Help with rent and expenses after three accidents
This past year has been very unlucky for my fiancé and I, to say the least. Last July, he was in an accident due to a steering system malfunction, and the car was totaled. We used the insurance payout to buy a smaller, slightly newer car. Almost exactly 6 months later, in almost exactly the same place, he got t-boned by someone speeding into the lane of oncoming traffic, and that car was also totaled. My fiancé now has PTSD with cars and driving, as well as injuries to both of his hands. He had to quit his physical labor job, and has since been searching for a new position, but as I'm sure you know the job market is awful right now.
Then in May, I was stuck by a car as a pedestrian by someone quite literally not looking where he was going. I was already halfway across the street when this person decided to turn while looking in the direction opposite of where he was going. My left knee, ankle, and hip were injured, as well as my lower back. Following this accident, I had to wait a month before being referred to physical therapy, which I've recently been cut off from, I've been intimidated by police, I was illegally terminated from one of my jobs, and I've been dealing with the slow process of insurance claims for months.
We had taken the insurance payout from my fiancé's second accident and just kept it to help with bills. Our rent is $1445 (which is insane, because it was 800 in 2018), plus we pay for electric and internet. I also now take an uber or lyft to and from work everyday, since we no longer have a vehicle. My now sole job is commission based and very much influenced by the economy, and unfortunately I'm making on average $300/week. My last paycheck was $180. As stated before, I was illegally terminated from my other job that I held simultaneously, on the grounds of them not being able to "accommodate" my need for a cane. Mind you, they have employees who use canes and even wheelchairs. I had been with them for four years and had no issues with them until this. So as it stands, when I'm financially able, I want to take legal action against both my former employer, and the person who hit me.
The financial part is the problem though. We've officially run out of money. We tried to make it work, but we're drowning. We're both far more disabled now than we were at the start of the year, and we don't know what to do. We've had foodstamps taken from us, I'm fighting for the peanuts I'll get from partial unemployment, I'm still waiting on insurance to do what they need to do, and in the meantime, we're scrounging and side-hustling. It's not enough though. If you can help, even if it's just sharing the gfm, we would greatly appreciate it. Anything helps right now.
