A place for dinner

We will be up Friday for a show at The Saturn and are looking for a place for dinner between the La Quinta south of town and the venue. Not into BBQ, burger joints etc. prefer mom and pop made from scratch type places, no chains. Great fish tacos on homemade tortillas a plus. Thanks!

Shrimp Etouffe. Homemade

We were supposed to go to the beach but the forecast was doom and gloom. Turned out to be a sunny day after all made even better with some Etouffe made with my new roux stirrer, and skillet cornbread.

Daniel at Jazz Fest sit ins

I have seen Daniel the last three years he has played at Jazz Fest and got a double dose two years ago. I just listened to the show from last week and as a New Orleans resident I really wish he would come to the Big Easy some other time of the year because IMO the sit-ins are getting ridiculous. I think we only heard 4 of their tunes. GPJ can sit in anytime as far as I'm concerned and I enjoyed Al Schnier and the jam with Graham Lesh was definitely commendable. I could have done without the rest and it seems Grace Bowers is the new Taz, who got old quick. Just a thought, and probably not a popular one. I'll still go next year but please come again next time you head south so I can get some undiluted DDCC.

Go to the show, buy the records

Saw Dogs in a Pile and Danny Donato during Jazz Fest, the most wonderful time of the year. I have plenty of shirts. You can never have too many records. As a plus my wife really liked the DIAP record. Winning!

45th anniversary of the show that got me completely on the bus. It was my first Hampton and third show overall. I went from "sounds like a good party let's go" to holy amazeballs this is a band beyond description. I remember in my lysergic altered state just being gobsmacked after the show and this head looked at me, smiled and said "Yes, this was a good one. It's why we do it." I listen to this show more than any other I went to and yes, I agree with the guy off camera that it is the best Althea.

This 64 y.o. old fart is going to take a nap after work so I can make the show tonight in New Orleans. I can't figure out why the late start but I missed them last year so I'll just be worthless at work tomorrow. Who else is going?
