I got a mainframe production support role at a reputed MNC.

My manager asked me to learn COBOL first..the tech stack will most likely be COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM.

Is this basic or if I can master all of the mentioned stuff I can shine in this field? I'm thinking of a career in mainframe, want to switch to mainframe dev, can you tell me what shld I learn to become a mainframe dev? What roles are popular in mainframe space??

I'm a 2026 grad working in a startup-ish company, neither a startup nor a well established firm. The culture sucks here. The pay is more than tcs digital salary, but the role is truly shitty. I'm doing support tasks😭. I thought this job will give me exposure, but all I get to do is basic stuff and automation sometimes. I wanna join tcs mostly because of job stability. I come from a middle class family and I need steady income for atleast 2-4 yrs. That's the main reason tbh!

Can somebody guide or help me through this? I just wanna know when the next proper nqt will happen so I can prep accordingly...

Also, if any of you guys recently switched to tcs kindly dm or just comment I will dm..I need to know how the transition will happen.

Ppl who passed the exam, within how many days you got your certificate?

Will it be sent via mail? I can view my credentials in the cert metrics platform, but didn't receive the certificate yet..it's been a day already.

I know they say it takes 7-10 days, but is it true?

Last yr my colleague took the exam, and he got the cert the very next day!

If yes, please share your experience. Was it easy? Straightforward answers? Any topics to concentrate on at the last minute?

I'm writing the exam at a test center, and iam feeling so anxious abt the exam itself (of course, the proctor pressure got vanished) but still panicking everyday after taking practice tests and getting 60-80%.

Ppl out there who have cleared/failed the exam, your experience would be of great help please.

hey guys, iam planning to write the gcp exam very soon. my door doesnt lock and iam planning to sit facing the door (the door will be invisible to the proctor). is it even allowed? we have only one usuable restroom (the other one is getting renovated) in our house, so if my grandma wants to use it, she will silently get inside the room and use it. iam worried sick abt this arrangement. will i get flagged for not showing the door in my camera view?

also, anybody wrote the exam after june 30? the exam guide has been changed. i have been giving some practise test on udemy (iam not using the typical websites that a lot of reddit posts has or promotes cause I can't afford). i mostly get 60+/100. every time i take a practise exam, i still learn new concepts which i never know existed before which scares the shit out of me. i have 0 experience in cloud, used skills boost, practised some stuff, used video transcripts from google skills to learn the concepts.

I have 0 knowledge in mainframe..should I switch company (I majored in AI and DS)?

I freaked out when theY mapped me to a mainframe role..but I'm okay with it rn (no harm in exploring right!)

Also, mainframe is becoming a niche..so focusing on this might open doors for better opportunities ig, not sure (iam hella new to this field, this is just my assumption)

Hi guys, I will be having 2 yrs of experience by October in production support. Have dealt with python scripting in automation, monitoring tools, etc. I'm getting around 9lpa. I have good DSA skills, and have done a couple of side projects around Agent AI and Data Engineering stuff. What kind of roles I can apply in accenture, is it possible to land in these kinds of roles if I have no previous work experience other than side projects. I'm pretty skilled at this, but had to take production support earlier because of campus placements. Iam expecting atleast 12 lpa

Hi guys, I'm working in MNC (WITCH). I'm looking for a coding/dsa partner who is willing to complete the sheet in 2 months. I've actually solved most of the problems, but in java🥲. I'm transitioning to python now because of AI. So I'm planning to start the entire sheet again in python.

I really don't care who you are unless you are committed to coding (python please).

Timezone: ist (but I don't care abt this, as long as you are committed and know what striver sheet is, I'm fine with it)

Ps: I spend at least 2-3 hrs in coding

If anyone here has received a response (especially if your location is IITM or your DOJ is June 1), please reply to this thread. It would really help others who applied, so we don't keep checking notifications hoping for an update from the NPTEL team.
