Enlarger lens as taking lens.

I have an unbranded enlarger lens. It just says OS-267 f/4.5 10in.

I want to use it as a taking lens.

Previously, I read that enlarger lenses are sometimes better suited if you mount them in reverse, in the camera. Why is this?

How do the optical properties of an enlarger lens differ from a taking lens?

[Camera] [Self-Post] Shooting with the Pentacon 3.6:420 on my DIY Camera.

I took my home-built camera out into the street to shoot footage of this bus with an ultra thin DoF.

Lens is from an old episcope: Pentacon 3.6 : 420mm. It sounds long, but this lens is actual normal angle on my camera, considering the 34x34cm ultra large format.

Quite a unique look, and I think I nailed the focus on the bus.

I wanted to share what footage is possible with an extreme camera setup.

My camera build was inspired by Zev Hoover, look him up if you want to learn more about LF filming.

Available light only, with sun rather low, roughly in my back. (Straight from camera, no edits other than flipping the image right side up.)

Let me know what you think of this look.

The Lens & The Image: Petzval 2.8/160mm Magic Lantern lens (unknown maker.)

My lens collection grew out of control. I have many rare vintage lenses, and decided to share the results in what I call "The Lens & The Image."

This edition is a Petzval lens by unknown maker, probably from a magic lantern.

I measured it to be 160mm f/2.8 aperture.

It has no diaphragm and can only be shot wide-open. Although weirdly, it seems to have some sort of waterhouse slot in front of the front element? I am not sure what that is for, but I taped it off.

At this age, the lens will not be the sharpest, but I think it is still usable for photography.

It has the swirls, and reasonable contrast as well. (I edited it by adjusting the exposure curve.)

[Self-Post] I've built my own camera (34x34cm ULF with 305mm Ilex Paragon) and did a D.o.F. test. Cinematic?

I went for the shallowest Depth-of-Field.

Mission successful? Or too much? Large Format 34x34cm digital camera with 12" Ilex Paragon mounted.

I call it "The Abracam" and this is version 2 (made out of stainless steel.)
Version 1 was larger (16x16") and made out of MDF.

Version 1 could take much larger lenses, I've used 600mm f/3.8 (full frame equivalent of 60mm f/0.38) on that, but was not mobile enough. Version 2 is a little lighter, but not as much difference as I hoped.

I estimate the Ilex 12" on the version 2 to be equivalent to full frame 45mm f/0.66.

Train service to the moon? Why yes! Hexa Trains to be included in Steam Train Fest 2026.

Hexa Trains will be part of Steam's Train Fest, on 2026 July 20.

Hexa Trains is the most relaxed train game in existence: no money counter, no build constraints, just relaxed network optimizing.

No goals, just servicing a planet/moon economy with trains!

Bolt on crank loosens 3/4th turn, coming out a little, then freezes solid again.

What can I do to fix this?

The bolt comes out a little, but then freezes solid in place, not allowing further loosening.

I am afraid that if I force it, it will strip the aluminum threads.

The crank is a cycmotor crank.

What is this white blotchy haze?

those white blotches… is that damaged coating?

What I tried: hydrogen peroxide, no improvement. And ultrasound water plus dawn, no improvement.

Should I just remove the coat altogether with isopropyl alcohol?

PS: this is front rear surface on Kipronar 140mm

WPS on EAP683 UR

I have:

TP-Link EAP683 UR | Omada WiFi 6 AX6000 Wireless 2.5G Ceiling Mount Access Point

I would like to connect a device using WPS to it.

Can this access point do WPS? I don’t see a button for it on the device.

Does high beams on take away HP?

I saw GOU #3 Mercedes drive w high beams on, unlike his competitors.

Which makes me wonder… do high beams on, make the alternator take more engine power away?

Kohler needs new feed valve but I have no access underneath tank.

I need a new feed valve.

toilet is two huge porcelain parts, bolted together.

But because the toilet is close to wall, with 2cm gap, I cannot grab the nuts that hold tank and valve.

A scary thought, but do I have to cut open my wall to tunnel for access?

I intend to get two wifi access points, and set them to the same ssid, same password, different channel, both in bridge mode.

Will my iPhone be smart enough to switch when I walk from downstairs to upstairs of my home?

Should I get wifi7 for this, or wifi6?

All the routing should be left to my separate home router, which is connected to my ISP’s fibre with 1gbps.

I want my devices to be able to roam, and get good signal on both floors, or maybe even three floors if I do the basement as well.

I've put the CYC Photon Gen2 on my Sirrus 2.0.

Top-Tip: if you have an XL frame, the battery fits on the seat-tube, so you can keep your down-tube space for a water bottle.

Other upgrades are rack, stand, suspension seat, fenders, tyres, but most importantly: replaced those awful ProMax brakes with Shimano Deore. Stops on a dime, now, every time.
