My toddler has said he wants to be a campfire for Halloween. I have many ideas, just not sure how to go about them? I am not super crafty, but my husband is handy and can make anything.

I have considered cellophane potentially around a hoola hoop (with suspenders of some sort) with maybe a little fan built in? Fairy lights? Or maybe just a good old box with pool noodles for logs. Just looking for others’ creative ideas here, thanks!!

I work in public school so I’ve been off for the summer, just went back this week. I started my journey in March but two+ months of not seeing everyone (plus losing about 25 lbs more since I saw them last) made it really apparent. I have gotten so many compliments, people saying I look great! Plus I needed a wardrobe overhaul so I’m feeling much more confident and I’m sure it shows. Oh and; got our staff shirts on Friday, I fit into an adult large now which would have been laughable this time last year 😁

I just recently posted about our potty training success and yet here I am, coming back at ya with what I’m gonna say is a parenting fail and not on my kiddo.

We’ve been loosely following Oh Crap, started with the 3 days naked and moved into commando. No issues. We are I think 11 days in now. Also, this is my first and only child and I know nothing. I thought commando for learning toddlers was like, the norm.

He’s at summer camp this week. First day went great. Second day (today), I got a call from the camp director at the end of the day. She was so very sweet. Little man had a poop accident. At camp. Commando. Idk the specifics but he came home with new shorts AND no socks on, so it must have been… bad. They let me know that for the safety and hygiene of all the kids, he must come wearing underwear tomorrow “to contain things”. I am just MORTIFIED!! Like, have an accident, that’s fine and normal and expected. But omg, they must think I’m some neglectful nut job when they went to help him and saw no underwear on him AND no extras in his backpack?!!? I want to crawl into a hole!!!

Disclaimer, he’s 3 years 3 months, we probably waited too long but no one was in a rush, especially including him 🤷‍♀️

We are on day 6. He’s taken to it magnificently. Today was full of self-initiations, successfully using a different potty outside of our house (library), and tons of proud moments.

What’s crazy to me though, is all the other changes. Pretty sure we triggered a full on developmental leap. He’s asking us all these random questions just like an info sponge, doing some basic addition out loud (thanks Number Blocks), and the biggest shock of all, tonight at 6:40 pm he dropped his toys, announced “I’m tired. I gotta go to sleep”, then walked to his room and got in bed. This is a kid who has famously hated sleep since day 1. Who are you????

Oh, also, as I was cooking dinner he said “I pooped on the floor!” and, yep, he had pooped on the floor. I guess being perfect would have been too weird anyway.

The bad first: the nausea fairy finally came for me last night full force

The good: it pushed me over the edge and I’m down 30 lbs officially!

I guess I’ll take a victory where I can. lol
