IGN Rewards 10% Off Humble Choice coupons...
i haven't used the "free" IGN monthly in a while, but noticed this coupon. not sure if it's always been there, but regardless it's completely useless to Choice subs because >*Offer valid for new subscribers only
so if this is a normal IGN reward, i propose we have a megathread for these code drops. probably useless for 90% of this sub, but it might be useful for the few that can use it...
anyways here's my code
>b552-y1fb-f***-0xp2
>*** = the 3 bottom left keys on QWERTY keyboard
i guess key scalpers would use bots, so if you drop a code, dont post without hiding a few
Inputfusion - adding "native" SDL3 to games
surprised this isn't mentioned yet but i found this mod that adds SDL3 to games. steam controller 2 supports SDL3 (multi-input library) but few games actually implement SDL3...
https://wiki.libsdl.org/SDL3/FrontPage
i usually use SISR but i got kinda annoyed having to launch it before gaming. since most games i usually use basic controller functions, i can pretty much launch games and have the steam controller fully functional.
NOTE: if you have steam open, you can set the controller to gamepad mode (hold start) to avoid double input. this mod is very technical, but once you understand it, it's simple as dragging the mod DLL and playing.
the mod:
https://github.com/xan105/InputFusion
gui config helper:
https://github.com/abaire/sdl_testcontroller
NOTE: probably a given, but i recommend you DON'T use this for multiplayer games to avoid possible bans.

to all my G502 master racers, i recommend you invest in a hotswap board
just want to recommend, to everyone who doesn't have good solder skills or wants the ease of trying different switches, investing into a hot swap board.
i purchased one for my G502 Lightspeed a while ago, and was surprised to find one for even the G502X recently so i bought it. i just received the G502X board a few hours ago, it came with HUANO 50M blue dots.
i got the G502X for ~$17USD and the G502LS for ~$8USD.
the G502X came with 5 hotswappable points, but the G502LS only had the 2 main buttons hotswappable.
i know i know, the G502X's mechanical switches are meant to last long but the G502X's switches are so loud.
the reason i swapped the switches was because i wanted to try silent switches. i got some HUANO Yellow dots.
i will say, silent switches are a whole different world in comparison, especially in a G502 shell. they remind me of those laptop productivity mice that are also silent.
anyways, i thought i would just put a recommendation out there cuz i know we all love the G502, but the switches are it's weakest point.
closing note, i will say that the G502LS and G502X disassembly are crazy. i recommend you have a proper working area. ALSO BE CAREFUL WITH THE SPRINGS...if you ask "what springs?" you better find out before you disassemble lol (i lost a spring on my G502LS ;_;)
stadium should turn into a perk archive
i love stadium, i have hit top ~100 support rank in comp for the past couple seasons, but hearing the news it will stop growing is very disheartening. even worse, with the midseason rollout there was no new hero.
now hear me out, stadium is VERY hard for player adaptation and retention. it takes 2x-6x more match time than a normal quickplay/comp match (depending on rounds) also, it literally requires a person to know EVERYTHING about their hero and then adapt with the new powers and enhancement items. i know i felt victim to having newbies on my team and it feels so much worse because they don't know what to pick or choose. i blame the limited players and wide MM...
BUT what if....
blizzard puts ALL heroes in stadium and every perk that has been added in the past and future, gets pushed to stadium? yes yes i know some perks/powers are busted af, but isn't that the point?
blizzard could also just keep generic armory items, and remove/forget about making hero specific items.
i think it will allow players to adapt to stadium better, because they have experience with the perks. they can also learn to progress builds easier b/c items are generic. weapon, ability, survivability.
what are your thoughts?
personal bit:
i was REALLY waiting/hoping for lifeweaver to join stadium... ;_;
Game won't launch/crash on start fix
started getting this bug. i looked at the debug_log.txt and it shows:
>ERROR:logging_chrome.cc(594)] Invalid logging destination: ****: The operation completed successfully. (0x0)
**** = random numbers
i tried looking into the error. seems like people are experiencing this bug a while ago without a valid fix.
i found the solution related to the browser cache. Look Outside uses RPG Maker MZ which uses NW.js so it is related to Chrome.
in the source code i found, i was able to determine the cache location by finding chrome_debug.log
https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/main/chrome/common/logging_chrome.cc#562
Solution:
Go to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\lookOutside\
and delete the User Data folder
game should start again.
hope this helps.
NOTE: the error still shows in debug_log, but this is related to how chrome is configured and not to the game. luckily, this helped me figure out the solution.
also, this will not affect your save. saves are stored in the game folder's "save" folder
Fullscreen mod and controller fix
hey guys, noticed the game has a few annoyances. the game never starts in fullscreen and on steam deck, the controller never gets recognized correctly.
i have found solutions and thought i would post them.
NOTE: i haven't fully tested, but has been working for me so far.
precursor: Look Outside is made in RPG Maker MZ. which is based on NW.js. we can implement a plugin to allow the game to always start in fullscreen.
Look Outside is also built using the windows version of NW.js. Steam Input has a problem of properly hooking into the windows version of NW.js. by using the linux version, the controller is recognized properly.
>fullscreen fix
requirements:
the plugin (N_StartFullscreen.js) https://github.com/Nolonar/RM_Plugins-StartFullscreen
place the plugin file in "Look Outside\js\Plugins"
open "Look Outside\js\plugins.js"
and add this code to load it.
{
"name": "N_StartFullscreen",
"status": true,
"description": "Launches game in fullscreen",
"parameters": {}
},
example: (placed before PluginCommonBase)
},
{
"name": "N_StartFullscreen",
"status": true,
"description": "Launches game in fullscreen",
"parameters": {}
},
{
"name": "PluginCommonBase",
save the file and launch the game. gg
>controller fix:
we use the latest NW.js, the benefit of using the latest, is possible performance/stability improvements.
explained here: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/threads/how-to-update-nw-js-to-dramatically-improve-game-performance.131620/
to get the latest version, go here
https://github.com/nwjs/nw.js#downloads
download the Linux 64bit version
extract the files to your Look Outside game folder
give "nw" and "chrome_crashpad_handler" executable privileges
nw is NW.js
NW.js is built with chrome so requires chrome_crashpad_handler
now add nw as a non-steam game or add the full executable path to Look Outside's launch options
hope his helps
PTM7950 on RTX 4070TI Super
since it's summer and hot, i decided to apply PTM7950 to my year old system. i decided to repaste because the delta b/w temps and hot spot was ~20C.
I will note, that testing conditions aren't the best. ambient temp has been 25-33C and I turned off NVIDIA's performance mode after day 1, i figured this would make the card cycle temps better.
i turned off the computer as much as possible. in 4 days, probably 6 full on/off cycles with multiple hours to cooldown. ran 2 tests after startup, one to heat up and one to record results.
PTM is 100% legit, from MODDIY
tested using furmark 1440P Vulkan benchmark on 300Mhz Monitor. all temps are MAXIMUM recorded by HWiNFO
GALAX 4070TI Super
UV/OC : 2700MHz@925mV
Thermal Limit: 84C
Stock Paste >GPU: 72C
>Hot Spot: 92C
stock paste was actually good. no spots, hardened, but barely any mess. i assume pre-molded thermal paste was used. i didn't change thermal pads.
PTM
Day0 (directly after)
>GPU: 67C
>HS: 82C
Day1
>CPU: 66C
>HS: 80C
Day2
>CPU: 65C
>HS: 80C
Day3
>CPU: 66C
>HS: 80C
Furmark:
>Furmark Charts Baseline: ~12800
>Stock: ~12400
>PTM: ~13600 (13700 best)
overall, results are pretty good, probably because stock paste was still ok but eventually needed changing later.
im happy, normal temps dropped 5C, hot spot dropped 10C and temp/HS delta dropped 5C.

store.steampowered.comRepair SteamOS
hey guys, just thought i would note some things when using the "Repair SteamOS" option
i tried to search, but there is almost NOTHING on using this option.
>Repair SteamOS - This will reinstall SteamOS on the Steam Deck or other device, while attempting to preserve your games and personal content.
THIS IS A FUCKING LIE... >while attempting to preserve your games
it will destroy your steamapps folder on the internal SSD.
so i will advise, move >/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps
before repairing, then move it back after...you might have to reconfigure any launch options too. also, you will have to re-add/configure any non-steam games.
other notes,
Steam settings and almost anything steam related will be reset
deck password will be reset, go into desktop mode and open terminal. use passwd command to change it. you don't have to do the recovery method.
basically any systemctl commands will be removed so...
if you use decky, it will remove decky, BUT not your plugins. so you can reinstall decky and all plugins + settings will be intact
if you auto-enable SSH, you will have to renable it
microsd won't be touched, but if you are paranoid. it's best to remove it
almost anything non-steam is practically untouched. desktop mode remains the same. Discover app are still installed, etc...
ill note anything else as i reconfigure everything...
if you are using Y2JB, i recommend you install all 3 regions.
as we all know, jailbreak development is going crazy right now.
if you already got everything working, it's very tempting to want to "update" and see all the new features...
i've seen many people fucking up their jailbreak trying to update Y2JB and even more, many people don't even know the difference between Y2JB and Y2JB-autoloader...
so guess what, you can actually install 3 versions of youtube. keep one as the working and the two others you can use as "testers"
i know we can't link packages, but i found them pretty easy.
for reference: >PPSA01650 - US version (the recommended version)
>UP4381-PPSA01650_00-YOUTUBESIEA00000
>PPSA01651 - EU version
>EP4381-PPSA01651_00-YOUTUBESIEE00000
>PPSA01652 - JP Version
>JA0004-PPSA01652_00-YOUTUBESIEJA0000
if you already have a working JB. install the other 2 versions, go to
>/user/download/
and create folders with the same ID as the pkgs, you should have
>PPSA01650
>PPSA01651
>PPSA01652
once you have all 3 installed, i also recommend you do the update blocker
https://github.com/Gezine/Y2JB#blocking-youtube-updates-appinfo_editorpy
it will block all 3 version from updates and never get softlocked.
BE VERY CAREFUL cuz this step can fuck up your system if you do it wrong.
>⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING: Database corruption can result in the deletion of ALL installed FPKGs and savedata stored on your internal storage. Before proceeding with this section, backup your savedata using the PS5's built-in backup and restore feature in Settings to prevent data loss.
now that you got everything setup, whenever you want to try a new Y2JB, just put the new download0.dat into one of the other youtube folders and test it out without fucking up your working Y2JB...
