temp contract to replace 2 long-term sick employees

hello,

i've been working for a while as a temp employee to replace 2 long-term sick employees. my boss made me know that "depending on budget" they would offer me an open ended contract by the end of summer.

the problem is that i know my company doesn"t have the budget to sustain a team with an extra 2 'sick' employees because what if they come back? they will have let go of someone at some point...

my boss also told me that they want the team to grow so i'm really confused because i want to stay but i also want a higher salary since it's pretty low right now... do you guys think i got chances at negotiating my "fixed term" contract salary knowing that i might get another position?

digging up the marrow

just watched this movie yesterday thinking it would be cool, i thought they would go INTO the cave and film it and stuff but no 95% of the movie is the camera crew doubting an old senile man... i'm so disappointed but also, i didn't understand the end of the movie?

why was the old man caged up? was he down there all along? was the old man we saw a shapeshifter?

why did the monster come to MC's house to record him?

why is satella way stronger than the other witches? [discussion]

also how did each witch inherit their powers ? i mean i saw that for pride she just got them "naturally"? but how did the others get them (e.g. sekmeth or echidna), did the world just chose them to get powers?

torn between two positions

i am currently working as a business & sales support in a mid-sized company. the pay is rather on the lower end but it's okay for a single person ig.

my problem is that, i don't really enjoy the job (it just feels like customer service for the sales department). Although i feel like i have evolution opportunities (already in talks about becoming a process manager in a few months) but i'm afraid the pay will remain unattractive.

on the other hand, i got offered a contract to work as a communications officer in an ngo, the pay is way better (+350 netto) and the advantages are slightly better (2 days wfh instead of 1 currently), company trips to japan (for salons but you get leisure time too)...

the thing is, i dont know how future-proof this position is?

i feel like the sales department is still somewhat safe from automation and i dont risk getting laid off suddenly but i feel like communications (although fun), is a riskier bet ?

the pay gap seems not big but in my country 350 netto goes a mile (i need to get 1.5x my current gross to have it : around 1.2k more gross). do you guys think i could ask the maanger to stretch the budget for me so i could stay and not leave the department without sales support (without me they would have to close the department until they find a replacement) so i guess i have some leverage, even though i havent even been there a full year?

torn between salary offers

im basically working as an interim right now but will get a fixed contract in september, when i'll get my contract, i am also supposed to get a "promotion", or at least a new title : from officer to manager, but we haven't really discussed whether i would get a raise or not considering i have been at this place for lass than 6 months,

i like my job it's just your regular desk job 8-17 but at least i got used to it and coworkers are nice, only problem is that right now my pay as a temp worker is pretty low and i have no clue whether when i'll get my open ended contract it will be with a better salary...

on the other hand, i have a friend who will change jobs and is ready to recommend me to her boss so i take her position (350 euro netto more than what i earn now and better meal voucher policy + pension plan)...

the thing is that i feel like if i get a raise in september i'll be happy with it (if it's 15% it will amount to the same (a bit less) pay than the other job but i won't have to change environments)...

Is talking to my manager about the foreseen budget for my CDI in september an okay move ? she's a really open, no taboo person so i feel like i could talk about it with her... but yea.. i just feel so torn right now.

to the people who worked as a temp worker with an open ended contract after a 3/6 months period, how much did your conditions change?

i'm wondering if they offer a better contract once they give you a vaste contract?

i mean, to those who worked as "interimaire en vue d'engagement", did your salary change when they offered you the final contract ? or did they expect you to accept the same salary as when you where a temp worker?

foreign name at work, coworkers butchering it, what to do ?

for context: i work in a belgian firm with only belgian coworkers, my direct coworkers (my department) learned how to pronounce my name and even some ppl from other departments that i kinda see daily know how to pronounce my name,

i have an asian name that is not pronounced the same way it looks so lots of people in my company just read my name out loud (even though it's butchering my name).

during my day to day i don't really get "butchered" a lot but sometimes coworkers from other offices/departments that aren't familiar with me call me and just assume my name is my last name or just mispronounce my name...

i'm not 100% annoyed by it because since childhood people always struggled a bit before learning how to pronounce it but now that this is a 'professional' setting it feels different?

like what's the point of insisting that my name is pronounced a certain way when said person will only call me once or twice when they have a problem and then never hear from me again?

how would you guys approach this ? has anyone with an uncommon name already had a similar situation? how did you guys solve it?

also my company having little to no "foreigners" makes it also harder since i feel like i'm the diversity hire..

[discussion] are If stories canon ? Are the characters aware Subaru is from another world?

Ive been anime only since day one but now that i also watch theories on YouTube, i learned about « if » stories, are they canon ? If I understand correctly it’s the « different routes » Subaru took in the stories and their development ?

Also one thing I always wondered, are characters aware Subaru is not from this world ? Or do they just assume he’s a weirdo?

how important is your job to you?

I'm asking this because there are obviously different point of views (depending on the generation) for this question.

i was curious to see whether people would prefer a bullshit job that pays okay and leaves you a big amount of energy after work (but no fulfillment)

or rather a job that's kinda tiring - fast paced but makes you feel fulfilled after a full day of work, even tho you have no more energy

stuck in an interim contract, what is waiting for me?

as the title says, i'm stuck in an interim contract and basically was told that i had to wait and see if the budget would allow them to get me a fix contract in september (after 6 months of me being interim).

i know that legally they can't make me work longer that 6 months as an interim and i have been told clearly that the will internalize me because they're understaffed and need me to stay... do you guys know what could happen if they make me work longer as an interim?

Coffee shop - eco cup discount

I’m being hella stingy so I wanted to make a list of coffee shops giving you a 50 cents (or any) discount for bringing your reusable cup. Do you guys have any coffee shop in mind that does this ?

does the bike make an actual diff?

i bike sometimes from home to work (18km a day) with an e-bike from evercross (cheapest option), as much as i like biking and the assistance, i was wondering if buying more expensive bikes made an actual difference ? are pricy bikes easier to use in hilly-regions ?

what neighborhoods in brussels are cheap (housing-wise)?

i'm looking to move out from my parents' so i was perusing immoweb without really looking at specific districts (even though i have preferences) i know that "ghetto" places are cheaper i.e. St-josse, anderlecht and molenbeek (which i think is ridiculous, my grandma lives around north station (away enough to be on a calm street) and the neighborhood is calm (although loud at dawn from ppl just screaming which i guess contribute to the ghetto ambiance)

anyway i was looking for an apartment to buy and i was wondering "where" to look as in - safe and on the average to cheap price range ? i saw lots of cheap pretty apartments in schaerbeek, especially around josaphat and meiser but my parents say it's better not go to there (to them the whole city is ghetto anyway so i don't want to listen to them) but is the area around josaphat really "bad" or is it on the calmer side ? what's the situation about other places like attitude 100, barrière de saint gilles, jette or laeken ?

With the current course of things in Anderlecht and molenbeek how are the things going to be in the future ?

Im just wondering how the districts will change considering the many attempts at gentrifying those places (esp canal area) do you guys think the authorities will try to force a demographic change ? More repression for « safety » ?

green tech etf ?

i'm willing to take some risks, with energy crises multiplying, ressources being finite and me being young, i was wondering if i should add a global small cap (or large cap idk) green tech / renewables etf, has anyone added those to their portfolio ? how agressive would it be ?

Spyy or webn

Im a bit confused when it comes to world ETFs, why do some perform better than the others when they have more or less the same composition and give the same weight to their holdings…?

Right now webn is performing +1% better than SPYY why is that ? Webn being a relatively new etf I don’t know if I should chose this one or spyy

amundi msci world or amundi Prime world ?

im hesitating to go all in on either one of the two but i can't seem to decide... one of them is a world etf with only developed economies and the other is developed + emerging economies (way more diversified but more prone to volatility i guess...)

prime has around 50% US whereas msci world has around 70% us stocks too...

i have a small (5k capital) to invest and i'd like to get as much return as possible and i feel like including EM on a world index can be good ? since last year my EMIM etf almost made +30%...

Amundi primé all world vs amundi msci world

Are these etfs basically the same ?
I tried looking for their composition and although I didn’t find anything in detail, the MSCI world is more focused on developed countries while prime has emerging countries in it too ? Is there a huge difference ?

I feel like besides having more volatility, the prime etf would be more diverse ?
