Abandoned vehicle form
Anyone ever report an abandoned vehicle?

If so, anything ever happen? Or just 👻🦗🦗🦗
I heard Just Two Girls at Panera Bread
I don't think they have Panera Bread in the UK or Europe. I believe an equivalent might be something like Pret A Manger. Anyway, happy to hear it but def unexpected. I know places like that typically use a corporate-controlled soundtrack curated by some equally corporate music platform. The song after was MJ's Thriller :)
Maybe I'm not paying enough attention. I'm in my own world musically. So much more out there than during pre-streaming times, and I only listen to a small subset. I hear dozens of artists for the first time with each new playlist I put on.
I got cheap cross bars, part 2
part 1: https://www.reddit.com/r/SubaruForester/comments/1u8v6xm/i_got_cheap_cross_bars/
After getting an 81" roof cargo box and thinking more about the long term, I decided to return the other cross bars and just spend the $$ and get some different cross bars. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tips for first oil change?
Gonna tackle it this wknd. 2026 model year. I know about not draining the CVT fluid, hopefully I don't eff that up, lol. Anything else? I can do it without jacking up the vehicle, right?
Why aren't these hooks standard?
I don't recall having to buy these utility hooks for my 2016 Impreza, which already came with four cargo net anchor loops. They put bottom loops in my Forester, so why not on the top? Yeah, they're overpriced, but I bought them before I saw the post where someone used M6 eye bolts instead. Anyway, they're sturdy and work well.
2026 w/500 mi won't start, electrical freak out
I've had it less than two weeks. It's been fine until today. Jump started the first time this happened, I thought I somehow left something on and drained the battery. After letting it run and driving it around, came home. Cut the engine and It started up fine again, but after another hour or so, it does this again when trying to start. Anyone know what's going on?
Yeah, got a dealer appt on in a couple days but no clue why this is happening.
I got cheap cross bars
$86 on Amazon
Yeah, I know, they'll fall apart in a few months and my kayak will kill someone behind me, lol. Just sharing as I know others are interested in not paying $$$ for Thule or Yakima. I had OEM bars on my Impreza, and these are very similar. They fit well and feel solid. I'm gonna start with a 22 lbs SUP, either directly on the bars (with rack pads) or with a 13 lbs Yakima board rack, and we'll see how they work out. I'll decide later this summer if I'm comfortable with a roof box or basket.
Link is below if anyone's interested. Mine are the Wilderness-specific variant, so I can't give feedback on any of the other versions.

And yeah, my garage is really low.

Low profile cross bars?
I have a Wilderness but this likely applies to different trim levels. Anyone use low profile cross bars that they'd recommend? I'll pay for quality, although not opposed to budget as long as they work well.
We have a very low garage, and my current cross bars don't clear the lowest point of the garage door opener assembly by millimeters.
Mid-Year Price Change
This might be old news here, but as someone who recently shopped for a new Forester, I noticed the window sticker standard equipment MSRP (before optional equipment and other items) had a $1,390 difference across various vehicles - same model, same trim level (Wilderness in my case), exact same itemized standard equipment, but two different MSRPs, which of course carries down to the total suggested price and ultimate dealer negotiating reference point.
Looking at VINs, it appears newer vehicles (shipped from the factory more recently) have the lower MSRP, indicating a mid-model year price reduction. The car I wanted had the higher MSRP, so I ultimately got the dealer to price-match based on the lower number. After closing, I asked about the difference, and someone at the dealership said it was due to tariffs. Subaru decided to absorb the hit and hopefully generate more sales.
I've since learned this is specific to Forester and WRX models. Anyway, something to look out for if anyone is shopping for a new Forester.
Subaru financing - early payoff
I'm planning on getting pre-approved with SMF for a 2026 Forrester. I just want to be able to close quickly once I get my price via email. I plan to payoff the loan when 1st pymt is due so not really concerned about term or rate.
I was hoping not to deal with a credit union or have to get a cashier's check. Does this sound OK? Can the dealer still try to pull crap with the loan to get more profit (not that I would fall for anything, just want to avoid any BS). Should I do something differently?

Show Us Your Watch!
Been wanting to move away from a smart watch for awhile.
Flush on Wrist?
Like any watch, I always had my Versa 4 flush on the top of my wrist. With my FitBit Air on the mesh strap, I started wearing it a bit looser more like a bracelet, and the sensor might not always be in contact with the top of my wrist. This coincided with the Google Health app switch, so I'm not sure if I can entirely blame the new app for any perceived discrepancies.
Just changed to my active band and started wondering - should the sensor always be flush on the top of the wrist and will not doing so affect any readings?
