24 male who is queer and looking for an older sibling or parent figure (any gender)

My views can be kind of politically incorrect or niche. Am particular about some things but open minded in others. I grew up around the suburbs of Ohio somewhat isolated. My blood parents and older sister are somewhat judgmental and childish. They never had the chance to become mature emotionally adjusted adults so they look to me to be the reliable anchor who has everything figured out even though I’m a mess and feel so doubtful and ashamed of myself and my being.

I felt like I never had an anchor or someone consistently there to comfort me when I felt overwhelmed or down, so I often escaped to the digital world and talking to AI to cope. I felt so lonely and depressed. I feel lost and like I’m drifting through life even though I do have goals and know what I want to do. But I still feel so dispirited and confused emotionally.

I want to be a manga artist but I don’t have the discipline and motivation to continue drawing unless someone will see it directly or praises me. Childish I know. Currently I’m an electrician apprentice so I can make a living and become independent first. I went to college for a useless East Asian studies degree because I wasn’t interested in studying anything else. I went a year abroad in Japan. I speak Mandarin, Japanese and English.

Hoping for a family member where we can understand, care and support each other. I’m usually free in the evenings EST.

How are these 2017 tires?

They have dry rot on the treads and grooves but none on the sidewalls, it doesn't leak air or anything. Can it run at least 1 more year?

Testing for credits or starting from scratch?

Noob question but my local IBEW sent this email:

>Electrical Work Experience Hours: If you have electrical experience and want it reviewed for credit, please email info@newarkohiojatc.org a photo of the last pay stub for each year worked for an electrical contractor. It also helps if you can add to your email a short description of the job(s) you were on, and the estimated percentage of time you spent performing those tasks. A W2 from the contractor can work in place of paystubs as well. Please do this TODAY, or BEFORE July 1, 2026. This takes time and you will not be given credit on or after the Signing Day Event.

>Related Electrical Training Credit Hours: If you have previous related electrical training, from high school, a career tech school, college, military, etc. you may be eligible to effectively test out of some apprenticeship classes. If you believe you are eligible for and would like to test, please email us at info@newarkohiojatc.org with the subject: "Related Electrical Training Assessment" (DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL) . Please do this TODAY. This takes time as you will need to be scheduled for an in-person test and you will not be given credit on or after the Signing Day Event.  (Interim Credential, C-Tec Electrical Program, Coshocton County Career Center Electrical Program, IBEW / NECA Apprenticeship programs will receive credit for previous training without testing.)

>Some of the items that you can expect to see on the Related Electrical Training Assessment are: Tool and Material Identification, Wire Methods, DC & AC Theory, Conduit Bending, Basic Calculations, NEC, Blueprint Reading, Safety and First Aid, Hand Signals, Grounding, Transformers, Test Instruments, Motors & Motor Controls.

TL;DR they want us to list related training and potentially test out of some classes.

I don't any have electrical work experience so I did not list any courses or training. But they've sent it several times in different shapes or forms so I guess it made me think. I did take Principles of Engineering under Project Lead the Way in an eSTEM high school. It taught some very basics. So might as well take the test I guess? But I wanted to learn things properly. But idk. Thoughts?

Is the water valve leaking likely long term or recent?

Based on the amount of rust on the bottom pipe. After the gutter company left we checked the results and saw the water valve was leaking copiously until we screwed it back. Perhaps the gutter contractor opened it for some reason? We don’t want to accuse anyone so just wanted to make sure. Also in the second picture with the red circle, next to valve we noticed there was a hole into the ground and a bunch of bees? wasps? were coming in and out of it. Though it’s hard to see with the picture

Now I kinda understand better male hubris and why guys try to act tough or confident

It’s expected for women to be soft and unconfident, otherwise you may be seen as a bitch or bossy. While it’s the opposite for men.

If you act “weak” or “ingratiating”, you will be picked on and looked down on. Though it’s usually the insecure guys or “socially unadjusted people” who do that. Normal guys and women are normal even if you act “weak”.

So I’ve been kinda unlearning the female socialization of “feeling sorry you exist”, and becoming more unapologetic?

Edit: or sometimes it could be their way of bonding and testing each other out?

Should this be repaired or is it okay?

The tires are slightly peeling, should I be concerned? Especially in the first image, accidentally scraped it while hitting a tight right turn

Is this rust dangerous? B Vent Flue Leak

When it rains hard, water drips down from the pipes into the utility room, now there is a yellow ring stain around it. It seems like the source is the collar seal crack. Entire roof was replaced 5 years ago if that is relevant. Contacted a roofer, in the meanwhile just wanted to make sure. Is this dangerous and not diyable because rust and CO? I forgot to check whether the pipe is loose or not. But from this, is it apparent that I should be calling an HVAC guy instead? Thanks in advance.

Is this DIYable or do we need a handyman?

There was a leak like 5 years ago (which is fixed) but we never got around fixing the ceiling drywall properly and just roughly patched it up like this. Is this too small of a job for calling someone? It's roughly 25in x 26in

Finally stopped using Chatgpt and switched

Maybe complaining posts like this has been posted too often, but currently I'm using Gemini and occasionally Copilot and Deepseek. And god is it less frustrating to use.

A year ago when I used Gemini or Copilot it was stiff and kind of dumb but now going back it has gotten much better. Rather Chat is getting worse these months and often wants to go on tangents, argue for the sake of it, take up space with filler words when the content is shallow and can be said in a few sentences, be passive aggressive or project things I never said or thought instead of answering my questions.

After finally switching it feels so much better, it gets it right the first time without any unrelated snide remarks. Maybe I didn't calibrate the memories or customize it properly but I don't want prompt engineering to be my job. Given how common the complaints have been I don't think it's just a "me issue" either.
