i am very curious how come people say muharram is 2 months and 8 or so days? where did these numbers come from? why is 40 days later so significant (arbaeen, chehlum) i have never learned the root of this practice, actually some research showed the 40 day thing is pre-islamic and not in our faith, is that true?

hi all! i was getting UTIs damn near every other month despite mine & my partners' hygiene and hydration being on point, so i wanted to share the method that has freed me from them for a year ish. i do this every time its been working so maybe this can help someone else.

before sex i stay hydrated (tall glass of water an hour before is what ive been recommended) and i dont pee before sex like at all. sometimes that means we'll start hunching and i have to pee so i will opt for a quickie cus i am NOT risking not peeing enough after. immediately after, i take a big celebratory piss and chug a tall glass of no sugar 100% cranberry juice with 3-4 pills of d-mannose, making sure to relax & get all the pee out. i dont drink more liquids after chugging tht w/ the d-mannose bc it has to work its magic or whateva. i use AZO capsules but i dont think it matters too much.

saw a urologist and she found theres a lil pee leftover after i fully discard + gave me 50mg nitrofurantoin to use WITHIN AN HOUR post sex. strictly forbade peeing before sex. i hardly use the nitrofurantoin, but if ive been less hydrated or didnt have a great piss then i will take the 50mg right after sex. i use it no more than once a week. she and my PCP reassured me that wont make me antibiotic resistant i was rly nervous ab tht

I keep no sugar added pure cran juice on deck always (the bargain stores have it for reasonable prices so i just stock like 2-3 in the house) and add it into my drinks 1-2 a week IF THAT. idk if these 1-2 servings thru out the week actually does anything but it soothes my anxiety lol. I know its not super sexy or comfortable for your partner to wash up before sex esp if yall arent locked in yet but i think it helps the general vicinity that my partner washes it with just water using the handheld bidet. he is larger down thurr & ive heard that can cause more issues, and so we use water based unscented lube if needed to stay super wet down there cus big meat will def beat up your insides without staying consistently wet!
