System Design daily reading resources (Similar to LC daily?)

I am planning to daily read topics about system design starting from the basics, much like the LC daily that helps me stay on track. Anyone found resources similar to this?

FWIW, I tried many times in the past to read the DDIA book, but couldn't complete, primarily because I do not have to design systems end-end and may be the book is meant to be used as a reference of sort? (just my thoughts).

FSBO logistics tips for Canada

Hi everyone, I know this is a general FSBO sub but I couldn't find any country-specific FSBO for Canada.. First time FSBO here, so sorry if these questions come up a lot here:

I am going to put my house on MLS (using a flat fee agent who is there to just list my property and send me a scheduling website, called ShowingTime). I am responsible to review offers (as I get them directly through the buyers and their agents) and have talked to a lawyer for helping verify the authenticity/legality of the offers.

I am looking for tips, if you have any, and anything that I should know in advance with regards to:

  1. Are there any deadlines in terms of reviewing the offers buyers/agents send to FSBO owners? It seems they call this 'Agreement of Purchase and Sale (APS)' in Canada. I am assuming its all going to be through the ShowingTime/email and I will have a final say in whether I like to accept an offer or not, but just curious if there are any gotchas. I am bit confused after reading some posts about a 48-hour time window to accept/reject some APS offers.

  2. I couldn't find one but is there any such legal requirement that a seller has to accept the highest offer only (and any time limit on any offer at the same time)?

  3. I have researched the recent sold houses, similar sqft in my zip/postal code, so I think I have a reasonable approximation of the market price. Anything an experienced agent might be able to do in terms of the market price here, other than just doing what I am doing here for #3?

Anyone with AOS in San Juan Field office?

I am trying to guess how long it takes for AOS once it goes to the FO. Mine has been stuck for 2+ months (since 4/16) and Emma chat says its at San Juan. I got 3 FTA0s and few silent updates but nothing yet. If you are waiting or got the AOS approved, could you share how long it took approximately?

Flat-fee MLS recommendations for an Ottawa FSBO listing

Hey everyone, I’m planning to list my townhouse for sale soon and want to go the FSBO route.

I’ve been researching online and found out about flat-fee MLS services in Ontario that get your property listed onto Realtor.ca. Since I'm in Ottawa, I'm wondering: do I need to look specifically for an Ottawa-based flat-fee agent, or does the agent's actual location even matter for this kind of listing?

If anyone has any recommendations or recent experiences using a flat-fee service here in Ontario, please let me know! (From what I can tell via Google, offering a standard 2% commission to the buyer's agent seems to be the norm to get traction).

[FSBO] Going to put a house without seller agent, any gotchas?

Hey everyone, hope this is the right place for this (sorry if this sub leans more toward agent-guided sales).

I’ve decided to go the FSBO route for my end-unit townhouse here in Ontario. Long story short, I’m unfortunately selling at a loss after buying during the pandemic peak, so I'm trying to save wherever I can on commissions. Plus, I have some free time right now and honestly just want to see what the process looks like firsthand.

I already have a lawyer lined up to handle the paperwork once offers start coming in. That said, are there any major "gotchas" or blind spots I should watch out for? Would love to hear from anyone else in Ontario who has gone the FSBO route recently!

Recommendations for virtual tour photography for putting on sale

Hey folks,

Any recommendations for Ottawa-based photographers who do a 3-d virtual video for house to be sold that we can put on the listing? My agent's regular services only do photos, and am looking to also put Matterport video tour. Please include fees if that is okay. Thanks

Amtrak to Yosemite with 1-day layover at Merced

I don't have a car and haven't been to Yosemite yet. I remember there used to a Bart employee or someone who was really into public transit who did share a video going from SF to Yosemite and coming back the same day (but I can't find it online now). I am going to stay one night at Merced just to take it a bit easy so that I don't have to rush to catch multiple trains/buses. Has anyone done this and does my plan look okay?
For context, I am thinking of going on the June 19 long weekend:
- SF to Emeryville (via Amtrak 7:30 am bus from SF to Emeryville at 8:00am)

- Emeryville to Merced (Amtrak 8:18am to 11:13am)
- Merced to Yosemite (Yart bus 11:40am to 2:26pm)

---> Visit Yosemite <------

- Yosemite Valley to Merced : Yart bus latest (9:45 PM Is this correct as Yart website is very confusing)

- Stay at Merced on an Airbnb
- Take Amtrak back to SF the following day.

5th metatarsal base swelling

Hi folks, I had fallen sideways from a bike about 2 years ago and my right foot was stuck on the pedal (road bike). I heard a small crack when I fell from the bike and got a bad swelling that night. I went to the hospital the next day and had a few x-rays taken. The doctor at that time mentioned, no fractures were seen. I recovered almost a month after that and have resumed running since.
However, a small swelling on what looks like the base of the 5th metatarsal has been there since I had that accident and never went away (see pictures please). I also recently (few weeks ago) started having some pain on that area (see the pictures) when I stand for more than 10-15 minutes, and when I run. I have been putting off going to the doctor because it seems more like a nagging pain, and nothing serious. I would like to hear from folks if anyone has experienced something similar or familiar with this. Should I go get another set of x-rays knowing that this likely may be just a tendon that got pulled?

QA engineer with 4+ years of exp looking for job in SF

Hi, Its a tough market for QAs out there and one of friends has been looking for a job for over 6 months. They have 4+ YoE in QA mostly in web testing, and know a bit of Python, good with IT support too. Please comment if there is any other platforms they can search other than LinkedIn that I advised.

Spouse got EAD approved and has ITIN, can she start working while SSN is pending?

Sorry, I couldn't find similar questions asked before.
I have a pending employment-based i-485 (after an approved i-140) and my derivative spouse got her EAD approved, got her card too. She already has an ITIN which she got when I filed W-7 for our last year's tax reports. Can she start working now? We booked her an appointment but that is 2 weeks from now, and I remember SSA takes 2/3 weeks to send the actual SSN by mail. Not to rush things, but there were a few recruiters who reached out saying they need some contract workers almost immediately.

Note:
Asking this because I remember when I first started working, I had to do something called I-9 verification and only got my SSN after 2 weeks of my job start date in the US.

Some employers seem to ask for SSN number while applying for the job itself.

Sorry, I am not trying to say one is better than the other. Both courses, at a first glance, seem to be teaching full stack with NodeJs on the backend. I am not asking about the TOP Ruby course (but the one below). I have experience with JS (not on web though) and am decent with programming (C/C++/Kotlin/Python) and am okay picking up a new language.
I am trying to learn web dev in an intensive way (probably will skip some projects) as I need it for my job.
Which one would you recommend if I want to learn full stack with JS 'faster'? I say, faster, because I will be working on full stack on my new role (within the same company but a new team).

FSO: https://fullstackopen.com/en/

Thanks!

I came upon a very highly regarded course by Helsinki called Full Stack open (https://fullstackopen.com/en/ ) and teaches web dev. I am a programmer who has worked with C/C++ and a bit of Python. I want to learn end-end web dev just for my own curiosity and want to go quickly through the course. However, I notice the website mentions 'A new course part has been released: https://courses.mooc.fi/org/uh-cs/courses/full-stack-open-nextjs' .
I am that familiar with nextjs, nodejs, etc and can't figure out if the Full-stack-open-nextjs is supposed to be a sequel to the first Full Stack open course or just a new version of that course.

Could experienced folks give some guidance here if I should just continue from Chapter 1 of the Full stack open or jump straight to the nextjs one?
