Men with careers, would you date someone who is still figuring it out?

24f and I am still in college, still working a retail job, and still not 100 percent sure what I want to do in the future. I haven’t really dated for the past couple of years because I’ve just been trying to focus on school, and personal life things. I’m kind of scared to try dating again because I feel like I’m “behind” a lot of people in my age range or older. Maybe it’s just an insecurity of mine, but I have this feeling of not being “good enough” to date right now, or feeling like I’m not “ready” yet because I still haven’t really stepped into a career yet. Do you think me still establishing myself is a barrier to dating?

24f, looking for friends!

Hi! I’m 24f, from the US, and looking to make friends. A little about me:

For hobbies, I like playing games on my switch, and I enjoy exercise/running. I also just like to learn a lot about random different topics. At the moment, I’m really into watches lol. Feel free to reach out or ask questions! (Edit: if you message me, please include age! Adults only!)

How to not take things so personally?

I’m a relatively new tech and I keep getting my feelings hurt by clients. My clients are young, mostly the 4-6 range. I had my first physical aggressions today, and I’m fine physically but i think it’s taking more of an emotional toll.
Logically I know the reason they aren’t as engaged with me or are having more behaviors is because I’m a new person to them. But I still feel like I’m screwing up when things go sideways or I can tell the kids don’t like me as their technician.

Why do people quit so soon?

I’ve read and seen stories about newly hired BTs showing up for training and quitting/ghosting the job early on. Does anyone have insight on why people do this? Is there a way to avoid it?

References for RBT position?

Hello, I have an interview for an entry-level RBT job coming up. I’m planning on bringing my resume with me to the interview. Do companies typically ask for references as well?

Scheduled my first RBT interview!

Aaaand I’m nervous. It’s a 45 minute long interview and I’m under the impression that it may be a panel interview. I’m not certified yet but I’ve been trying my best to educate myself on the role for the past few weeks while job searching. Any advice or encouragement would be appreciated

Accepted into masters program with no direct experience?

Hello, just posting to get people’s opinions and advice. I was recently accepted into an online master’s program in Applied Behavior Analysis, but I have essentially no direct ABA/RBT experience. Now I’m second-guessing whether I should start the program right away. I do have a couple of years of experience volunteering with people who have special needs.

My original plan was to begin the master’s in January while looking for an entry-level Behavior Technician/RBT position at the same time. But part of me wonders if I’d be better off delaying the program for a semester or two, getting some hands-on experience first, and then starting graduate school once I have a stronger foundation.

I know a lot of learning happens on the job, but I also don’t want to be taking graduate-level ABA courses without understanding what the day-to-day work actually looks like. On the other hand, I don’t want to lose momentum if starting now is perfectly reasonable.

For those of you who are BCBAs, RBTs, or current ABA graduate students:

Did you start your master’s before getting ABA experience, or after?

If you could do it over again, would you do anything differently?

Would you recommend starting school immediately, or focusing on gaining experience first?

I’d really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have supervised new clinicians or have been in a similar position.

Accepted into grad school!

I’ll be finishing up at SNHU very soon and have been applying to a couple of different schools to continue my education. I was just accepted into Florida Tech, which was my first choice for my program! If I could go back to a few years ago, I don’t think I could picture this for myself. I’m feeling very grateful today

Had a dental surgery and can only drink liquids for the next 48 hours 😭

And I can eat only soft foods for the next few weeks. At least the shake is yummy?

Billie Eilish helped me finally go vegan

I know there’s been a lot of online discourse about the statement Billie Eilish made about eating meat being inherently wrong, and about how you can’t eat meat and love animals. I just wanted to come on here and say I that I think watching that interview and seeing the way people reacted to it has been the final push I needed to fully commit to transitioning to veganism. Of course it’s something i had thought about prior, and I’m not a fan of certain meats and dairy products to begin with, but the whole situation made me realize that some people are seriously lacking in the critical thinking and accountability department, and I don’t want to be one of those people. It’s only been a little over a week, but I’ve completely cut out any animal products from my diet because of this situation and feel great about it so far
