Need help with car lease

Hi all, I need some help with what to do with my next car. For context, I’m currently in fellowship and will be earning an attending salary in about 12-13 months. I currently lease my car but that lease ends in a few months. The reason I originally leased and sold my used car was because I needed to ensure I would have a reliable car during residency without the hassle of potential breakdowns and worrying about finding a ride for work.

Long story short, I’ve posted on multiple car threads to see what people thought about some current lease deals and the overwhelming majority of responses are basically “if you’re looking at a lease it sounds like you can’t afford the car and you should be buying used”. Well the used car market is outrageous right now so a car that’s 3-5 years old with reasonable miles and features still has a higher monthly payment than the lease!

The thing these commenters don’t understand is that I can afford the lease payment currently, and will be able to afford it even more comfortably in a year with my attending salary. So my question for you all is… is leasing really that bad of an idea? I am having a hard time understanding how having a lower monthly payment now is a “waste of money” when in 3 years when the lease is done, my attending salary will most certainly be able to buy a new or used car comfortably.

I appreciate any insight or thoughts!

Thoughts of lease deal?

EX-L trim, they’ve already given a discount equal to the value of the mud guards, looking to put $0 additional money down. Anyone have thoughts of if this is a good deal or still a bit left on the bone?

Money down on a lease

Need some help from y’all, chat GPT and other online sources are very mixed, although I expect some mixed responses here too.

I’m looking at leasing a 2026 pilot in the coming months, and see online the current August lease deal has $4-5k down for a $400 something monthly for an EX-L. I’ve always been told to never put any money down on a lease because you could total it tomorrow and now you’d be out of that down payment completely.

The one caveat is that i plan to buy the pilot at the end of the 3 year lease, I’m just opting for a lease now to keep the monthly payment lower than financing. Even if I were to finance for 72 months, the lease monthly is still lower. The lease monthly is still lower than even financing a used 2024 or 2025 pilot!!! (Which is utter insanity that a used car is so expensive right now, and I like the refresh of the 2026 pilot anyways)

What is everyone’s opinion about money down on a lease when using one of these monthly deals goons advertised?? Thanks y’all

Joint bank account set up

Hi all! My wife and I are looking to set up a joint bank account and aren’t sure where and what to do. We
are both generally naive about this sort of stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions on who we should use? We both currently have HYSA with Ally, and our own checking/saving account with our childhood home’s CU.

Another super naive question we have is what type of account should we be opening with the expectation of using this account to pay bills and possibly get checks from, though we both have our own personal checks. We just aren’t sure how exactly to get money into said new account, whether we move money from our personal accounts monthly or have a portion of our direct deposits go right to it.

Any info helps! Thanks yall.

Need help picking a griddle

I will be buying my first griddle in the next few weeks and need some help picking the best one. I’d like to stay under $500 budget so that removes any consideration for the slate as I’d like at least 30-36” cooking surface for guests coming over. I’m currently between the Member’s mark pro series 5 burner 36” for $399 vs Member’s mark 4 burner 36” for $249 vs the Costco 4 burner 36” omnivore for $499 online (seen some posts about being $399 in store, haven’t looked in store yet).

I’m looking for pros and cons for any of these. They all have hinged hoods which is what I’m looking for. I also like that the Member’s mark non-pro series and the blackstone has a shelf in front. I do like the magnetic strips for the blackstone and the Member’s mark pro series though! Thanks all!

Looking at Used Lexus GX

I’ve been looking at several used Lexus GX’s online, from 2020-2024, with varying mileage from 50k-80k. I wanted to see what the general consensus was for GX’s with that high of mileage to buy used? What maintenance concerns should I be aware of and ask about for a GX with that kind of mileage? I love the exterior and interior look/feel, just get weary of used cars because you never know who’s driven the vehicle first. Thanks all!

Golf ball does matter

I recently switched from Kirkland balls to ProV1x and it has been a world of a difference. I’ve now played 3 rounds over the last few weeks and haven’t lost a ball in any of the 3 rounds, something I’ve never done in my life up to that point. The ProV1x seems to go straighter, further, and gives me a good amount of stopping power on the green, which seems to be a combo of a bit higher flight and maybe some increased spin. For reference, I’m currently a 13 HCP, so I’m not spinning any ball off the green, I’ve just noticed the ball stopping quicker than before.

This isn’t an ad to have people go spend lots of money on golf balls, which prior to this most recent switch I was an avid Kirkland ball and “found in woods” golf ball player. But this past month of rounds makes me think what have I been missing out on???

Unplayable

This shit is unplayable!! In one game of Den HP I got 3-tapped by a MPC 4 TIMES!!!!! How is that even possible?!! You can’t use the M15 on any map at all bc the MPC beats the M15 at all ranges except like 70m, and even then it’s a 50/50 toss up!!!! I’m so sick of this shit. My bullets don’t register, every killcam is someone that doesn’t miss a bullet, and I’m getting killed in 3 shots!!!!
