NY -> Venice -> Ventura ?!

From the NE. Moved from Brooklyn to Venice a few years ago, and while I love California, I am looking for something different. Would Ventura be right for me? I've always enjoyed visiting Ventura, Ojai, etc. I LOVE Ojai but feel it may be too small for me.

Just looking for a place that feels safe (safer than Venice...) and welcoming. I'm a mid 30s female and I love surfing (esp Mondos), tennis, hiking, dog parks, cooking/farmers markets. Looking to date/find community of people who are friendly, grounded, and not super dogmatic politically.

Any thoughts appreciated x

Mid 30s women - what's it like here?

Thinking about moving to SB (or Ventura) and wondering what it's like in terms of making friends + dating as a mid 30s woman. Love tennis, yoga, dogs (I have two!), surfing, all things health and wellness, etc.

How do you handle the anxiety from traveling w/out them?

I have two dogs who I love enormously. I work from home, and love spending my days with them. I sometimes travel (vacation, work, etc.) and will leave them with family or a trusted sitter. But I still worry so much that something might happen to them. How do you all cope with this?

San Diego or Santa Barbara?

I am feeling stuck. I know these are both beautiful places to call home, but I can't seem to decide which one is best for me.

- i prefer small town feeling, and don't really love big cities (have lived in NYC, LA, Austin)
- love knowing my neighbors, local shops and business owners, etc.
- feeling safe is very important (like when walking my dogs at night)
- i love driving but don't love highway driving
- really love the idea of a place where parking isn't always a huge pain in the ass
- prefer cute, quaint neighborhoods over suburban sprawl/new development
- only need 1 or 2 favorite surf spots
- i'm mid 30s single female, looking for a partner! open to dating someone who lives within an hour or so (i.e. Ojai/Ventura)
- love nature, being outside, being barefoot
- looking to find community of like-minded people (who love nature, health, organic living, dogs, surfing, tennis, etc)
- budget: $3.5K/month (open to apartment or house rental)

please help me decide where to live (i work remotely)...

Mid 30s single female. Lived in NYC for 10+ years (too urban), then LA, then Austin. Considering: Santa Barbara, San Diego, Austin (again), Boulder, Santa Fe.

Priorities:
- mild winters
- great farmers markets
- dog friendly culture/dog parks
- access to water (ocean, springs, rivers, lakes)
- safe!
- tennis community
- single people in their 30s/40s
- politically diverse
- kind, authentic people
- not too much suburban sprawl

THANK YOU for any advice :)

Eggs!?

Experienced 6+ months of feeling like I was choking every time I ate. Avoided certain foods, ate lots of soups, etc. Removed eggs last year and it went away. Anyone else?!

Help me feel less alone re facial changes?

Pre-covid, was super healthy (apart from a few deficiencies from having been vegan: ferritin, B12, omega 3). Felt/looked vibrant.
No vax. Mild covid. A few months later, didn't recognize myself in mirror. Over time, I realized: Face shape changed, hair changed (thinner, straighter, grayer), collagen in face gone, body shape changed, looking less "feminine." Eyes not bright. Also was living in mold (high mycotoxins). Anyone else related? I feel SO weird when seeing old friends and family because I look like a different person..
