Looking for someone to look at our basement floor.
For context, I’ve been working out(lifting weights) for 9 years. I started out doing more of a bodybuilding style, but do functional fitness with mainly just dumbbells. However, I’ve been under incredibly stressful issues for the past 1.5 years. I got two viral illnesses back to back, end of March early April and then again mid April. The first one was confirmed influenza A and the second one I never tested for anything but I got exposed to 2-3 people with confirmed RSV. I don’t know what I had for sure. It could’ve been anything. For the second virus I developed a headache and it never went away, but I felt better. I do feel better for the most part. I have bad days, I am able to walk sometimes. Doing my workouts which make me so happy, I can no longer do. I know it has to be my nervous system in a chronic fight or flight. I also developed anger issues due to a traumatic experience and it’s been like that since then. I’ve been going through family issues now for 1.5 years. For an example, I freak out and lose it if my husband has a slight tone in his voice. I cannot handle people being upset with me after this traumatic experience with my family. I lose it and I want to run away. Now since I got sick in May I started to rerun to working out after a few weeks off to heal from my sickness. I did fine for a bit, I felt a bit weak but nothing crazy. One morning(I always got up at 4-430 to workout) and I crashed. Shaking! Like literally internally shaking. It’s like my body cannot handle any more stress in any form, and it views my high HRs as bad/alarming. I know I do have post viral syndrome but it seems to be affecting my nervous system and now movement is just not happening. Is there a way to fix this? I started doing low-dose nicotine patches and that has honestly helped my PEM but I don’t think I’ll be able to lift till my body feels safe again. I’ve implemented deep breathing, going to counseling, and getting good sleep. What else am I missing?
*edit to add I seem to do okay with walks with my HR around 111-120bpm. I do them on my walking pad in the AC. Lifting (functional training) though, I cannot do.
Going to be going on our late honeymoon soon, and I’m planning on working out when we’re gone for a week. We are going on the Legend to Cayman Islands and Cozumel in November. Also, is there a lot of options to eat healthy and high protein? I know it’s a vacation and I do plan to indulge a bit but I want to stay on track for my main meals because I feel best when I eat healthier. This is our first cruise so we have no idea what we’re doing.
First off, I’ve scoured this forum and found some helpful tips. To begin with, I work around sick people and got influenza A but made a great recovery from that in March and April and went back to my normal active lifestyle. I’m almost 32F. I’ve been working out for nearly 9 years consistently. I do functional fitness. Most recently, I got sick from someone at my job(a person I take care of) coughed in my face. This was a Monday and by Thursday I was incredibly sick. We had a lot of RSV going around, influenza, unsure about COVID..hadn’t heard about any but I’m sure it was around. Everyone had coughs. Currently my main issues are:
- Headache on top of my head, pressure mostly.
- Limb weakness
- Occasional inner trembling
- Occasional sleepiness but I seem to wake up and be able to go to work. I just have to take breaks occasionally or sit down more.
- Extremely painful neck, shoulders, between shoulder blades, and lower back pain.
- Occasional inflammation in my forearms, hands, and fingers.
- My symptoms didn’t start for almost a month after I was sick and it seems like everyone else started right after their sickness. The only issue I had was the lingering headache but I felt great.
I am looking for advice on how to help alleviate these symptoms.
My story & timeline is below.
In February, I got sick with two separate little viral illnesses. I recovered each time. I was fine for most of March, but I had extreme hip tightness during this time. I was still able to workout lightly a few times week. Around March 20th, I got horribly sick with influenza A & that was confirmed by my PCP. I was sick till about April 12th-ish and waited to workout for a couple weeks, and when I went back I started walking for a week before introducing lifting back in. I made a full recovery and felt amazing. Literally amazing. I was great until a bunch of people at work got sick and I was coughed on by a person I take care of plus exposed to a bunch of other people at the beginning of the week. By Thursday I knew I was getting sick again. This was around the middle of May. By the weekend I was full blown coughing, hacking, just overall not feeling great. I was sick for probably a week or week and a half. I required breathing treatments again, this time it just wouldn’t go away as easy as it had with two breathing treatments with influenza A. Once it did, I gave myself about a week and a half to wait and start slow movement, light walks(15 minutes). While I had recovered completely from this illness which I suspect to be RSV but I never checked or got tested for anything. I just assumed due to that’s what one or two of my guys I take care of at work had and got confirmed. A couple weeks go by and by this time I had worked out a few times a week with the headache(because we’ve all worked out with headaches before) no biggie, right? I felt fine so I must be fine🤷🏻♀️ around June 16th a month after being sick I am up at 430 in the morning getting my lift in at home and it was a Thursday so upper body day and I was probably 20 minutes into my 30 minute workout and the workout included floor chest presses and I’m on like the second set of these and I go to put the weight back up and my arms start trembling and then my body goes weak literally like someone unplugged me from a wall…just gone. My entire body just shut down. I laid there for a minute and then I feel kind of okay and want to see if I can walk on my walking pad which is right by where I was working out at. I get up and press the button on the remote and start trying to walk on a slow speed and that’s when I realize that I need to go lay down immediately. I go to my couch, arms are very shaky at this point. I get very sleepy but I got to get up in 40 minutes to get ready for work. So I let myself rest and I feel horrible when my 40 minute rest is up. Friday comes and I’m feeling the same, still trembling and I spend most of the weekend on the couch just feeling shaky, not even able to really hold my phone and Kindle because my arms are so weak and heavy. I rest the rest of the weekend and go back to work without much improvement. I feel the same way the rest of the following week and I make an appt with my naturopath I’ve been seeing for 4 years. His conclusion is I likely have some kind of virus in my body that just doesn’t want to leave. I get some new supplements and after a few days I do feel better from trembling. However, my left eye starts twitching. I still have the headache then WHOOPS I forgot a whole day of supplements(Cytozyme-SP) which helps the spleen. I got busy being a foster mom and wife that I completely forgot. Within a day or two the eye twitching stops but my weakness comes back. Ever since then I am back at square one feeling this way. I cannot be active whatsoever, my arms(and legs not as bad as arms) are SOOO weak. I was sleepy off and on during this time. Especially the days after I worked out. A week or so of this goes by and now I’m incredibly inflamed with all previous mentioned issues. I feel pain in my forearms, fingers/hands, my legs, then my back starts up again hurting. Went to PCP this time, get blood work to rule out EBV virus re-activation from mono I had at age 15. Everything came back as perfect. It kinda hurts to slightly push to let myself urinate. I have been doing counseling to help with stressors, post trauma processing, etc. as I think stress tanked my immune system.

For about a week, I’ve been having issues with what my natropath thinks is an infection from being sick so much with viral issues(sick 6X in 5.5 months). I had two big viruses Flu A in March and RSV in May when this all started. Friday I started getting really weak limbs, headache that feels like it’s in the center of my head, sore right between my eyebrows, and TMJ issues….and it feels like someone tied weights to my arms/legs. I was given a nasal spray that helps get rid of fungal, bacterial, and viral. I never had any issues till I had RSV. I made a full recovery with influenza A. I feel so weak and I’m over it. I don’t even have the stamina to sit and rock in a rocking chair. My legs are so weak, along with my arms. Last week I was lifting weights, this week I can barely move. It’s really bizarre. Has anyone ever had symptoms like this or known someone? I’ve Googled every single thing I can think of, I just want relief because it’s really really hard mentally to keep going through these things.
I really, really want the stocking and merchandising job. I had an interview last week and I feel like I’d really like how busy it is. I feel like the interview went well, I saw online there’s a 50-70% chance of being hired after being pulled for an interview as they filter through and if they have no interest in you they won’t even interview someone.
I recently applied for the merchandise and stocking position for mornings, can anyone tell me about this positions? Pros and cons, schedule, etc. I’m excited and hopeful that it’ll be a good fit for me.
We leave in November for a week long cruise. I don’t want to pay the prices for WiFi on the ship. My husband and I are trying to figure out if we’d even have service while in the middle of the ocean, or just on land?
I don’t even know if this is the right place, but I am so lost. In 2022, I found out I have double C677T copies of MTHFR and did a whole lifestyle change. I know my detox pathways aren’t open very well, as I struggle with a lot of different health ailments. My entire life I was always my mom’s “sick child” who had weird health issues. Since January things have taken a turn for the worse(explained below). I take elderberry gummies for immune health and recently got some vitamin c powder for my drink to help my immune system. I workout 4-5X a week every morning and walk almost everyday and average 15k steps a day. I’m very active. I eat a high protein diet with mainly whole nutritious foods. I work in a healthcare type setting. I’m primarily gf/organic to avoid folic acid.
January(EOM):
Got sick with a viral infection.
Sore throat and got over it in a few days. This was after hurting my back on MLK day. I had excruciating back pain/very tight glutes and that lasted till March(when I was recovering from Flu A(confirmed).
February:
Thursday before Valentine’s Day I had REALLY bad GI pain and ended up getting worse and had a terrible sore throat, headache, etc. had such horrible diarrhea and it made my stomach hurt for a few days like my intestines were inflamed.
March: Got better and symptoms came back end of month.
I was fine for the first couple weeks into March. We got beautiful weather and then around the 20th I woke up with the worst headache, sore throat, and it developed into a fever. The WORST cough I’ve ever experienced. I was sick from here on till about April 9th-10th. I made a full recovery and was back to lifting after taking time off which ultimately helped my back heal too, by taking off those weeks to recover from influenza A. I was doing soooo good after this. Primary care doctor told me to go dairy free so I did for over a month to heal my back and help with congestion from Flu A. It made me feel really good, so I don’t do a lot of dairy still but I’m not 100% d/f.
May:
Around the late middle of May, I was exposed to RSV at work and ended up getting what I think was RSV because of high exposure. I didn’t go to dr this time to confirm. I got really sick, no fever but temp was slightly elevated. This time I started with sore throat, headache, sneezing, sore ears(and very itchy ears), chest cough. I then started feeling better and now having issues with balance, ears still kinda bothering me, I’m SOOO utterly bone tired. Like wiped out where sleep doesn’t help. Yesterday, I was feeling good when I woke up and so I decided to workout. I’ve only been doing 3x a week because I didn’t want to over do it getting back to it after “RSV” so I was doing upper body and about 10 minutes in to my workout my arms just give out in the middle of my lift and it’s not like a normal “workout push yourself too hard” it felt like someone literally unplugged me from an outlet and my energy depleted and my arms started shaking and shook most of the day yesterday. I don’t feel sick or anything. I think my body is sooo out of wack from all the viral load it’s experienced over the last 5 months it just can’t take anymore and it’s tired and stressed. I made an appt for my naturopath and go next Friday.
Some thoughts I’ve had:
The people I take care of are all very much poked and probably multiple times boosted maybe that’s why I’m getting sick all the time as I am extremely sensitive to pokes. This is my second year working and didn’t get sick but once or twice with a cold the first year. I feel significantly worse at work, than at home.
Stress:
I’ve been significantly more stressed out this year due to family messes.
Mold in garage:
Taken care of but we just found it in Mid-May. Fridge condensation caused mold on wall. Our garage is not connected to house, but my car has always been parked in there. No one else has had symptoms (or been sick like this in my home). I’m the only one in healthcare setting though. Today, my arms especially feel so weak. And I have pain between my eye brows.
I’m mostly just venting but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, or just prayers for complete healing I greatly appreciate it. I feel like I’ve missed so much of the last 5 months of my life laying on the couch 😭
Our foster son(age 5) is staying back next year in his private school 5s pre-k because he didn’t really get into school until the last few weeks of school. He’s been through a lot in the last two years and he’s incredibly shy and doesn’t have the confidence. I want to work with him everyday on word sounds, writing his letters, working on identifying numbers and writing them. He’s good with singing his ABCs, writing them(could use more practice) and he identifies most of his letters out loud…but he definitely needs work and since school is out, I don’t want him to forget over the summer. I really only know of The Good and the Beautiful curriculum and I do like some of their samples. However, I just want to know what else is out there. I like curriculums that tell me what to do and how to teach it.
Our detached garage fridge got accidentally pressed up against the wall, no one realized it. The wall became moldy behind it(2x4 section) approximately. We called two mold remediation companies, they both told us products to use to kill off spores(same story from both) as we wanted two opinions. We did all that. We were told to use a mold killer, mold primer and paint and see after 30 days if it comes through we’d need to get it remediated further where’d they’d cut the wall and go in and correctly fix it. Both companies believe it’s just on the surface. My husband had never seen mold, so he tried cleaning it thinking it was dirt before alerting me that he thought it was mold. So he used a cloth and now I’m having horrible anxiety he spread spores all over. We have some strollers, an expensive cloth wagon we JUST got, and an extra car seat. We cannot afford to throw away all of our stuff, his thousands of dollars of tools, air compressors, etc. will ozoning our garage get rid of the spores? We have a five stall garage, where two stall in front connecting to a three stall in back by draw door. I’m a worry wart when it comes to mold because our rental place we came from had black mold that I discovered as we were packing to move. I was horribly sick all the time and didn’t understand why till I found that. There’s so much information it’s incredibly scary and daunting to read. I just don’t want our stuff ruined, please be kind because this has been hard on me.
I had influenza A March 20th-April 10th was around the time my symptoms stopped and I was able to finally get back to working out and doing normal without coughing my brains out. Fast forward to this past Thursday evening, I’m sick again…symptoms slightly different. This time I had a stuffy nose, sore throat, dizzy(very weird), and horrible can’t-catch-my-breath cough. I’m on day five and most of my symptoms have gone away, but the weakness, slight dizziness(especially after laying down), and my cough is very persistent. My job I am around a lot of nonverbal adults and they get sick and can’t tell us. We had a few with RSV, so I’m suspecting I probably have that vs the flu again, but maybe not. How can I boost my immune system? I’ve gotten sick FIVE times in 2026 so far. So pretty much each month I’ve had something. I take 50 mg of elderberry with zinc, but I don’t think it’s enough.
Looking at a gently used one, wondering if the price is worth it! I want a second device that’s smaller from my Kindle Fire HD 8 to take with me on the go.
