Knee pain after 53 mile ultra

Let me start by saying that I am not looking for medical advice necessarily, however, to see if anyone has some insight as to what happened/is going on with my knee.

I trained for and ran a 12 hour ultra on the treadmill spanning 53 miles for my own personal goals. No pain really at all until the last hour or so which I summed up to be fatigue. This was months ago at this point and since then I have been out of commission.

I have been to the doctor 3 times with no MRI. He admittedly misdiagnosed me with ITBS because I was going to go for a shot in my knee and when describing where the pain was for the 3rd time he said, "oh that's not ITBS and it shouldn't hurt there. No shot. Sorry."

I am having pain on my lateral side of my left knee basically around the fibular head. No swelling, no redness, no burning sensation. I seem to really only have pain when I run. I can walk, ride the bike, stretch, weight lift with basically no pain at all.

I'm in a bad place mentally because of this because running has been my life for a number of years. Please any advice or insight helps.

TLDR: lateral knee pain around fibular head after ultra marathon on treadmill.

Spanish Course Update?

It seems like this week there was some update that has given me a ton of content that I don’t know.

Some backstory, I have been doing the golden lessons on all of my previous lessons. I completed them all through section 4. I am currently on section 5 with both new lessons and the golden ones. This week starts and all of the sudden I’m still in section 5 with new lessons but my reviews are back in section 4 and I am getting words, flash cards, sentences, etc. for things I have literally no idea on. Is this happening to others?

Translating in head

As I am watching podcasts, reading, listening to music, etc. I find myself hearing the words that I know and in my mind actively knowing them, however, instead of hearing it as a sentence and understanding it I am almost doing one of two thing.

  1. Translating the word/words in my head to English and then missing the sentence.

  2. Focusing on as many words as I can with and effort to not translate and then I am still missing the sentence.

I hope this makes sense. I am wondering if this is apart of the learning process.

In need of tips and advice

My wife and I have been learning/re-learning Spanish (her dad is from Mexico and she was in Spanish immersion growing up but it wasn’t a traditional second language for her)

We have been religiously using Duolingo for a number of years with slow progress because it gets a little boring and has become more about xp and the diamond league than actual learning.

What are my free options or cheap options for getting to the next level? Everyone says immersion is best but how do we do that when we have no one who is fluent to correct us or keep us on track at home? If we cancel Duolingo subscription that opens up a little bit of a budget for us.

Thanks in advance!

Starting out

I was looking into car audio for a little bit and got overwhelmed with the steps and then realized that I would be able to use an at home setup even more since I stay at home with the kids.

Is there anything to simplify what I need in order to get a simple setup at home? I do want to have good sound with some bass, obviously not a lot but enough to notice. I'm fine not having a bluetooth setup as well.

I am in need of a little help and have been stood up by 3 different plumbers in my area now.

I believe my setup is a standing fiberglass shower with a mortar base and a three piece drain setup (this is all based off of knowledge that I have found online myself and I am no plumber or DIY'er)

I took my drain cover off the other week in hopes to clean it and remove the hair from the drain as there was some buildup around the silver drain cover. Upon further inspection and removal of the top plastic piece of the drain I noticed water, which has since been dried before taking photos, underneath settling around where the 4 bolts are.

I noticed when cleaning that if I applied body weight pressure around the drain a soft, wet rock sound would be made and more water, not a lot, would trickle out and settle onto the bolts again. We put a big fan on for a couple of days and have not used the shower since.

What I believe has happened, and I am not sure if it is designed this way or not, is that water has gotten to the outside of the drain due to spacing in the first photo, made its way to the rocks/mortar, and has settled somewhat. We had a damage guy come to the house and using water meters determined there is not any apparent water damage which is nice. I think the water lining or membrane has not been compromised at all.

Can anyone give me any advise on if this setup appears to be normal and working properly? Do I just put the drain back together and caulk around the drain cover and shower base? I'm at a loss and desperately need help as I cannot take another bath as a 33 year old man.
