Need help remembering video game from late 90s, early 2000s. Likely PlayStation or Xbox.

I used to love playing this video game, but haven’t been able to remember the name of it for years.

What I remember:

-pretty, less cartoony graphics. Think game of thrones time, place and aesthetics.
-you collect and trade things in the town
-I remember traveling in large sewers and collecting the tails of creatures called something like “baccites.” Maybe they were kinda lizard-y.
-the side quests were things like collecting volumes of books and bringing them places.
-the combat was hard as hell and it was team combat.

I have searched and searched and can’t find anything. Must have been a popular game—it was pretty cool. I was playing it after beating Ocarina of Time after it had just come out. Trying to fill the void!

Disabled woman cannot care for pets

Lebanon, TN, USA

Disabled woman in her 30’s trying desperately to get out of an unsafe living situation. She is being referred back and forth, doesn’t seem to meet any requirements despite being so ill she cannot shower, clean her home or care for her pets.

I’ve been looking into mutual aid in her area and I just don’t know what to do. These pets need to be evacuated immediately. She has a dog, two cats and a tortoise who are in deplorable conditions. Like, the floor is covered in piss and shit and garbage and maggots.

The system is so goddamned fucked up and if I don’t find help for her, I’m afraid she will not make it. She is tired of trying and being hit in the face with bureaucracy. Her will to live is waning rapidly.

If you know of any grassroots groups who might be able to provide aide in the Wilson County area, or know of any kind persons who might be able to take these animals in, please, please reach out.

The state is not helping. The hospitals are not helping. Her case workers are not helping. The police are not helping. She has no one and I don’t live anywhere near her so I have no one to call on.

To be transparent: one of the cats is diabetic and unwell. She has also told me that her dog doesn’t do well with other dogs. I met her pup a few years ago and she is truly such a good, sweet girl. Her personality is calm and she’s very emotionally attentive. I think she was in training to become a service animal. Despite her environment, she is in fairly good health and is taken to the vet regularly (often times because she ate some of the filth around the house.) I had no idea it was this bad. This all just breaks my heart.

Dental surgery for end-stage CKD cat.

Hi, fellow senior parents. I hope you’re all having good health days today. I have an 18-19 year-old little lady who has been kicking hospice care’s ass for over a year now. Diagnosed end-stage CKD in March of ‘24. It’s been steadily up and down with no major scares and stable, mostly good energy/appetite/poops, but I can tell her teeth are starting to bother her.

She is less interested in bigger crunchy treats and will often drop them out of her mouth. She continues to enjoy her senior kibble (very small pieces I keep out for calories alongside her wet food), so I don’t think we’re in the danger-zone just yet. She lets me rub along her chin and jawline and lift her lips up to see her gums without backing away.

My question is, how many of you have had successful dental procedures at this phase of life? I know very few people who care for their pets as well as I do and I desperately need data.

She is sweet and playful but is also a very nervous kitty and does not tolerate the pre-appointment medication well at all, so even an appt for blood work sets us back with a rough week of constipation and vomiting which I’m afraid could catalyze the end. I feel like I’m in a catch-22. What if we work on her dental discomfort and she lives another couple of years? What if we don’t and we have to say goodbye because we didn’t plan her golden year procedures well enough?

For now all Im sure of is that I will have to say goodbye when she is no longer cheerful and eating enough and if I can pragmatically prevent that from happening even for a little longer, it’ll be worth it.

Thank you for any wisdom or support. This shit is really hard.

Edit: I really appreciate you all. It warms my heart to know for sure there are people out there who care and have empathy for their critters. They deserve it. I feel much better having a this consensus. I will share a video of her silly butt soon💗

No spoilers here.

A. Fucking. wonderful. I was emotionally overwhelmed! I felt a culmination of time (mine and the game’s) during the end scenes, particularly when Zelda’s Lullaby began to play. I started with OoT when I was about nine and have been obsessed since.

  1. I just do not understand the indignant attitude players have towards this game. I get the same-world/map argument (kind of!), but other than that—what?! How is TotK anything but a respectable game? This is not coming from a confrontational perspective, I’m honesty curious. I don’t play many other games because very few compare, but I really thought it was a spectacular game.

I appreciate this community and all the fun, sweet, interesting things that are shared within it. I am already emotional about seeing and hearing Hyrule on a big screen (while still reminding myself to not get too carried away with the pre-criticisms) and looking forward to being surrounded by others who get the feeling. How lucky are we to be alive while The Legend of Zelda exists? It’s a world full of Ganondorfs and invisible skulltulas out there, but I’m glad to know there are some Links out there too💚
