Gaining customers from 0

All set up, qualified, ltd co. Uniform, admin, napit, testers, simple website, non gmail email address etc. just no van yet.

My customers love my work, reveiws 5* on google etc.

But I can't make the jump fully yet as I just have 'no work'. Have I gone about it wrong?

Lads who made thr jump from cards in to successfully self employed, how long was the ramp up?

I want to do domestic and small commercial. I ha e customer service experience and I like dealing with people. The on site paperwork for industrial does my fucking head in.

PAT Testing

Been asked if I do it, basically. I've not done it before, as I've been concentrating on the "classic electrical" work.

Do you sub it out, or do you just charge more to know it's been done right. I'd rather every aspect of my business and brand image is one of excellence rather than the cheapest about.

Or do I let my customer know I don't do it, despite it being electrical safety.

Or combine the site visit with em lighting surveys etc.?

Tanked cellar living room moist

Stripping it all out and retanking is simply not on the cards. How effective is ventilation going to be to keep moisture levels lower?

Currently running a dehumidifier full time. Empty a 3 litre tank daily.

Has anyone achieved cross pavement charging for a terraced house?

If so, how was it? Ideally a channel install. We have no front garden, literally our house, a paving slab and then the council owned tarmac pavement.

I am an electrician, the EVSE is the easy bit, it's dealing with the council (Kirklees) that I'm dreading.

The price of the Kia PV5 for work is...attractive.

If they announced a tour tomorrow, would you go to the first show?

Lets say its not local, but a city you can reasonably get to. The date is free for you. There is a second date later in the tour you can physically get to similarly easily, but you'd ha e to move around other plans.

Do you go? First show after this long, surely they must be rusty. Or maybe theyll be back in a big way and tou get to be there!? Or do you have minor inconvenience and go to a later gig?

You can only afford 1 show.

Product standards should mean I can replace a dead emergency light battery without tools

And fuck Hacel in particular.

They should be plugable from a choice of 2 or 3 standard connectors and always replaceable without tools. These fuckers are always at height, make them safer to change!

Just slobbing at home, what do you wear?

Do you still wear nice things at home, or do you get dressed up when you leave? Do you wear something reasonable all the time so leaving is easy?

Personally, I tend to wear quality, well fitting jeans, T's and linen shirts at home and then that works out of the house too.

How much do the typical buyers affect brand reputation?

So Volvo are safe. We all know this, and obviously they have great safety features and are world leading on it. But, how much can also be attributed to the fact that boy racers typically just don't buy an XC90?

Lexus are reliable. Obviously, the japanese make a quality product, but they're hardly an aspirational purchase by someone that can't strictly afford to run it, unlike a Range Rover.

Better trouser knees?

I wear snickers at the moment, but the knees are just rubbish, th8s pair have started to blow out after 6 months. Thankfully I'm near the factory outlet, so they aren't near full retail.

But are there any better options these days?

HDConnect/Grapevine magazines

Does anybody utilise these magazines before a google advert? I'm a newly self employed tradesperson and wanting to know if it's a sensible spend or if a google advert is the better spend.

I know this'll come across as either an advert or a survey, so I apologise in advance. Just a local lad trying to work out his local business for local people.

Some men simply don't have the absolute drip to master crocs

In the most appropriate location possible. Off to the pool deck for a cocktail and watch the sun set over santorini in a hot tub. Loafers'll just get wet.
