First saw this game a few years ago after discovering zomboid and just kinda passed it off as something I could never get into, like dwarf fortress, saw it and moped out.

Continued merrily with Zomboid, got bored and decided you know what I’ll wait for b42

and then b42 dropped

The amount of pure disappointment i had with this update can’t properly be explained here, but fuck was it disappointing, just an entirely cosmetic update with Buggy animals, it sucked.

So I started chasing that high and ended back up at CDDA and saw many anecdotes about how fun it is and how engaging and deep it is and I just had to force the try this time.

And boy am I happy I have, have spent the last few weeks trying to learn the Prison start and smashing that last prisoner guard zombie was probably one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in a sandbox survival game, and the best part is that while that is basically the end of the knowledge curve of zomboid (knowing how to clear big groups) I know I just barely scratched the surface of CDDA, improvising a weapon out of my environment is so fucking rewarding, I also love how you can just say “ima try this” and the interaction exists, or there is a tree of crafts that leads to what you want to make, it’s so weirdly intuitive for how obtuse the game looks, but it’s so fucking rewarding.

Everything that bored me about zomboid once I figured it out this game has an answer to.

Tl:dr: thank you for glazing tf out of this game i wouldn’t have forced myself through the admittedly ugly visuals and difficult learning curve if it hadn’t been for it.

I really want to get into this game but the graphics, turn based mechanics, and insane binds, are a bit of a barrier for me, I want the motivation to get through it but my biggest fear is doing so and being disappointed with the outcome.

I’ve kinda come in search of a stronger drug after essentially beating zomboid and growing bored of it.

Tell me some awesome shit that you can do once you know how to play, an interesting story or anecdote that only this game could provide.

The concept of this game sounds insane to me being able to injure your inner foot, or improvise weapons out of just about anything in your environment, manage a faction, and super in depth cities and towns WITH Lore, it sounds crazy to me, but it’s obfuscated by its insane learning curve, and rather jarring visuals (which I know I can look past once I’m immersed) I have no issue with difficulty, I love difficult games, it’s rather the motivation to get through it that I’m struggling with, it’s all very difficult for me right now it’s like information overload when I load up the game.

The word Janitor has never been offensive to me, I’ve been a janitor and never have found this word offensive, it is a name for an occupation.

I think the avoidance and switch up is like a Freudian slip, “oh that word is offensive they’re called Custodians now”

Offensive how?? It’s only offensive if YOU ever considered it an insult. It’s insanely condescending imo.

And if I’m not mistaken even Custodian is being phased out into Service Worker.

All this does is shift the guilt for the people above everyone, for the business owners who undervalue their Janitors, they feel guilty that this vital, underpaid, overlooked, and often deemed for lesser people position so they rename it to make it seem more of a respectable position, when no one with a normal position in life ever considered it offensive to begin with. It’s a complete admission of guilt from above

“We know you guys are not only disrespected, and underpaid, we feel bad about it so we’re going to make your title sound more respectable, janitor sounds icky so now you’re a Custodian”

Just wanna preface by saying I love the distorted sound, AGC did it, imo, the best anyone has ever done in rage, but with this album am I trippin or do a lot of the songs kinda just blend together?? I feel like I can hear some absolutely crazy melodies but they’re getting completely sloshed by the insane distortion on it, and again I love the sound but 22 songs back to back of very similarly distorted beats just kinda feels like it’s way too much. None of the songs are bad individually either it’s just that it feels like there isn’t much contrast. That 2hollis beat is probably my favorite of the album too. Idk maybe it just needs to sit a lil longer.

Also side note Carti is like my #1 artist but bro completely sold on these feats honestly :/ they’re just not hitting.

And that’s okay, that’s not what they’re trying to be anymore, Casios were at one point the feature king, but with smart watches and phones they’re objectively obsolete, and thats completely fine. You don’t have to shit on smart watches to love a Casio, I own 8 Casios and regularly wear em. I so often see people commenting under a post of a smart watch (even the gshock smart watches) with people saying “yea my f91w is better” and it’s just not bro, it’s the modern analog watch, it does some very basic things and it looks really cool doing it, that’s it.

You don’t see this same dilemma with analog watches, you don’t see people constantly comparing their analog watches to an Apple Watch and exclaiming how much better they are because that’s just not their purpose anymore, analog watches are objectively obsolete and more of a fashion statement, and no one fights to make it seem otherwise.

Digital has entered the same state, it’s a piece of jewelry that happens to tell time and have a stopwatch and timer, in the same fashion that an analog is a piece of jewelry that happens to tell the time and maybe tell you the current moon phase or something quirky.
