I don’t know how it would sell or if she’s too niche for a non musical role, but I think Renee Elise Goldsberry would be a wonderful Mary. Her role as Wickie in Girls5Eva has shades of Mary and I’d love for Paula Pell to come in as a replacement for Bianca Leigh.
I don’t know if both of them are single, but I truly thought they really connected. I think they’d be a good pair.
Celebrating the biggest box office weekend in history by putting together a "Zenn" (Zendaya + Venn) Diagram also calling out her earlier success with "The Drama" and certain upcoming success with "Dune Part Three". Congratulations to all. #weresoback
I’m trying to get some children’s books on famous filmmakers for my niece and nephew. I‘ve come across these, but are there others y’all are aware of? I tried posting this in other subs but only one photo was allowed. All of these are Oscar winners so hopefully that helps legitimize this post for this sub.
I had the pleasure of seeing The Odyssey in IMAX 70MM last week, but today saw it in OC standard format. I had the entire theater to myself and understood so many narrative elements better and obviously didn’t miss any dialogue. They also subtitle some of the Bard’s words in the background at the end which I otherwise wouldn't have noticed at all.
I know poster headings have more to do with actor’s contracts than the finished film, but I also find billing a helpful mechanism to set my expectations on role size. In Oppenheimer, you had many notable people like Kenneth Branagh, Casey Affleck, Gary Oldman, etc. fully omitted from marketing materials.
In The Odyssey, you had some pretty big stars do press for a film they were hardly in. Some commenters said they appreciated the use of high profile talent because it expedited the care they had for that character. I almost prefer less recognizable folks who don’t take me out of the film as much like a Samantha Morton v. Charlize Theron.

I hate the double “with” but whaddayagonnado?
I don’t know how reputable their “recently listed” page is, but people kept commenting about a Lynch box and Disney losing the rights. Just thought I’d share.
I love this and am hoping Sorry, Baby will follow suit on disc and book.
I hate when something arrives and then is immediately sent for return to due to damage in transit.
I don’t mean in the sense of it’s popular, but you wish it was more popular - I mean a film that people haven’t really heard about.
I was over at someone’s house and pointed out “All Fours“ by Miranda July asking if they’d seen any of her films because they enjoyed the book so much. The hadn’t. I went on to rave about Kajillionaire and how I thought it was supremely good and genuinely underrated. I think its release and associated attention was a casualty of the pandemic as I know many things were (here’s looking at you MASS).
But I don’t think Kajillionaire gets barely the attention it deserves. It’s wildly original, tonally distinct, and structurally so fulfilling. It‘s daffy, uncomfortable, and sweet in varying degrees. I wish more folks would shout it out as one of the better comedic releases in the past decade.
Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but I was excited to hear who was doing what. I also wondered if it would be a rep situation where they’d trade off monologues or Kecia as the eldest cast member would play Blonde Girl. The assignments are pretty standard, but I’m still very excited to hear about this.
