Large Group Bookings

I’m not new to being an agent, but am new to large bookings. I have a client who wants to host a retreat along with a few other people. On top of hoping their rooms are comped, they want to make a small profit from the event. Without giving up my commission, how is it possible for the hosts to make $ from this? I cannot wrap my head around how to do this. Any advice would be helpful.

Transatlantic Flights

For those that travel from the east coast of the U.S., do you find it’s better to fly to the UK overnight or during the daytime? I ask b/c I feel like trying to force an overnight flight is risky due to the fact that I rarely fall asleep on airplanes. Is it better to fly during the daytime and immediately try to acclimate to local time?

Am I the only one?

I am not interested in knowing the real lives of many of the costume, historical drama actors. I, like so many others, first dip in CDrama was through Pursuit of Jade. I was enamored with the two leading actors, BUT, I want my affinity toward them to stay as they are (their characters). If I know what they are like in real life then that increases the chances of my affinity lessening and shatter my illusion that they really are Changyu and Xie Zhang. Can anyone relate?

What might kids like in London?

Bringing our children next summer. Personally, I would visit all the historical sights, shop, stop for afternoon tea, and pretend I lived there. However, my two boys will not be into all that. So, what would a couple of boys (11 and 9) enjoy in a three day stay? We aren’t into Harry Potter. My oldest does love history. We are not theater people. We like personalized service, authentic experiences. Also need to add they would enjoy something about The Beatles, maybe like a studio tour or something related.

Bonus if you could suggest an area to stay in that’s not basically the equivalent of Times Square in NYC. Thank you!

First vacation to Europe

What locations would you recommend for a first time trip to Europe with kids? Two weeks. Rome is a must. Disneyland Paris a must. Outside of that, we would like a mix of relaxation, history and enough activity to keep us entertained, but not enough to just exhaust us. Coming from the states. Would go late spring/early summer. Kids will be 11 & 9. Thanks!

What now?

I know everyone asks this 🫣 Looking for a cross between A Splendid Match, POJ and Perfect Match. Romance, a little bit of humor and not so politically intense. Something where the male lead is very masculine and socially respectable, but soft and kind to the love interest. Where the FL is confident and self-assured, but vulnerable with the ML. Any recs???

I have already seen My Journey to You, Ashes to Crown, the ones mentioned above and Love in the Clouds.

Solo Parent Travel Suggestion

Where would you feel comfortable taking kids by yourself for a week’s vacation? They would be 11 and 9 at the time. U.S. only. I have two boys so a beach vacation won’t do-they need activity throughout the day/week. Ideally, a 4-5 star place that has kids clubs or lots of kids activities and great service. Thanks!

Looking for specific room type in NYC

Anyone know of a 4-5 star hotel in NYC with a king bed + 2 double beds? I’m even ok with a king or queen, sofa bed + rollaway. Just don’t want to feel crammed in a room with that particular configuration. Thanks!

Which app is better?

Which app do you like better for viewing? WeTv (Tencent Video) or Viki Rakuten? I’m in the U.S. I have watched POJ, My Journey to You, Perfect Match, Love in the Clouds and started The First Jasmine. Are these all CDramas (as opposed to KDramas and/or J-Dramas)? Just trying to decide which app is better for viewing these types of shows.

Which toner?

I bought COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner and Anua 70+ Glowy Milky Toner. Are they targeting the same thing? Should I use both or just one? Or one in the morning and the other at night? I cannot remember exactly why I bought them both. My main skin concerns are sun spots, wrinkles and smoothing.

Apps on entertainment screen

Is there a way to remove apps (particularly YouTube) from the rear entertainment screens?

Cultural Customs

Where can I find more about the “why’s” I see in historical shows? I’m new to CDramas and don’t know much about Chinese culture. I would like to know things like:
Why do they drink from small bowls?
Why do they cover their mouths with their sleeves when drinking?
What’s the significance of the screens over the bride’s face?
Why do they go to sleep in their day clothes and hair still “all done up?”

Non-Sticky Rece

I’m looking for a routine that doesn’t feel sticky or tacky. I ordered some things and it just feels sticky or tacky to the touch after application. For reference, I’m 45 with some wrinkles, dry skin and lots of sun spots. Thanks!

Group/Retreat Bookings

I have a client wanting to put on a retreat at an AI in Mexico. I have not done this type of thing before. If I book rooms via my consortia, it’s 18% commission. The group rate through the resort is 10%. What’s the advantage of group rates for me? Do people who want to put on these retreats expect make $$ off them? How do you make up for that “loss” of commission? What parameters should o put in place to protect myself? Any advice is appreciated.

I posted separately asking for recommendations. This was by far the most recommended when I said I like Jane Austen style shows. I’m struggling with the whiny Fan husband. Does his character get less annoying? It’s really deterring me from continuing on. I’m on episode 5 I believe.

I watched POJ and Journey to You. What is just as good, but doesn’t require as much thought as Journey to You did? Needs to be available on Netflix or Prime Video. For reference, I love Jane Austen style shows/movies. There is drama, but it’s simple and there is always a love story or two. Thanks!
