The series didn't portray Natsume's hurt or even slight jealously towards Toma getting everything, because he once sent Toma for a workshop he'd been selected for. I mean, the show sees Natsume as a goody two shoes who was fine with everything Toma did and how everything was resolved after one damn argument. The tension would have made the series more interesting.
