My acoustic literally broke apart today. Found an Ibanez GRG121 for under $200, should I pull the trigger?

My acoustic broke after 2 months. Found an Ibanez GRG121 for under $200, should I pull the trigger?Hello everyone! RIP to my acoustic guitar — I’ve been playing it for 2 months, and it literally just broke apart. I'm taking this as a sign to finally switch to electric.I want to play rock and metal, and I just found an Ibanez GRG121 for under $200.Since I am quite new, is this a good price for this guitar? Is it going to be a smooth transition after 2 months of acoustic? Would love to hear your thoughts before I buy it. Thanks! P.S. English is not my native language, so I used Google Translate. Sorry for any mistakes!

EDIT: If anyone here has actually owned or used the Ibanez GRG121, please let me know your personal experience with it! I would love to hear from people who have played this exact model.

UPDATE: The exact model is Ibanez GRG121PAR-KBF. It has a fixed F106 bridge (hardtail), an Okoume body with a Poplar Burl art grain top, and dual IBZ-6 humbuckers. Since it doesn't have a cheap tremolo, does it change your mind about the tuning stability? Thanks!

wtf black album is insane

hey everyone, i just listned to the whole album and tbh im in shock. the sound is amazing, and i'm so glad we can finally hear the bass! it is so loud and clear. enter sandman is definitly a banger, one of the best tracks. that bass intro is great, and james sounds like a scary villain. sad but true is just insane — that main gitar riff is super heavy and cool. as for the unforgiven and nothing else matters, these were the first metallica songs i ever heard. i downloaded them on my phone and had them on repeat all the time. the gitar solos are amazing. honestly, all the solos on this album are so good. don't tread on me has a great rhythm and james sings with so much energy. through the never has amazing drums, and when james shouts "through the never," it feels super cool. the god that failed is very dark and angry, and the bass is super clear here too. the whole album has such a good groove — honestly, it reminds me of limp bizkit. there are no bad songs here, every track is a banger. also english is not my native language, so sorry for any mistakes. what are your favorite songs from this album?

holy shit master of puppets is insane

hey guys, back with master of puppets. english is not my first language so keeping it simple.

i just listened to the whole album. ngl, every single song here is a total banger.

battery is the first track and it is an absolute banger. it starts with a slow acoustic intro, but then the heavy electric guitars just explode. some people might find this drop scary or shocking, but not me. i listen to nu-metal, so i love this kind of contrast. it’s like my own summer by deftones where it goes from quiet to loud out of nowhere.after that intro, the song goes absolutely crazy. i think it has some of the fastest drums in metallica history, at least so far from what i've heard. lars is just smashing it. but it's not just random fast noise — the song has this insane, heavy groove. it makes you want to move your head immediately.

then we go to the title track, master of puppets. man, this song slaps so hard. it is long, but you don't even notice. those guitar riffs are pure fire. james is like a riff factory here. the main groove is heavy as hell, it just forces you to headbang. and that melodic part in the middle? holy peak.

also, disposable heroes is just unbelievable. the groove on this one is insane, it makes you want to smash things. and the vocals? man, james sings with so much raw emotion here. he sounds like he is screaming his lungs out, it is so crazy and heavy. it just goes so hard.

and i have to mention damage inc. the drums here are just as fast as battery. the guitar solos are super fast and beautiful (honestly you can say this about the whole album). this track has the same insane heavy groove as battery and disposable heroes, it just doesn't stop.

also if you wonder why i didn't talk about welcome home (sanitarium) — to be honest, it feels a bit boring to me. i think fade to black is just way better.

anyway, this album is a 10/10 for me. what do you guys think?

My first impressions of Ride the Lightning (New fan review!)

Hey guys! As promised, I’m back with my review of Ride the Lightning. Since my background is mostly Nu-Metal and Alt-Metal (Linkin Park, Slipknot, Korn, Limp Bizkit), this was a completely fresh experience for me.

Honestly, when I finished listening to this album, it gave me the exact same chills and emotions as when I heard Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory for the very first time.

Here are my thoughts:

Fade to Black: This song absolutely blew me away. It completely carried me away into another world. The acoustic guitar intro, the emotional vocals, and that massive instrumental outro... it’s a pure masterpiece. Easily my absolute favorite on the album.

The Call of Ktulu: I also have to mention this instrumental. Wow. It is an absolute masterpiece! The way it builds up atmosphere without any lyrics is incredible.

Ride the lightning and Escape : The title track is just pure energy. And Escape is another huge favorite for me — I loved the rhythm and the catchiness of it.

What surprised me the most: The guitar solos! Coming from bands like Korn and Slipknot, I’m not used to such long, intricate guitar solos, but Kirk Hammett is insanepowerful, and the solos are just incredibly beautiful. It adds so much epicness to the songs.

Overall, the entire album is incredibly energetic and flows so well that it's a breeze to listen to from start to finish. I totally understand why everyone told me to start here. This album is heavy, emotional, and powerful.

What should I listen to next? Master of Puppets or ...And Justice for All? Let me know!

New fan here (with a Nu-Metal background)! Where should I go next?

Hey everyone!

I’m pretty new to Metallica. I’ve been a huge Linkin Park fan for years (as you can tell by my username), and my playlist is mostly full of Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Deftones.

Recently, I started diving into Metallica's discography and I’m absolutely hooked. My 2 favorites are enter sandman and master of puppets.

I wanted to ask the community: in your opinion, what is their absolute best album, and which one should I listen to next, keeping my music taste in mind?

Thanks in advance for the recommendations! Rock on.
Edit: Forgot to mention in the post: I also listen to a lot of Slipknot! So yeah, I definitely love the heavier stuff. Thanks for all the suggestions so far!

Thinking of getting a Joyo JF-35 Pocket Metal. Is it actually a good pedal

Hey everyone!

I'm currently looking for a budget-friendly high-gain distortion and stumbled upon the Joyo JF-35 Pocket Metal. The price is obviously great, and the metal housing seems solid,

For those who have used or owned it:

1.Does it actually deliver a tight, modern metal tone, or does it get too fizzy/muddy?

2.How well does the "Mid" control shape the tone? Can it scoop?

3.How does it cut through a mix or handle bedroom-level practice volumes?

For context, I mostly play nu-metal and alternative rock using a guitar with humbuckers.

Is this pedal worth it for the price, or should I save up for something else? If you think there are better budget alternatives (like Behringer, TC Electronic, or other Joyo pedals like the Extreme Metal), please let me know!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Which Linkin Park song can you kinda sing AND scream? alt-rock dilemma

Hey everyone,

Hypothetical question time. Let’s say you’re home alone, the volume is at 100, and you're feeling like a total rockstar. Which Linkin Park track can you actually kinda sing and scream without completely destroying your vocal cords?

Personally, I’m pretty comfortable with Chester’s clean vocals. I can lowkey deliver on tracks like Leave Out All the Rest, In the End, Numb, New Divide, and What I've Done without sounding like a dying cat. But the second the screaming starts? That’s where the real challenge begins.

We all know Chester was a literal god and nobody can match his 17-second scream in Given Up (respectfully, my throat burns just thinking about it, I'm a total casual lmao).

But be honest, which song makes you feel like you've unlocked Chester-mode for both parts, even if it's just in your car or the shower? Do you pull off the bridge in Faint, or maybe you actually try to hit the heavy stuff in One Step Closer?

Please comment

Which song do you think is the most saddest ?Hands down the saddest song ever. 'One More Light' by LP always hits different. Instantly brings me to tears every time I think about Chester. RIP legend
