saturday to rehome the mama cat and her kittens. We really want them to be adopted. We can deliver them to your place if you wish.

Thanks for considering :(

Another day...

I work as an IT staff sa isang proworking company dito sa SM North EDSA.

Schedule ko today is night shift, 10pm-7am and kapag ganitong holiday, like Independence Day, sobrang petiks sa work. I mean, yung usual na araw nga is petiks na, how much more yung mga holiday.

Monday to Friday ang work schedule namin, at 3 shifts -- morning, mid and night. Sakto lang naman ang sahod sa workload. Help customers connect their laptop to the WiFi network ang most common thing we do.

Daily task is to make sure na yung mga equipment sa mga meeting rooms and board room are working -- TV (where they usually project their laptop), yung internet connection, and occasionally, yung high resolution camera 'pag may meeting sila.

Dalawa yung ISP sa office at sobrang rare na sabay mag-down yung dalawang 'to. So laging may net sa office. Ang pinaka-sakit sa ulo lang is kapag yung client ay gumagamit pa ng VPN or RDP -- nakakabagal ng internet connection at nakaka-dagdag factor kung bakit nawawalan sila ng net or nagkaka-latency.

Wala kasi akong background talaga sa IT dahil arki talaga course ko. Bumagsak sa board exam, never bothered taking it again. Nag-focus sa pagwo-work, kaso na-board sa construction industry as site engineer (lagi akong inuutangan ng mga laborers namin).

Decided to shift sa BPO dahil OK ang sahod and malapit lang sa bahay. Stayed for too long then one day, may nakitang opening for an IT staff level 1. I did take the job anyway.

Sa dami ng application ko nung month na yun, two years ago, I hardly remember kung anu-ano mga tanong sa 'kin. Pero I remember being asked kung marunong akong mag-ping, which I said yes, kasi mostly DSL accounts handle ko. Mahilig daw ba akong mag-party, which I also said yes, kasi I am a blogger (with a b) as a hobby, also hobbyist photographer.

Last question during the interview that I remember was, how do I handle younger colleagues daw -- kasi mostly fresh college graduates ang karamihan sa staff.

So yun nga, na-hire. Tapos yung bio device, fingerprint enrollment lang pala. Yung sa CCTV, taga-view lang pala kami ng CCTV footage, or kasama sa viewing to make sure na hindi ire-record ng client yung mga vids. The rest ng job madali namang matutunan.

Pinapa-email nila CS, nire-reply-an nila SD, tapos binibigyan kami ng ticket.

Our network team (bukod pa sila) have to visit the site para palitan yung naging defective na AS. After noon, back to petiks na ulit. We do have other tasks like assisting asset team with the inventory, pero it depends pa rin sa site. May mga sites na may mga clients na sa 'min nagre-rent ng asset like Service Unit (SU) or laptop. So mejo busy 'pag yung site n'yo ganito.

Puro client-owned ang gamit nila -- from the laptop, SUs, mouse and keyboard. So wala kaming dine-deploy na asset. Wala ding ini-install na software.

So usual routine ko is, papasok, magche-check ng emails and Teams chat, magkakape (libre), makikipag-kwentuhan sa ibang staff, magra-rounds to check that all equipment are working, then petiks na.

Tapos yung company pinu-push yung pag-take ng AI to assist us with our works. Copilot to be exact, which is very helpful in drafting emails. Pero 'pag image generation, ChatGPT talaga ako.

Yung company namin is also taking internship. May intern nga kami currently pero he's assigned sa morning shift kaya bihira kami magpang-abot.

That's my usual day at work. Kayo ba?

I asked ChatGPT to make my childhood characters into animated characters. Wala lang :)

Kayo ba, meron ba kayong mga childhood sketches or original characters from elementary or high school? Naisip n'yo rin bang gawin silang Pixar animated characters?

Mine was from high school... sina JEP d chick and REO d sparrow hehe
