Is this a legitimate concern people have??

I thrift a lot of vintage Christmas/Halloween decorations because I want to decorate the way I remember and loved growing up. Plus, I’d rather buy secondhand/things I know I’ll carry with me than feed the landfill. Am I supposed to be worried about “entities” attaching to these objects? I never really worried about that before, and as ridiculous as it sounds, now I am? It doesn’t help that with my OCD, I’ve really been trying to get over my irrational fears of thrifting and it’s worked over the past several years. I love everything I’ve thrifted so far and feel no desire to impulse buy things like those. But really, does anyone worry about this? (These comments were under a post about shopping the cheap holiday items at target that will go untouched after a season/even just a few days or weeks. The person in the video said thrifting is way better and there’s cuter things you can find too, and this is what these people commented)

How do people with eye contacts deal with the dust?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’ve been scouring this sub to prepare for the festival since it’s my first one and noticed lots of discourse about immense dust. I’m planning on bringing a bandana/some sort of mask to cover my face from it, but I was wondering what people with contacts do in this case? I assume lots of dust gets in your eyes as well? I’m planning on bringing a few extra obviously as well as contact solution, but has anyone with contacts experienced any immense eye irritation/dryness? I just want to know how to be prepared because I’m getting irrationally nervous about my eyes. I have very poor eyesight and can’t go without them.

How worth it is the CS8?

Hi all! Just got my Camp Snap 2 and am loving it so far. I’ve been looking into the CS8 camcorder to get in time for a music festival im going into in September. I really want to use it to document the trip with my friends and obviously use it for other events in the future. I just want to know a couple thing:

How is the sound quality? Obviously I’m not expecting anything super spectacular but I am just concerned about our voices actually being captured and not being cut out or anything.

Is the transfer the same as you would transfer photos from a Camp Snap camera? I just plug in the USB C cord into the camera and the other end into my phone and download everything from the files.

Overall, would you say it’s worth the $200? I’m not looking for anything of exceptionally grand quality, but I do want to make sure it’s decent enough to present my little vlogs/home videos to my friends and family. I really enjoy the novelty and screen free experience of the Camp Snap in general and really wanted the same for video capture. I just don’t want to spend $200 and not be able to return it if need be without doing proper research first.

Is this a legitimate email from Ticketmaster requiring SSN and other personal info?

Unfortunately I had to sell tickets for a concert I was supposed to go to tonight because something came up and going to the show would have been extremely difficult for us. Paid $225 with taxes and fees EACH for two tickets and only got a fraction of that through Ticketmaster selling (they took out a $30 seller fee on top of that). A few hours ago, I received an email from 1099k @ ticketmaster asking me to fill out a 1099 before I can get paid. It was quite a surprise and honestly I do not feel comfortable giving Ticketmaster the kind of sensitive information that includes an SSN. Maybe I’m ridiculous in thinking that but I don’t want to click on any links from the email without knowing its legit regardless. Nothing in my own Ticketmaster account even states I have to fill out this form. I didn’t even make half my money back and they’re already hounding me to take out more. Is this really something that’s required to do? I know Etsy doesn’t require you to fill out a 1099 unless you make over a certain amount (which is WAY more than $170) but did something change that I missed?

Worth it to get both?

Hi everyone! I’ve loved the Taiko games growing up as I had Drum Master for PS2 when I was little and finally found the switch version! I bought the Drum n Fun pack off Amazon that comes with the game and the drum, but now I’m seeing that there’s the newer Rhythm Festival game out. Would it be worth it to eventually get both? I’m considering maybe buying that one on Steam instead since I heard it’s also available on there, but I’m not sure yet. What do you think?

Where is my period?

Hello everyone, so to start I am 7 days late on my period. I’m stressed, frustrated, just generally unhappy. My boyfriend and I are always sticklers with using protection and being as mindful as possible. One instance, however, we didn’t have one to use, and being so in the moment we didn’t use protection for barely even ten seconds before we stopped. He was barely close to finishing. We took a test about two days ago in the morning and it turned out negative. By that time, penetration would have been about a month ago.

So what’s the deal? My period is so late it’s making me freak out. At this point, is there a big chance of a false negative? Everywhere I researched said otherwise. I’m not sure if me being more active since the summer started could have an effect. I work in a school in a desk job where I practically sit most of the day, come home and sit some more in my computer to wind down. Since the summer started, I’ve been walking and biking miles, swimming for hours, I’ve taken vitamins and have eaten a little better and more consistently. I feel like I’ve kind of shocked my body into all this activity or something. Could that be why it’s so late, or is pregnancy a more likely cause?

Likely an overreaction, but in desperate need of reassurance

Hello all— I feel bad adding my wordy nonsense to this very active sub, but I think I need some reassurance.

My boyfriend and I (in our mid 20s) have been together for quite some time now. We’re in it for the long haul. We’re very strict on our contraceptive methods (condom AND pullout) but also don’t have much free alone time to do it often, so generally we’re lucky if we can have intercourse more than 2-3 times a month. With that being said, during this one instance, we realized we had no protection available and were so caught up that for a few seconds, it was in there without protection. He was nowhere close to finishing, also hadn’t previously finished anytime before that where there’d be “leftovers” in the precum from what we rationalized, but I tend to harp over every small instance that has even a minuscule possibility of going wrong. Honestly, it’s exhausting, and it destroys my quality of life. I have been doing better with rationalizing, but with this situation, I can think of every possible scenario that could go wrong in the off chance that pregnancy is a real concern.

For reference, according to one app I use, I’m 4 days late. The other claims I’m 2 days late. Now I know these period apps aren’t the most reliable, but I mostly like to use them to see how long my cycles actually are and keep better track of when they should be starting. I haven’t had a 34 day cycle or over since last summer. That used to be a normal cycle for me but for some reason, I’ve been 28-31 days average this past year.

Recently, I began working an office job where I sit at a desk most days and only work during the school year, and since summer began I’ve been participating in LOTS of physical activity (walking, biking, swimming, etc). Maybe this is a reason why my period is delayed, but I’ve also barely felt any PMS symptoms that I usually feel beforehand (extreme fatigue, sore breasts, gas pains, slight headache) I will say the symptoms vary from period to period. However, the lack of PMS symptoms is nothing new, and right now I’m experiencing the typical “dry days” that usually happen before your period starts.

I’m nervous because I get too in my head. I do too much research, too much thinking. And I admit we did something stupid, something we usually never Ever do and don’t plan on doing again until we’re ready. It was a stupid spur of the moment thing, and now I’m putting myself through all this mental agony. He suggests we take a test just to clear my mind, but I think it may be too early and I’m afraid of the outcome. But I do feel like my period is coming— I can feel slight symptoms I usually have, but unsure if my brain is conjuring it up on its own and tricking me into believing its on its way. This kind of situation has happened before without this kind of scare, and I’m trying to use that as comfort but can’t. So this is my last resort to find reassurance before possibly going to the next step.

Reading a book where the chapter titles are song lyrics and came across something familiar!

I figured out several chapters back that these chapters are named after song lyrics once I saw references to Fall Out Boy, Queen, NSYNC etc. I was very pleasantly surprised to see lyrics from Goner! Book is Again, but Better by Christine Riccio.

Main sub removed this immediately. I thought it would have made good discussion. Oh well

This just passed over my house, what exactly is it?

Heard this plane flying overhead from inside my house. It wasn’t overly loud, but sounded low flying. I’m near an airport (not this one) so we always hear air traffic. It was gone before I could run outside and see it. Would have been super interesting to see in person, but does anyone know what exactly this is? Obviously it’s from the Royal Air Force but what’s it doing in New York? Next pic is what it looked like on the map

Hi, 25F here looking for a good therapist in Nassau County (preferably close in proximity to the Garden City area) that takes Empire Plan and can do either in person or virtual (like zoom or something similar, no phone calls). I had a pretty bad experience with my last one (also my first ever therapist, and it was nerve wracking even getting started and ended up being $275 out of pocket— way more than what was listed on their site and what I was expecting to pay) and I think it would be beneficial to try again. Please give me your recommendations, preferably female.
