Okay, this genuinely doesn't make any sense to me

Chapter 120. It's the labirynt game under the police department. Baku and Amako end up starting from the same room (I guess it will be explained later), for some reason only Baku uncovers his eyes (this may be on me, maybe I just didn't understand something). BUT I just don't understand why Baku is so surprised that Amako recognized that he's not Minowa. I mean... HIS VOICE? It wasn't said anywhere that Baku can perfectly mimick someone's voice. Besides, I think Minowa said nothing or almost nothing in front of Baku so far. Soo...?

Am I genuinely so stupid that I don't understand something here, or should I just keep reading and ignore it for now? So far everything was making, more or less, enough sense to me.

This must be my favorite Manben episode I've watched so far

I don't even know about this mangaka, I don't recognize any of his titles but I absolutely love the creative process he developed! What impressed me especially is that he does everything all by himself. No assistants at all, he draws all the backgrounds too. All alone and still, the results look astounding! I also enjoy his approach to creating in general, this rock'n'roll mindset, and how he said at one point "just draw your story right now, grab whatever you have available around".

I feel so inspired, and I'm already brainstorming what I can do to implement some of his methods in the future, and create a similar hybrid process for myself.

Watch Manben whenever you want to feel inspired, it's genuinely such an awesome and informative series!

The way I rolled on the floor when I saw this

Context: Polish translation never disappoints 😂 I guess in English Marco says "Baku-kun" or smth but in Polish it is Bakuś, which is a name for a popular Polish yogurt lmao (and it's called "fluffy" too)

Maybe I should go back to sketching traditionally

After more than 4 years of drawing only digitally, I decided to face my insecurity, to try and sketch on a paper like I used to most of my life. In all honestly, I was afraid the conclusion will be that I can't draw traditionally anymore because I got so used to the "easier way" of drawing. Or to the "cheating", like some people call using digital tools. But to be fair, I think my analog sketch still turned out to look better than what I would be able to sketch digitally. It seems like it's still much easier to make a traditional drawing look more "lively". It's kinda surprising to me, but not surprising at the same time.

My idea is that maybe in the future I would switch to sketching all my manga pages on papers, and only the inking and toning would be done digitally. I'm still not fully sure about it, but after finishing this drawing I definitely consider it more seriously. My current inked oneshot pages look quite awkward to me now in comparison, and I think the issue is exactly in the fact that these pages are all sketched digitally.

Overall, I'm glad it turns out I didn't lose my ability to sketch with just a pencil and eraser, that sticking to drawing only on a tablet didn't erase my ability to draw on plain paper. I only forgot how often I have to erase things lol.

Do you even care about making yourself look "pretty", "attractive" in public?

35F. I don't really care if people think I look great or not anymore but I wonder sometimes if I should work on it. Not for the sake of catching any unwanted attention but I was just thinking recently about how people are judged by looks, no matter if we like it or not. I guess if I'd look more like I care about looking nice, I would be more respected by casual people around, or at work. Personally I couldn't care less about looks specifically and I'm also lowkey paranoid about getting hit on again. I consider myself looking below average, but even I had to deal sometimes with creepy guys in the past. I think that's a main reason why I chose to look as boring and undesirable as I feel comfortable with it.

I neglect everything: clothes, skincare, makeup, hairstyle etc. I guess you'd say I look like a very stereotypical asexual "lonely lady with cats" but tbh I feel comfortable with it, and I'm afraid I'll start to feel very insecure about my looks again if I'll start to care too much and try to change something and be consistent with it. The amount of time and effort it takes to look better also feels like too big price for the reward. How is it like with you?

Thank you for so many replies, and so many different perspectives. I wish I could be so cool and self-confident like some of you! But I also feel inspired to start slowly adding aome changes into the way I look, and also work on my mindset regarding how I interpret atrractive / interesting looks. Way too often I worry that most people think wearing nice clothes and looking unusually pretty means "giving signs" to them. I live and work in a conservative city, with many old and old-minded men around. Obnoxious joking that makes me uncomfortable is such a norm here. But I'll try my best to keep on improving myself, even if only slightly.

Inking trees process (and update)

I didn't post anything new for a while so here's a sneak peek into my drawing process, it's a double-spread and an estabilishing shot so I want the bg to be quite detailed looking.

I'm currently finishing all my pages from the oneshot, Winter Core. Everything is ready, it's only this most time-consuming part left lol. Maybe I'll have the oneshot ready at the end of October or in November.

Meanwhile I'm also writing a full version of this oneshot's story (basically, this oneshot will be canon and the full story will be a direct sequel). Writing the outline goes surprisingly well, I'm very happy with how many ideas I have and the process goes quite smoothly. I'd have smth around 700-900 pages in total, definitely not more than 1000, and I'd have 3 big volumes. I'd say that smth around 70% of the first volume I have figured out already (in terms of rough descriptions of events).

The full story will be written in my native language and in the future, I hope I'll be able to gain funds for a proper English translation but that's gonna take a while before I'll need to worry about it. The oneshot will be in English and online for frèè (thank you, Genshin_Doggly :)). I hope you'll like the story and the characters, and maybe some of you will be interested in checking out the full story as well!

Nawet jeśli masz gdzieś życie innych ludzi, to nadal ryzykujesz też własnym zdrowiem i życiem.

Trying to achieve an analog result digitally

The inking brush is Kuro Ink with extra texture (probably a bit too much, but it's just a matter of preference and playing around with the brush' settings). I add Noir filter in Snapseed (you can use any other app with filters if you don't like Snapseed), and then in my default photo editor I raise contrast to 20 and I add another "flower" filter on 40. The result looks much more like a scan of a traditionally made drawing, I think.

(It's a redraw from Trigun manga page)

Maybe we need a separated sub for Stampede and Stargaze

Just an idea I got recently. I feel like even though this sub in the rules specifically says "no version wars", it seems like such wars are unavoidable in the current state of this sub. So I thought, maybe a sister sub dedicated to the new anime would help in solving this issue?

Right now, I think I won't speak only for myself when I'll say I feel rather very hesitant to be in any way active here (as someone who appreciates all versions), even though there's so many things I would want to share or discuss about. Every content relating to Stampede or Stargaze apparently gets quite a lot of downvotes and/or passive-agressive comments, sometimes some really heated arguing happens, all of this is pretty discouraging. It seems to me like it really doesn't work too well for those who just want to appreciate whatever version they prefer and share with their positive thoughts and feelings about these versions.

So, maybe we should consider creating a second sub? Or maybe it would be too troublesome, since the fandom as a whole isn't too big anyway... Idk, I just wanted to throw this idea and see what you think - if you'd like to see such a separation, or if you're happy with how the community feels like currently.

Moje "nie" nie jest akceptowane w pracy

This is definitely NOT Geostorm, then what else can it be?

Is this AI generated, or some bootleg? I watched most of it, annoyed at how shitty it is, then abandoned it, but after watching CinemaSins video about the real Geostorm I realized these are two completely different movies. Please someone enlighten me, I'mso confused...

I will need an editor

Please read the whole text before commenting, and thanks for your interest in advance!

I'm working on my oneshot Winter Core and I'm finishing dialogues and sketches. I'll probably finish it to the end of this month. But the thing is, I'm not a native English speaker. I know that I still make quite a lot of mistakes that I'm not aware of. And I also would like to finish this oneshot and make it available for printing, or at least try since I never self-published anything on Amazon before... So I would really want to make sure the dialogues have no spelling or grammatical mistakes, and sound naturally to native speakers.

So I would want to make it clear that in the near future, I'll need an editor who is a native speaker, preferably an American because the story happens in the US. Obviously, not someone who would just use chatgpt or any other generative tools, just a person who can naturally tell where dialogues need to be changed and how.

I would want to offer a payment (PayPal), though I can't probably pay much because where I live a dollar is worth quite a lot, but I want to offer some amount (+the person's name would be included as an editor in the credits if they would want to).

Edit: I think my budget can reach up to 200$, for 64 pages. Not sure if this is a lot or not because idk yet how many words I'll have in the oneshot in total. I'd prefer the manga pages itself to be reviewed, not a script.

Again, I'm not looking for this RIGHT NOW, but I will in near future, so for now, if anyone is interested, you can reach me through dms and we may start talking about details. I'll choose only one person, after some talking and making sure the cooperation would be effective. I'd love it especially if it would be another artist, too.

Here's a sketched page with dialogues as an example. Drawings may still change quite a lot, especially some more complicated designs, but I wouldn't want to change the paneling. The whole thing would have 64 pages, some pages much more wordy than others.

I consider seriously the possibility of turning this oneshot's concept into a full story (not a manga series, a graphic novel in manga style having smth around 300-700 pages in total), so if things will go well, I may reach out for help again in next few years.

Thanks for reading again!

A test panel to figure out detailed screentoning without moiré effect

So I think I know now how to easily avoid moiré effect without worrying about screentones getting too detailed. If you'd like to know, here's how: I just in general recommend downloading Snapseed app for various effects and filters. Nothing ai generative here, as far as I found out.

All I do is that I upload a finished drawing (ie the panel here) and I choose Noir filter. First two options are on 0, the noise is around 15-20 and the last one is not more than 30. And that's all, it gets rid of any moiré, so you can just go more detailed with screentones in this way I believe. The overall effect also gets this less digital look in this way. I'll keep testing this solution for more complex drawings.

The drawing is my oc from a oneshot I worked on, I'll be back to working on it very soon.

Unpopular opinion?

The whole FMA franchise was my number 1 for the last 10+ years, I thought nothing will ever come close to it, nothing will ever "scratch the itch" in this very special way again. But after just reading first 14 or 15 chapters of Trigun I had to rethink my opinion. There's so many similarities between the two, and in terms of "themes and such" I feel like Trigun is a lot like "seinen FMA". Plus, pacifism of Edward doesn't stand a chance against pacifism of Vash.

I'm lowkey bored of all these teenagers being main characters now tbh

I found someone's interesting claims written on Youtube a month ago... BS or not?

To be clear, I don't and won't use X/Twitter. But I know that Nightow is apparently very active there, and talks a lot about everything Trigun related, at least that's what I heard. Anyone here who follows Nightow and knows if he was ever making such claims?

Unless the person talked about Stargaze director here but said "manga" for some reason? But then, no way the director would talk about 2d animation...

So... I survived Multiple Bullets.

I'm sorry, I know for most people here it's probably old news but I need to talk about Multiple Bullets 💀

What kind of a prompt do you think all the participants besides Nightow got? "Please, go as feral as possible"?

But from the very beginning.

Nightow's story, of course the best, 10/10, recommend. Loved the action, love Vash and Wolfwood, would happily read thousands of pages all about their crazy everyday shenanigans. Idk what's about the way this guy shows action, but even though realistically speaking it's obvious nothing bad should happen here, I'm always nervous when I see Vash in distress. The illusion of high stakes is always strong here, I was on the edge of my seat. A tiny nitpick only about how quickly the story concludes. But it's MUCH better than what the movie shows, imo.

And here goes the rest.

I was so excited to see Boichi's entry but WHAT THE HELL. This is so wacky... The art is technically impressive, some stand-alone shots of Vash especially in this crazy artstyle are pretty cool, backgrounds are great but that's all of good things I can say here... What's with all these boob-ass shots 😭I get it was supposed to be funny but it was way too excessive, it killed the humor. The story itself also made zero sense. Didn't like it, disappointed.

The next story is the most forgettable one, just totally new ocs discussing the dilemma of "if humans should live or be destroyed". Quite cute but didn't feel like a lot was happening here. The least feral of feral entries here, at least.

Les enfants is my favorite entry after Nightow's story, it's a cute fairytale recap of Trigun until a certain thing happens, and I like how Vash and Wolfwood were drawn together at the end. This one felt like actual serious and wholesome homage to the source material. Nostalgic.

The chapter about Milly and Meryl TV show was the funniest in a good way chapter here, and I love every panel of it. The humor is great! But it quickly went feral, no wonder Vash ran away 🤣 I liked how Wolfwood was included here lmao, and how we could see so many characters reacting to the unhinged show. Felt almost like canon events after the end of the manga, could easily imagine some of this stuff actually happening.

Then the chapter with Raijin, similar to Boichi's, it's so over the top and edgy, less horny but with some really messed up ideas. The samurai guy was for me one of the least interesting characters, and the backstory didn't really change my opinion. "So edgy it turns your brain off" kind of deal.

AAAND the first place for the wackiest entry goes to the Ericks one, this was the funniest shit I've ever read 🤣🤣🤣 I was laughing my ass off at almost every single page and panel. Absolutely glorious. I want my braincells back. I love it and I hate it.

And at the very end we can see a bunch of cool, cute and funny mini pins drawn by various creators celebrating the Badlands movie, these are fun.

Overall, the most chaotic manga anthology I've ever seen, and I could've ever imagine. Why, WHYYY Boichi 💀 This is totally not what I expected. But I'm happy I've read some of these entries. It was such a messy experience for me. Idk if I would want to buy the book, for half of it sure but couldn't care less about the Boichi and the Raijin chapter entries tbh.
