married my best friend 🥹

Met on the street walking downtown in our city one day and I stopped to chat with him. 13 years later, we are married! (We love slow living and not rushing; also I got sick and had some health problems.) 🩷

Had a small city hall wedding since we’re both pretty introverted. ☺️

My partner is a big consumer of clothes/shoes... how do I deal with this?

My partner (32, m) and I (32, f) have been together for almost 15 years. However, we were raised very differently. I grew up in the very rural countryside and as the youngest daughter out of 3 girls, I always had hand-me-downs and clothes from them. I've learned that things don't need being replaced (my parents only got a new sofa my last year of high school, and before then we had our dad's 1970s sofa from his college days back in the day).

My partner is HUGE on buying new pants, jeans, shoes... I feel like he goes through them so much more often than I do. It is the ultimate turn-off. How can we bridge this gap?

Photo assists taking emails off call sheets: where to draw the line?

I used to assist full time, then tech'ing and now i shoot commericially and editorially in NY. Wondering what current crew think of photo assists taking emails and names off call -sheets and adding producers and photo editors on instagram. Am I reacting too harshly?

I've found the best photo assistant-- he's really capable and good with lighting and doesn't need to be explained things-- the only caveat is he is super hungry. He's assisted me twice now and each time at the end of the shoot he's expresed how much he doesn't want to assist and how he only wants to shoot. He let it slip today that it's so awkward reaching out to photo editors from call sheets because they only view him as an assistant. He backpeddled pretty quickly after he saw my expression but still followed the photo editor on instagram.

Someone either tell me if I'm crazy or not. Should I communicate to him that he's a bit too aggressive? I don't think I'll be hiring him again fwiw.

A massive warning to this community: Leaky gut is ground zero for Parkinson’s Disease aswell as other neurological diseases

Hey everyone,

I’m posting this here because if you are dealing with leaky gut, you already know how miserable the daily symptoms are. But I want to give you all a massive, urgent wake-up call about what happens when you leave a leaky gut untreated long-term.

My mom was a completely healthy person in 2017 before she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. For years, her conventional neurologists completely ignored her gut, just throwing standard medications at her brain symptoms. My mom had to become her own medical detective and fight the system to get a gut permeability test. It came back positive for severe leaky gut—and the doctors still had zero solutions for it.

But here is what the cutting-edge science (including recent studies co-funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation) has now fully proven: Parkinson's often starts in the gut, not the brain.

Here is the exact gut-brain connection you need to know:

The Pathogen Highway: When you have a compromised, leaky intestinal lining, a specific toxic, misfolded protein called alpha-synuclein begins to form in the gut due to chronic inflammation.

The Vagus Nerve: These toxic proteins don't just stay in your digestive tract. They literally travel up the vagus nerve like a highway, moving directly from the gut right into the brain, where they begin destroying dopamine-producing cells.

Systemic Fire: The constant leakage of toxins into the bloodstream keeps the immune system in a state of panic, fueling the chronic, systemic inflammation that actively accelerates neurological decline.

We talk a lot in this community about healing the gut to fix bloating, skin issues, or fatigue. But please realize that fixing your tight junctions is a literal shield for your brain.

If you are dealing with chronic gut permeability, do not let mainstream doctors brush it off as a minor issue. Take the 4 R's seriously. Get your L-Glutamine, fix your microbiome, and close those holes. You aren't just healing your digestion—you are actively protecting your neurological future.

Behold, the perfect Oura meal score 💯

For real though, if you’re just beginning your dietary/health I….guess Oura is helpful? When I inputted my protein (chicken), the value dropped significantly. 😅

Shot in the dark: Lost keys with red tag in Riverside Park on the water 100th street to 65th street

I know this is a shot in the dark but if you happen to find keys with a red tag, they are most definitely mine! If anyone finds them I'm offering a reward of good karma and a cup of iced coffee!

Was shocked at how much I like this show as a millennial. Wondering how old everyone is who is watching?

This show was NOT on my bingo card for 2026 and I have to admit, as a 32 year old, I’m completely obsessed. Someone recently pointed out to me that it’s a teen show and it’s weird that I watch it— I felt kinda bad. The actors who play the characters in the show are only a couple years younger than me but I felt mixed things after that despite all the joy this show gives me.

Anyways: wondering what everyone’s ages are who are watching this 🙂

Forgot to get my MIL flowers for Mother's Day. Help?!

I have been traveling nonstop for work and forgot to get my mother-in-law flowers for mother's day. She recently moved into a new apartment (messy split from my Father-in-Law) and we got her a card and are planning on getting her a housewarming gift but I completely dropped the balll today.

We all went out to lunch and my husband and I paid for the billl -- $150 or so. Is that enough? What do I do? My husband -- it's his mom -- is sooo nonchalant about it but I feel really bad.

TL;DR -- is paying for a nice brunch/lunch (and a card) a good enough gift for Mother's Day for my MIL?

I hope this isn't silly. Been freelancing the last 8 years but this year is by far the best financial year yet... and... i am scared to pay my taxes next year. (32, f, working in the USA as a photographer/somewhat writing...photojournalist).

What are some more unhinged things I can write off to get my taxes down for next year? Obviously, my camera gear. I'm not planning on buying anything new besides maybe a new lens? i write my photo studio space off where I shoot/have an office. I guess i could buy a new laptop for writing but I kind of don't want to and I love my old laptop.

TL;DR -- what are some things to write off for my taxes? Broader things like for offices or business side of freelancing? Thanks in adv!
