64-bit app compatibility for Google TV and Android TV

64-bit app compatibility for Google TV and Android TV

New apps and app updates for TV started to be 64-bit compliant since august 1st. This is mandatory.

This means Android 16 64-bit for TV is around the corner and the Homatics Box 4K Plus V3 and the Homatics Box 4K Pro seem to be the only announced boxes that may ship with the 64-bit build.

However, the Nvidia Shield devices are the only ones so far that benefit from this because they have been using a "custom" 64-bit build since the beginning.

I created a tool to calibrate the volume level of home theater speaker configurations as easy as possible

The tool is tailored for basic users with basic home theater speaker configurations with no knowledge on the subject and want to calibrate their setups fast and easy.

Just select your speaker layout, enter the distance, the brand and model of your speakers, their current position on the walls and the tool will calculate the best recommended volume level for each speaker.

Because this tool utilizes pure mathematical trigonometric vectors and physics boundary reinforcement matrices, there is absolutely NO need to use an SPL meter nor the auto-calibration setup microphone included with your receiver.

Let me know if the tool is useful to you, while also report any bugs or feature requests you may have.

Latest Disney+ version brings Quick Media Switching back!

After I insisted to them more than once, they finally brought back the quick media switching function on version 26.12.1+rc1-2026.07.15 currently rolling out.

Can anyone confirm it is finally working?

Walmart is shifting business from SDMC to Skyworth?

Would a device with the S905X5 SoC be a reality this time?, I doubt it.

What do you think?

Quick Media Switching report @ Issue Tracker website

Do you have a device and TV with Quick Media Switching support?

Do you use the feature?

Are you having issues with the feature such as the screen blinks when it shouldn't or the 23,976hz and 24hz framerates double to 48hz when it shouldn't?

If your answer is yes, then please help me to document the issue at this Issue Tracker bug report I made. Make sure you login with your Google account in order to see the ticket.

Just add a comment stating that you are also facing the same issues and if possible provide a video showing the situation, like I did.

The more people add information, the more attention is paid to the situation.

Thank you.

Cannoli: A frontend with just the right amount of filling!

I recommend Cannoli on TV for three main reasons:

  1. It's apparently the only emulator or frontend with ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) support or game mode, which is available on Android for TV since Android 11. It triggers the game mode as soon as you launch a game, provided you set the game mode on your TV to "Automatic" or when it's enabled, such as on LG TVs.
  2. It supports the SwanStation core, which is the one that support Dolby Surround decoding for some PlayStation games such as Road Rash 3-D, I already tested it and it works.
  3. It has the ability of saving the aspect ratio for each game independently, which is useful for some games that support a 16:9 aspect ratio such as Pac-Man World 20th Anniversary,

DD+ with Atmos and TrueHD with Atmos handshake issue

There is some kind of handshake issue or stutter issue when I skip back and forth through a video with DD+ with Atmos and TrueHD with Atmos on my Android TV devices connected to my LG 55QNED85A. The devices are the Google TV Streamer and the Homatics Box R 4K Plus.

The issue started ever since a firmware update I didn't track was applied several months ago.

The issue only happens when I use my AV receiver connected to the TV through the eARC port but If I connect the devices directly to the receiver the issue doesn't happen at all.

Today I installed the latest firmware update version 33.31.25 and the issue still remains.

Has anyone encounter with the same issue?

This has annoyed me ever since that firmware update was applied.

An open source driver for bit-perfect playback is now available for free

While native Media3's bit perfect playback support is implemented, here is an open source driver for bit-perfect USB Audio output that can be implemented on ANY music app for free.

[Desktop web] Creating wrapped links is not working

As you can see in this comment I made, creating wrapped links with the syntax [title](link) is not working on some parts of Reddit, whether on the website on desktop or mobile or on the mobile app (I only use android), however, this is working on the Rules and Saved Responses.

As discussed on this post, this new section appears on my Onn 2023 after the recent firmware update but it appears it doesn't show up on all models.

Do you see it in yours?

They don't work by the way, I'm still getting passthrough.

I have an Onn 2023.

I reset it to factory settings.

But now I've been unable to setup a proper VPN to bypass the region restriction at the setup process.

Any help is appreciate it.

My current GRUB list is as follows:

Bazzite (ostree:0)

Bazzite (ostree:1)

Windows Boot Manager (on /dev/sda1)

UEFI Firmware Settings

And I want it like this with the timeout set to 5 minutes:

Windows 11

Bazzite

UEFI Firmware Settings

Is there an easy way to do this?
