Effed up old door

1.75 inches thick at this portion where old doorknob and deadbolt was. Outside edge of door also effed up. Would you cut out a rectangle all the way to the door edge and replace with a new block of wood? Seems like wood putty would not be a robust fix, since new locks and knobs will need to be in the same portion of door. Techniques? Considerations? Thanks for any input.

Any suggestions of how best to patch up the cracks on the door after sanding down and painting? What are the best products to use? Based in the UK.

Perpendicular Pocket Doors?

Has anyone ever seen perpendicular pocket doors? We have an 1869 QA with 3 full sets of side-by-side pocket doors and one of those sets has 1 door that closes perpendicularly to it. The 3 doors form one corner in the living room and the dining room. Yes, they are functional, but we leave them mostly open.

I love touring and looking at pictures of old homes, but I have never found any doors like this.

*Edited to add there are pictures of the doors closed later in the post*

Patio door rough opening shows 64.25" wide and 81.25" height from flooring (but flooring is just under half inch thick to concrete). Does this work with a standard size like 60x80?

In a townhome. I got a quote from a door guy and he claimed it was some custom size like a 63.5 or something which immediately smelled like BS because its a PUD home in a massive townhome community, the odds the builder was going 250 custom doors seems asinine.

Currently have a french door (only one side opens) that is rotting, one of those metal sandwiched on wood.

So pulled the trim, these are the measurements I got to the wood once I pulled back enough drywall and cut out a bit of spray foam. 64.25 width measured to the side framing. From the flooring up its 81.25" but I pulled the quarter round and slid my putty knife down and its just under a half inch before I feel like I hit the concrete.

Id really like to go to a fiberglass door as Im in the southeast US with the blinds inside the door and there are a ton of options if you are 60x80 so really hoping that is functional for my opening. Looking all over it sounds like it "should" but its hard with a french double door since I guess the framing can be various sizes.

Can I replace door without removing vinyl j channel?

The first and second picture is my current set up and I’m looking to replace the door with door due to a rotted jamb. Can I simply remove the metal around the existing door jamb and put the new door in with new metal trim over it without having to remove the vinyl j channel? Ultimately I think I’m trying to avoid having to replace the j channel

Front door gap issue

I have been fighting this issue off and on for some time now and I'm tired and need a real fix.

Currently there is a gap at the top of the door and the bottom hits as it closes. Both on the non hinged side. About a year ago I shimmed the bottom hinge for a gap issue I had. It worked well. Fast forward to now and I have this gap at the top. I'm guessing it has to do with heat and humidity maybe.

I did diagonal measurements with one being 87" and the other being about 86 3/4". I'm guessing this is the cause of my issue, what is the real fix?

I am very handy and usually can fix just about anything but this issue has be stumped. I've read so much such as adjusting hinges etc. Nothing has really worked.

I'm just about out of hair on my head from dealing with this.

I can’t find exterior door models with an STC rating above 32.

I looked at the Thermo-Tru noise-reduction doors, and when I dug into the STC rating, they list either 25 or 27.

Is a 1-inch door too thin for regular doorknob hardware?

I’m trying to put doorknobs on a 1-inch thick wooden door but it dawned on me that 1-inch is quite thin. Are there specialty hardware pieces I need to fit a door that thin? How can I put a doorknob on this door?

Gap under front door need to go!

I'm renting an apartment with this huge gap under the door. I'm assuming that's an old weather strip on the very bottom of the door It's bolted down, as shown in the picture I have tried taking a pool noodle, cutting it to size and sticking it on there, it worked actually really well, except I could find a good product to help keep it up there and not tear if someone's shoe bumped against it. Tried a few other things that didn't work, Could I take off the old strip myself? Without damaging the door. It's a metal door. Idk just need ideas because I'm running out of them

Can I fit a storm door here?

Hey all, trying to determine if a storm door will fit this type of back door. I’d really love the light and breeze we get. The frame feels like it’s a metal door frame and it’s a fire door, so that type of metal too. Thanks for any help!
