Forklift harasses her mom

She's the most playful of the litter! The first to start manipulating objects (aka picking up toys), seeking her mom out to play instead of just to nurse, & to play tug with people. I initially claimed her because her color is objectively the prettiest, but now she's growing into the exact temperament & personality I want, so my brother will have no choice but to place her with me! 😈

Raspberry growing out of a maple tree!

This silly goose is trying its hand at being an epiphyte. Seems to be a good way to avoid competition! Has anyone else seen odd plants growing on trees?

Forklift 💕

The puppy from my brother's litter that I've claimed. She was the first born, first to bust out of the whelping box, & is the most beautiful in the litter. Her temporary name is "Hibiscus" because my brother did a "tea" theme but her name is clearly Forklift.

Weed? No. He is my beautiful son, the Ribwort Plantain.

I thought for sure, the way the shoots were so evenly placed between my heuchera, that it had to be something I planted, so I left it. Now, it is clearly the common Ribwort Plantain, however, it is growing strong with miracle gro & looks like it's supposed to be there, so it will remain.

I hate this thing. What should I do?

This guy, I believe it's a Chamaecyparis species, was presumably planted by the landlady or previous tenants. It's directly next to the house & the color of piss. My land lady has given me permission to do whatever I want regarding the landscaping, including removing this thing....I've already removed its half-dead brother. I did prune it back last year & it does look a bit better...I just think it's still ugly & obtrusive.

My question is, should I just keep trying to prune it & encourage it to look less hideous? Or should I just chop it down & put something I enjoy? I hate to waste a life even though it's ugly...if I were to yoink up some of its roots with it, could I potentially replant it elsewhere on the property?

Thanks!

"It's raining! You don't need to water!"

"Retarded Lowe's employee, watering when it's raining," I hear someone say, look up to see 2 customers, one with his phone up and taking a picture of me. I make eye contact, I then look up at the roof. The customers look away sheepishly. Hopefully they delete the picture, but I don't have the energy to actually speak to them. 3rd time someone has commented on me watering the plants while it's raining today, every time we are actively standing under the canopy portion of the Garden Center. The plants I'm watering are not being rained on.

Even if I were watering the plants that are exposed to the rain, it's an underserved comment. The plants are in containers, their leaves cover the soil, unless it's a downpour, the rain simply can't penetrate to the roots. It bounces off the leaves with most species & watering is still necessary.

I usually like my job & most of my customers are nice, but the times where I'm treated subhumanly really do suck. This is the second time I've been called retarded in the last 2 days related to me simply doing my job. The time before, I was watering the plants, a customer was waiting in line & angry about it, asked why I couldn't "get [my] ass up there on the other register," when I ignored him he suggested it was because I was retarded & that's why they had me watering. Nevermind the fact that I'm an MSA & not allowed on the register.

It's that insult that gets to me the most, too- I am autistic & it's clear when I speak; I've got a stutter, & I've just got that "look" about me according to others. Despite this, our numbers are good in the live nursery, our walks go well, I'm genuinely good at my job, most customers are appreciative of my knowledge of our product & plants in general. & of course I don't think the others are calling me that word because they can tell I am autistic, they're just trying to imply that I'm lesser than them due to my position. Still stings, though, especially since plants are a special interest of mine & that directly helps me succeed at work... I've had to spend so much time convincing myself that I'm deserving of respect even as an autistic & these folks really do their best to unravel that work sometimes.

Okay, vent over. Back to watering in the rain (;

Lightweight mineral near Watertown, NY

It's lightweight & airy, 6.5 Mohs. I don't know anything about minerals, I just thought it was odd.

Arlo the Lowe's Cat

Jumped out of a Costa shipment and terrified one of my green team crew while she was merchandising the shipment. We're in upstate NY, dude's a Cuban tree frog, so he's getting a nice bioactive tank to live out the rest of his days. Might be crazy invasive elsewhere in the country, but now he's now our MST mascot. The team member he scared got to name him. You think I can convince the SM to let us keep his tank in the manager office? 😁
