Awrah gone Awry; seeking advice as a revert.

Salaam Alaikum

I know there is no consensus on this, but particularly online there is a lot of disagreement over what constitutes specifically a woman’s Awrah. The most common (not necessarily most correct) view that I’ve heard is that we should cover everything except face and hands. I also hear that due to the times we live in it’s become Fardh to wear niqab, but I haven’t really seen scriptural or scholarly reasons for why this is the case. Some go further in covering the eyes and hands also. I guess my question is in two parts,

1: what are the scriptural and scholarly bases for each of these claims? And

2: Which is actually best to practice in the west today?

Thank you all for your time and I hope you’re having a good day.

What’s the best way to cover the eyes? Is covering the hands practical?

Salaam Alaikum. I am a revert, recently I’ve started to wear niqab. I see pictures of sisters who cover their eyes and hands also, and I think this is really elegant and beautiful. What’s the best way to achieve this? I’ve thought about sewing a thinner/more transparent fabric between the gap in the niqab, does this provide good eyesight?

I understand that this is optional and only hijab is Fardh, but I think that I would aspire to take this extra step of modesty for my own sake and most importantly for my connection to Allah.

Also, with gloves I worry that this would make it impractical to use a phone or perform fine motor tasks like opening a bottle of water. Are there gloves designed to preserve as much utility as possible? Please let me know, thank you all!

[18/F] looking for online pen pals

Hi! I’m an 18F maths student, I live in australia and am Ukranian background. I’m Muslim, love baking and love knitting. My favourite people to talk to are other students and people from other cultures and religions. Something fun about me, when I was a kid I used to track ant nuptial flights with a calendar and collect queens as they flew. I had at a peak 8 different species as colonies in my room, where I would store them in modified rectangular fish tanks.

Feel free to DM me, please include your age, gender and some fun facts about you :)

Wanting to revert but struggling with reconciling the Quran and Science

I am an undergrad maths student and I was raised very atheist, but after looking into it I think Islam is the best monotheistic religion out there and I would like to revert. However, I also strongly believe in evolution and an old universe. Is there a way to reconcile this? If not, what’s an Islamic approach to systematically disproving the two?

Also, I am a woman and some friends have told me that Islam is misogynistic, I haven’t really seen evidence of this being true and I don’t mind the ig patriarchal culture as long as it’s still out of free choice. How do you conceptualise this?

If anyone would like to DM me they’re welcome to, I’m based in australia so it’s fairly early in the day for me.
