Bits and pieces from the last couple of weeks

Every couple of weeks I make a short compilation with some moments from my sessions to upload on YT, documenting the journey and having something to look back on. Thought I'd share the latest batch here too.

Ah shi, here we go again!

Just a rant about seasonal resets.

So, I’m a veteran player who started playing CS around 2002, back in 1.3. I used to play a lot when I was younger, but these days I simply don’t have the same amount of time or energy to grind the game.
Since CS2 was released, I’ve played 306 matches on Faceit. I reached Level 10 in 201 matches toward the end of Season 7. Then the seasonal resets were introduced, and I got pushed back down to around 1.6–1.7k Elo.

I climbed back to 2.1k in another 50 matches, only for the season to end again. Now I’m back at around 1.7k.

This is what I find frustrating about the system. I don’t particularly enjoy playing at this rating. I’m not claiming to be some insane player, but I’ve been playing this game for over 20 years, I’ve played across pretty much every skill bracket, and I have a pretty good idea of where I currently stand. Given the amount of time I have available to play, I’d be perfectly happy sitting somewhere around 2.5k.

The problem is that getting there requires me to repeatedly grind through the same lower Elo brackets every time a season ends. By the time I finally climb back to where I was, the season is over and I’m sent back down again. And no 10 matches is not enough to determine someones skill level, you could have an unlucky streak and GG you lose 400 elo.

As someone who doesn’t have the time to grind 500 matches every few months, it feels like I’m permanently stuck in a cycle of climbing out of low Elo just to be thrown back into it again never able to play at the skill bracket the game is actually enjoyable for me.

I don’t mind losing or having to improve to climb. What I find frustrating is that my progress effectively gets erased simply because I don’t play enough matches within a season.

Please reconsider these seasonal resets for players like me, before these resets I knew that I'm approaching the elo I deserved now I feel cursed to play here forever.

And here are my stats at the end of my 2nd climb to lvl 10

u/Faceit_Darwin I heard you are interested in hearing opinions about the resets, here is my situation.

After 20+ years of CS, seeing Dust2 like this was surreal

I feel like a lot of CS players don't realize Pavlov VR has a pretty good CS-style experience.

As someone who has played Counter-Strike for a very long time, it was honestly so fun to jump into a familiar map and play it in a completely different way.

The only thing holding Pavlov back is having enough players for consistent full matches. More CS players knowing about it could genuinely help.

Here how 3k hours in Pavlov looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HclFe5J15zI

Where do I go if I wanna play 5v5 defusal mode on CS maps?

New to this game and I'm curious if this is a thing.

With Valve mentioning 1v1 arenas, does anyone else actually enjoy playing arena?

Funny timing, I started playing arena a bit recently and ended up saving some clips.

What do you think, would this mode be a good way to settle up a tie?

Do you think it has any real benefit for improving, or is it just a fun aim duel mode?

Honestly I find it pretty fun to just hop in and take fights without having to commit to a 5v5 or the chaos that is in a DM lobby. I also if I'll have to choose between this and a tie, I'll take arena over a tie.

anyone else get hackusated every other game?

Y'all seemed to like the last clip dump, so here's another one.

Don't play nearly as much these days, but every once in a while enough clips pile up. Also can't seem to play an official MM game without getting called a cheater every other match.

Anyone else get hackusated way more than they should?

A reminder that CS2 is actually fun sometimes

Been seeing a lot of people asking for more actual CS content on here instead of just cheater complaint posts, so I thought I'd share some of the clips I've been sitting on.

I have a bunch of rounds saved from my games that usually just end up forgotten in a folder, so every now and then I put together a little collection of the ones that stood out.

What keeps the game fun for you after all this time?

What is this behaviour?

Extremely cute entity patrolling the area.
Am I safe to go outside, am I being monitored?

Wild pigeon I've been feeding does this sometimes, is he asking for more food?

Low lvl lobby pistol DM

nothing serious, just something i hop into sometimes when i don’t have time for a full match and still want to play a bit.

curious to see if anyone can spot any missing links in my mechanics and your thoughts on pistol dm in general.
