I am so tired of my job. I am stuck here and there’s no end in sight…

I am only at this job because I am remote. I hate it now. My manger is a micromanager and he is insufferable to work with. I am so burnt out, you can hear it in my voice.

It is to the point i’ve been considering leaving corporate america completely. The thought of doing this bs, just at another company makes me feel miserable. I recently received another job offer but it was a substantial pay cut and title cut. I ended up not accepting it, but wondering if I made a mistake.

I dread working everyday. It is hard because people tell me I need to be grateful I even have a job and they wished they had my job, etc. I am in therapy trying to deal with this. I have hobbies and a life outside of work but life from M-F feels insufferable.

I have so much anxiety all day. Anytime I have meetings I am overwhelmed with anxiety. I get endless tasks put on my plate all day.

What do you do when your mother will not accept you not wanting to get married/have kids?

I have dated and been in relationships, but the older I get the more careful I am when it comes to dating and picking my partner. I know what I want and I am ok with not ever getting married. I am getting older and to my hispanic mother, the older I get that means my window of having kids gets smaller.

I don't even want kids. The thought of giving birth disgusts me. To my mother, i'm seen less than if I don't get married/have kids. It sucks because i've built a career for myself, invest in myself, etc but it kinda hurts that she looks down on me for not wanting kids/marriage.

How do you all deal with it?

Leaving tech for nursing, would it be worth it?

I work remotely in cybersecurity. Saying it out loud sounds cool and people always tell me I have a great job and should be grateful. I hate it. I am so burnt out. I have been trying to get another job and it’s been impossible. Even then, the thought of doing the same thing just with different company politics makes me feel miserable.

I am considering going back to school for nursing. Nursing appeals to be because it’s more flexible scheduling, work with an impact, ability to change specialities without schooling. The only thing making me nervous is I can be relatively squeamish. I did shadow once at the ER, I didn’t see anything too crazy but the time flew by instead of rotting behind a screen all day.

Wondering if anyone made a similar change and if you’ve regretted it.

I want out of AppSec. What areas of cyber are more individual contributor heavy?

I am burnt out. I am tired of arguing with developers all day. I don’t even care about vulnerabilities anymore. People ask me the same things over and over again. I sit in meetings going back and forth with various stakeholders on why they don’t/can’t remediate x,y,z. I just want a role where I do my task and move on with my day.

I have been applying to other jobs but all i’m hearing back from are AppSec roles.

Anyone go to Lanier Tech? Is there a coursicle alternative to track when a spot opens for Fall courses?

I’ve had to delay my starting date because the classes are all full by the time I can register. I did not see Lanier tech on couriscle to track when a class opens. Is there an alternative?

Which CLEP exam is easier? Humanities or American Literature?

I have a tech based background so both of these are out of my comfort zone :)

Company I applied to reached out 4 months later... Red flag?

I was referred to this company by a friend. My first red flag was communication was occurring through my friend and not HR. I did not hear from HR at all until I received an email this morning asking for an initial interview.

I first applied for this position in March. They sent me a self recorded interview. Awkwardly, I did it. I heard back 2 months later from my friend, not HR, that they did not move forward with me because I was "asking for too much money". Someone else filled the role.

At that time, my friend lets me know there's another position opening for the same role on the same team. Cautiously, I apply. Again, 2 months later I don't hear back. Until today, they are suddenly asking for an interview.

TBH I'm kinda over this position. I have been pretty tired of the tech space and dealing with awful burnout. I am even considering changing career paths completely. This role would be a demotion to analyst, potential pay cut by 10-20k, only perk is it is fully remote since my company is RTO.

Should I entertain this or ghost them too? I was looking for other roles casually and have had tough luck hearing back without referrals… :-/

I’ve reached the point of burn out where I think i’d feel relief if I got laid off…

I’ve been with my company for 5 years. It was cool at first, but within the last year I’ve noticed how nothing ever gets done. It doesn’t help to add in the changes in management. New management means I need to prove “my value” for a “promotion”. I could care less. Morale is dead. My coworkers are a pain to work with.

I am only here because I am fully remote. I am expecting that to change sometime this year because the company is slowly RTO. I refuse to RTO, my commute would be unsustainable.

I’ve been trying to find a new job since March. I had a few interviews and ultimately the feedback I get is I do not have “enough experience” compared to the pool of candidates, but that I interviewed well. Without referrals I’m not getting interviews.

The stress of studying/prepping for interviews while working FT was unsustainable for me. I was so stressed out I had to go on beta blockers. I’m so burnt out I dread every night before bed. I have even started considering a career change out of tech. I feel like even if I get another job, it’s going to be the same bs just different company politics. Sometimes I find relief in hoping they lay me off instead.

First filet crochet project - should I size down my hook when working the blocks to make my block stitches more noticeable?

I circled in the pic where I have 3 blocks (3 dc stitches). I feel like they aren’t that noticeable. Do I just trust the process or size down my hook when I work the black blocks?

Thoughts on whether I should put all my eggs in one nursing program or retake my science pre-reqs to have more options?

Nursing would be my second career. I initially applied to this school in my undergrad almost 10 years ago and was accepted. I took a seat in the nursing program but ultimately withdrew during the add/drop period so i'm a bit nervous they will reject me since I left before. The main pro with this school's program is they offer an ABSN option that waives the 7 year old science pre-req requirement. I would not need to renew my pre-reqs. The con is they only accept admissions until Sept every year. The cohort starts only spring semester. I am honestly not ready to start nursing school this upcoming spring (I want a gap year/a break).

Or, should I go ahead and renew my pre-reqs (i'd spend about 4-5k) and have more nursing program options to apply to? I am currently employed, so I am not necessarily

"in a rush". My thought would be to take microbio this fall, chem & a&p1/2 next year together.

Could someone please help if i’m doing this pattern correctly? I’m struggling with filet crochet decreases.

Before starting the decreases, I ensured I had 131 ch 1 spaces. After doing the decreases as the pattern reads for row 5, when I count the ch 1 spaces following the decreases on both sides, I have 127?

I have frogged this twice and still ending up with 127 ch 1 spaces.
