This review confuses me (Beloved by Toni Morrison)

Great book but one star? Maybe a mistake when clicking, but also it changed your perspective on slavery? As in you didn't think it was that bad?

Or is the review sarcastic and that's why it's a one star? I'm intrigued.

Destined With You - little things that annoyed me

Let me start off by saying that I did like this drama and none of these issues are huge but I have to let them out and none of my friends gaf about Kdramas so here they are:

  • I was hoping Na Yeon would turn out to be a more nuanced and complex character at first (from her introduction), kinda disappointing that she quickly turned out to be like all the other female villains. At least we don't see much of her on-screen.
  • I ended the show feeling like there could have been more exploration of the past lives timeline. Like Kwon for example, >!he was undoubtedly an antagonist in their past lives!<, but more of a supporting character (aside from a love interest) in the present time. Maybe I'm just biased towards period dramas.
  • Probably my biggest annoyance: Her horrible coworkers. They were much easier to hate than Na Yeon. They spent most of the drama being terrible, passive-aggressive fake 'friends' to the female lead, and by the end >!we're supposed to be okay with them because they were slightly nicer to her to get close to Kwon after they learned she was bullied in HS. Like girl, you were not much better than those bullies. They never apologize and never have any kind of comeuppance. Frankly I think they even moved on too quick from the boss being horrible to being a cutesy lovable dork-type character. Yeah it was because of a misunderstanding, but it was crazy how those three were actually causing a living hell for her for the first few episodes and it didn't matter at all in the story after that, they just expected us to move on from it.!<

Compilation of pearl-clutching over "There There" by Tommy Orange

The last one is particularly strange to me. You mean to tell me the poorest racial demographic in the US "fall into the stereotype" of... being poor? Stealing from a Pow Wow? What are you trying to say, madam?

I'm having a meetup at an opera event but it's gonna be outdoors and kinda sunny-warm (~75°F), what coord do you think is most appropriate?

First pic has two blouses because idk whether i'll be cooler with the poly chiffon (it's pretty sheer) or the cotton blouse and deciding on the boots because of the pirate vibes of that JSK

"I don't want something obscure and hard to read for my students, I'll have them read Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. I'm sure they'll appreciate it:)" The students:

Graphic novel AND assigned reading. Persepolis never stood a chance.

She copied and pasted this exact same review on BOTH books. (Beloved by Toni Morrison and Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison)

Stuff I'm decluttering and why

Catrice TruSkin Foundation - A bit old, it was a great shade match (Cool Cashmere) but I got it like 4 years ago. I know it probably has a long shelf life bc of the pump but I still rarely wore it. I’m more into tinted moisturizers.

Revlon Colorstay Limitless Matte (Icon) - I find liquid lipstick too intimidating to apply these days. And I already own a similar shade in a traditional cream lipstick. Plus i’m very conscious of the shelf life as you can tell.

Revlon Colorstay Matte Lite Crayon (Sky High) - I’m not as much into purple lipstick as I used to be.

Catrice Velvet Matt Lip Pencil (Mauve me Something?)- The lid won’t stay on and I rarely wear nudes anyway.

L.A. Girl Ulimate Eye Liner (Perpetual purple) - Wore it a couple times but pencil liners don’t stay on my eyes, they always seem to smudge.

Marilyn Monroe x WnW Powder - I bought it after the collection was old news since it was on sale. I kept the puff it came with but the powder is too warm for me, and it has shimmer/glitter.

NYX Studio HD Powder - This is easily 15 years old. It’s survived like 10 declutters because I keep swearing I’ll use it someday but no.

Pixi Powder Contour - Also easily 15 years old. I probably wore it 10 times. It’s a nice cool shade but I just don’t contour often, and I own a cream contour stick for when I do. I feel like the powder is harder to blend and looks more artificial. Plus the sharp ends of the compact are kind of uncomfy.

SFX Makeup by WNW - Idk what I thought I was gonna do with these but it’s been 3 years or so of nothing being done with them.

WnW Tinted Hydrator - It’s a good formula, although it smells a bit paint-like. It’s like 2 years old so I figured it was time to try something else.

Nars Powder Blush (Exhibit A) - This one is about 10 years old. I ruined the packaging while trying to clean it, and at some point the hinge also started to come off. It’s still usable and I actually wore this a fair bit (I know it doesn’t look like it).

Moira Soft Blush Balm (Baby Girl) - This is about a year old and I didn’t love the formula, a bit too glowy and sticky for me.

Ace Beaute Paradise Fallen palette - This is so sad but it’s like 6 years old and to be honest, I didn’t like the formula one bit. Some shades are better than others but the actual purple ones were bad (this is before the reformulation):

My hair is a level 7 (more like 6 on the roots). Can I get this color with just semipermanent over it?

In 2011 as part of the Pep rally in Rosemount HS the school decided to make this 'activity' where they would get blindfolded and someone would approach them and make out with them.

That's weird enough, let's be honest.

But then they take off their blindfolds and... it was their parents. Kissing them on the mouth. At some point one of the parents (a mom) takes her son's hand and puts it on her butt. There's video of it.

From my research, it seems that no disciplinary action was ever taken.

There was discussion of this back when it happened, but the outrage was nowhere near enough as great as it should have been. There's even a news segment about it (below) where anchors and 'experts' are downplaying it.

From the article:

"I think people need to have more of a sense of humor!" wrote one, adding, "Kudos to you for all that you do — as I do not feel as a parent there was anything offensive about the video."
