When do you think Zoro’s character fell off? (Zoro complete character analysis.)

No agendas or power scaling.

Let’s go through this arc by arc.

During the Romance Dawn arc all the way to Syrup Village, I would say Zoro’s character is a 7/10, not super great, but not bad, we get to see him being introduced as this badass bounty hunter, Luffy forces him to join his crew by giving him an ultimatum, he pledged his loyalty and defeated Morgan, defeated Buggy’s first mate while severely injured, helps Ussop by fighting Kuro’s crew and by carrying Usopp to land the finishing blow on Jango, everything he had during those arcs was “alright”, a solid 7/10.

Before the Baratie arc started, we got Zoroms quick flashback, and it basically gave us an idea on why he’s so determined to be the WSS, and the origins of his sword. Anyways during the Baratie arc, Zoro’s character significantly developed, we see him meet the man that he always wanted to challenge, and although he lost, we saw how resolved he was, to the point where Mihawk asked for his name, we got a climatic finish, and Zoro’s vow to never lose again, everything Zoro got here was a 10/10, no complaints. We also got to see a small parallel between him and Sanji, Zoro is the type that would die for his dream, while Sanji got frustrated and said “it’s easy isn’t it? To give up your dream” so yeah, pretty good I’d say.

During Arlong Park’s arc, he was the first to arrive and the first to be captured, he does something reckless but kinda stupid too by jumping in the water all tied up, just to test Nami’s loyalty, after she saved him, he goes on and kills everyone that was on Arlong Park except for Hachi, he meets up with Luffy in a funny way, they catch up and we get to see Zoro and Sanji’s rivalry first spark up, and then he gets a cool finisher against Hachi, and a cool moment where even Arlong himself was shocked by how he’s still alive (the injury Mihawk gave him), that was a cool moment to demonstrate just how much Zoro was enduring all this time, all and all, a solid 8.5/10, pretty good arc for him.

Loguetown was also a good arc for him, it was a short arc but a nice one for him. We got introduced to cursed swords, we got introduced to a character that resembles Kuina a lot, and a lot of theories were speculating that it’s her (I wish it was her, but she’s a wasted character, just like Smoker), anyways not a lot happened with Zoro here, and they make it to the Grand Line and they all had that moment where they pledged their dreams together, I liked that, solid 7/10, not much happened but everything in this arc seemed to be a build up for what’s next. (At least in regards of Zoro, it’s the introduction of cursed swords and Tashigi’s character) and his little skirmish with Tashigi was nice, because it shows the flaw in Zoro’s belief, he thinks everyone is equal yet he held back on Kuina, will that change in the future? Who knows.

I’ll just group this section and call it the Alabsta Saga, it gets a bit complicated here, because during the first arc Zoro already has a positive and a negative. The positive was that he wasn’t caught off guard by those disguised pirates and was there to defend his crew when everyone else (except for Nami was out) the negative was that his fight with Luffy felt forced and it was out of character for them (mostly Luffy, but I believe Oda was pressured to write Luffy vs Zoro, which is why it sucked). And then Zoro does jack shit during little garden, he gets captured by Mr 3’s ability and the rest had to save them, even Sanji was side lined here, but at least he was doing something, so he gets huge negative points here, and even during Drum island, he hardly does anything there, he was yet again side lined, that’s up until Alabsta where he played a huge role in leading the crew for a bit when Luffy was gone, defeated Mr 1 and gave us one of his best fights and moments, even the whole concept of how he was able to slash a leaf but it wasn’t cut, but then he cuts a boulder in half, all of that was cool, and he even played a role in finding where the bomb was and helped with assisting Vivi and co. Not to mention Zoro genuinely had some funny moments here and there, I’ll give him a 8/10 here, he started the sage nice, had low moments during the mid section, and then it went all the way up again. Still, Zoro’s character is great so far.

During the Sky Island saga, we get the original trio to be together again which felt refreshing, and we get to see Zoro’s loyalty yet again at the bar, by listening to Luffy’s order to not fight. (Which I find dumb, but that’s a Luffy critique, not a Zoro one). Anyways he follows Luffy’s orders, has some funny moments during Skypiea, has two good fights and moments here and there, and even though he lost to Enel, I still liked that for his character, that he doesn’t always win, that he can lose, and it came full circle how he was trying to act all cool by saying he won’t bow to a God or how he doesn’t believe in one, just to he humbled by Enel, so far I’d give him an 8, but I’ll drop it to a 7 because of the Robin scene. Enel struck Robin and Zoro got mad about it, talking about “she’s a woman” like what is that supposed to imply? That she’s lesser? Isn’t your backstory about how men and women can chase the same dream? I don’t know, I didn’t like that moment for him, if he was mad simply because Enel hurt his cremate, then that’s fine, but the “she’s a woman” line genuinely was iffy for me. Enel shows better equality here than him. 7/10 for Zoro this arc.

Long Ring Long Land arc, nothing significant happened here to his character next. (I’m one of the few that actually enjoyed this arc lol).

Water 7/Ennies Lobby is a solid 9/10 for Zoro. The crew doesn’t do much at the beginning of the arc, Luffy, Nami and Usopp left to exchange their gold for money to fix the ship, Robin, Chopper and Sanji left to shop, and Zoro was just guarding the ship, this was all the calm before the storm. Then Zoro by not doing anything during the Luffy vs Ussop moment, shows us how much he respects his captain’s decisions actually, he went with it because it’s his captain’s decision and Luffy will have to face whatever consequences. And then we have a moment where Zoro sliced the sea train in half, defeated a Navy officer at the middle of a story sea (cool setting tbh.) And even during such a high staked arc, he still had some funny moments from what I remember, and then his win against Kaku with the introduction of Ashura, and the “Your fired.” line, all and lastly the way he confronted the crew about Ussop, great moment from him. 9/10.

Thriller Bark isn’t known as one of the greatest arcs, but Zoro actually had some good character moments, even if the arc was lackluster. He gets small minus points for being captured by SPIDER RATS, but he only gets small minus points because it also happened to Luffy and Sanji, but everything after that was uphill for Zoro. He had his fight with Ryuma, retrieved Brook’s shadow, earned Shusui which had Wano ties, was able to lead the Straw Hats to fight Oars (I like it when Zoro takes the leader role when Luffy isn’t around) but they all had some nice team work, and then his biggest character moments this was the whole situation with Kuma, I don’t have to get into details, you already know nothing happened. Even though this arc was mid in my opinion, it still doesn’t change the fact that Zoro got a lot here, 9/10 actually.

Summit War arc. The arc starts with some random “filler” arc with Sanji’s clone, I’ll skip this part because nothing significant happened with Zoro and unironically, nothing significant happened to him during Saboady, like yeah they took their first and biggest L, and the arc was actually good, but nothing much with Zoro’s character. Except for the fact that he was completely unhinged and was about to slice Charlos, even some rookies were questioning how he’s not the captain. One last thing that happened in Sabaody with him is, we got a small sneak peek of Zoro having conquers Haki, it all was teased since Saboady. He wasn’t here during Amazon Lily, Impel Down and Marineford but he still had a moment during Post War arc and it’s when he met Mihawk, he discarded his pride and dream for Luffy’s sake, which was a nice moment. 8/10

Pre time skip ended here, so far if you asked me my overall rating for Zoro, I would say 8.5 or a 9 out of 10, really good character with a very few lows and flaws, but overall good character. Now let’s jump to the time skip.

Time skip starts with return to Sabaody, it was a bit slow but Zoro had some stuff going for him. First he got a completely new redesign which I liked, scar on his eye, new outfit, kinda new ish hairstyle, those don’t change or affect his character, but they’re still good to factor in, he had some funny moments with Sanji, he ended the Pacifista in one hit showing us how much he grew compared to before where they barely defeated one (as a group mind you), and he had that moment where he got on the wrong ship and then just ended their whole pirate career, classic Zoro got lost moment, which was actually done nicely, 8/10

I actually skipped Fishman island and went straight to typing Punk Hazzard after I was done with retune to Sabaody, I completely forgot about Fishman island. 💀 I’ll give Zoro here a 5/10, yeah he had a cool moment blitzing Hody underwater, but that’s really it when you think about it. Actually I’ll bump it to a 6/10 because he actually had a funny moments when they were on their way to Fishman island.

On Punk Hazard Zoro’s character gets questionable to me a bit, because we returned to that whole “she’s a woman” bit, where he refused to cut Monet, even though she was directly posing a threat to them. Like yeah he did give her a small cut under her eye, but then he refused to end her? He didn’t use Haki on his last attack and it made Monent combust, because she thought she was dead. Monet asked herself “Is that how he shows me mercy?” But it wasn’t even about him showing her mercy, it’s about her being a woman, which Tashigi calls out. There was no reason for him to show her any “mercy”, if he was fighting Vergo in that situation and he had the chance to cut him, he wouldn’t hold back, so yeah he gets minus points for me here and then he got caught by the Yeti brothers…and he doesn’t necessarily do anything significant or memorable, not even any character moments or lore or anything, he got nothing her except for a bunch of flaws, this might be Zoro’s worst arc for me tbh, L/10.

During Dressrosa Zoro has a confrontation with Fujitora that didn’t go anywhere, and then he had a small bit that I found annoying, it was him wasting his time chasing a “fairy” that stole his sword, and then after capturing her, he spent the rest of his time being lost. And then Law got clipped by Doffy in front of Zoro and wasn’t able to do anything (I don’t blame him tbh, but still). Then a lot of shit happened with him and Pica fighting here and there, he gets a bonus point for actually laughing with Luffy when they heard Pica’s voice (him laughing gets rare and rare with time), and then he has a cool moment slicing Pica’s mountain sized body, and then proceeds to end him. Nothing much, 7/10 I guess.

Zou arc nothing significant happened to his character there, and he wasn’t around for WCI, so I’ll just skip this entire section.

Wano. Oh boy. Do I seriously have to get in details here? We all know this arc SUCKED for Zoro but I guess I’ll mention a few things. This arc started with Zoro after the audience hadn’t seen Zoro for YEARS, exceptions for this arc were really high duo to all the hype surrounding it, and people were expecting a lot of Zoro lore, considering this arc was all about Samurai’s and swords, but unfortunately, Oda didn’t deliver. Zoro’s lineage was a letdown, wasn’t explored that much and it was revealed in an SBS instead? He said he will return Shusui in exchange, he’ll visit Ryuma’s grave but we never got to see it? He got mad at Yasui’s death, promising that he’ll avenge him, but that plot point faded into nothing, it would’ve been nice if he defeated King and ended Orochi, while Luffy is the one who ends Kaido’s regime, but we didn’t get that. For an arc that’s filled with swordsmen, Zoro never got a rival or a serious sword fight with any of the samurai, or a an opponent that happened to be a swordsman (King isn’t a swordsman), it would’ve been cool if he had a sword battle with anyone (a samurai that ends up on our side, or an enemy, any swordsmen). Most of Zoro’s highs this arc were based on feats (Defeated Hawkin’s puppet, defeated Killer, scarred Kaido, defeated King) while all of those moments were great, Oda focused more on his fights than his character development, even Sanji had a character moment this arc. Zoro had highs but his lows are ridiculous. During the end of the arc, Hiyori tells him that she’ll miss him and what does he say? He says “I’ll keep this sword” (Enma) I won’t reduce any points for Zoro here because he’s not obligated to like her back, but Oda could’ve built the beginning of Zoro’s relationship here with Hiyori. 6/10, let me know if I missed anything bad here.

Egghead, nothing significant happened here, he protects the ship from Kaku while being asleep, and then Zoro proceeds to fight Lucci for 6-9 months which created the funniest slanders I’ve ever seen, and then he went and clashed with some seraphim’s (somehow forgot their weaknesses? Dumbass?) and then had a brief clash with Nusjuro, 6/10 again, nothing much happened with him here.

Elbaf isn’t over but he didn’t do much, he has good control of his Haki now (although he didn’t know it was Conquerors until Gabban told him so), and he saved the kids near the village, nothing much, won’t rate him until the arc is done.

And yeah that’s all, I honestly think Zoro’s character started to decline to me ever since I wanna say Fishman island? Because aside of Dressrosa, it was kinda bad for him at Punk Hazard, kinda mid at Dressrosa, and kinda disappointing at Wano and Egghead, Oda seriously needs to lock in with this character.

I know a lot of won’t read “all of that” but if you read the whole thing, I hope you enjoyed this analysis, if I said anything wrong, feel free to correct me, or if you want to add anything else that I forgot, feel free in doing so, and yeah that’s all, thanks for reading, and take care.

Any arguments as to why Loki can’t outlast Gear 5 minutes?

Now I’m NOT one of those that scale Loki to PK++++ god tier top 1 in the verse, but is there genuinely any reason to believe that he won’t be able to outlast Gear 5?

Heck even Kizaru outlasted Gear 5, and had he wanted to kill him, he would’ve, but instead he helped him out by giving him food.

So now tell me how Loki (who scales higher than Kizaru, is more durable and with better endurance) isn’t gonna be able to outlast Gear 5?

“But but Kizaru kept flying away! That’s how he outlasted him”

Wrong, Luffy was running immediately back, after a few seconds he’d be right back, and the fight would continue from there.

Luffy literally threw a barrage of punches to blob Imu and gassed out?? And you’re telling me Loki can’t outlast him?

This whole “Luffy punched Imu thing” is an overreaction, Loki gets slandered a lot for attacking Imu “Off guard” when he literally jumped right in front of his face and attacked him head on, what was he supposed to do? Tell me “hey you better block, I’m about to attttaack” ?? When in reality Luffy is the one who snuck Imu, which I’m not even gonna slander him for because they’re in a war, Loki didn’t sneak Imu, Imu was being an incompetent senile.

Anyways, I would like to hear any thoughts on this matchup.

Is it fair to say Z Gogeta scales higher than Z Vegito because movie Goku and movie Vegeta scale way higher than their manga/anime counterparts? (Read description)

So for the longest time, I’ve had Z Vegito > Z Gogeta, and that’s simply because the Potara doesn’t require Goku to lower his power level, and it was stated to be the superior fusion method, HOWEVER, after thinking about it, wouldn’t that not matter? Because movie Goku scales way higher than anime/manga Goku, and the same thing for Vegeta? It’s not even close, when Goku went SS3 in canon, he just shocked the Earth, but movie Goku completely shocked the otherworld, and when Gogeta was born, his Ki was so high that Trunks and Goten were able to sense it from the living world, so wouldn’t that make Movie Gogeta > Z Vegito?

The way I see it right now is, a hypothetical Z Vegito from the movie would be > Z Gogeta > Anime/Manga Z Vegito > A hypothetical Anime/Manga Z Gogeta?

Does that make sense?

I like this power up, but I hate how they obtained it.

The way the author handled this situation gives me “this power up is just plot armor” moment for the main characters, and I really dislike it because the author could’ve easily wrote in a way, where it doesn’t feel like it’s a plot armor.

With Madara, we see what sort of stuff he did to awaken his Rinnegan, even after infusing Hashi cells, he still had to wait until he was a crippling old man to awaken his eyes, and then we see how he planned his revival, although he came back in a way he didn’t intend to, it was still something that he can work with, and later on he forced Obito to use Rinne Rebirth on him, and then later on he absorbs the tailed beats and becomes the 10 tailed Jinchuriki, everything he did felt “earned” and we get to see the process of it.

Even with Naruto’s and Sasuke’s other forms, there wasn’t a moment where I felt “oh that transformation is just a plot armor moment” other than the ones they got during the war.

For Naruto, to awaken his powers and let him get SO6P chakra, he could’ve gotten it when Obito was putting the tailed beat back in him, his chakra could’ve slipped in (the other half) and it could’ve triggered an awakening, considering Naruto has his own sage mode, the author could’ve done something like that and worked with what was already presented, instead of SOMEHOW letting the sage of six paths RANDOMLY show up, with zero explanations, and hands then powers…like what? That’s really lame.

And for Sasuke, he could’ve awakened his eyes shortly after when Hashirama gave him his chakra (the other half) and when he got healed up by Kabuto (sage chakra) the infusion of both could’ve been his explanation.

But no, we had to get a shitty unexplained method instead.

This was just a rant, if I missed something or how the sage got back, I’d like to hear it

Sorry if this was extremely obvious, but this is the second time it happened to me, I opened with Raye and some Mitsu cards, decided to play with the Mitsu cards first, and then shouldn’t Mitsu have special summoned itself back after being used as a tribute for Habakiri?

Who spread that propaganda 😭, the amount of LANJI fans I see that think he has future sight is absolutely abysmal

Im calling them lanji fans because they don’t even know their character 🥀

Other than gacha/mobile slop, and trading card games (I’m not shaming you if you enjoy those kind of games, it’s totally fine) but other than those types of games, why doesn’t One Piece get any actual good console games? Isn’t One Piece THEE most popular anime globally or something like that? Most sold manga or whatever? In that case, how come we don’t get any good games every now and then?

I’m aware of the pirate warriors series, but after playing PW1 and PW3, I didn’t feel like getting into PW4, it just feels the same, it’s too easy, and you’re just beating up some NPC’s.

Why doesn’t One Piece get a story mode focused game where the game focuses on Luffy? Like Dragon Ball Z character, where you get to play from beginning of series all the way to end of Elbaf maybe, with Imu being the last fight? And you could have some side missions where you play as the other Straw Hats during the arcs that you’re progressing through (like during Baratie, you could have a mission where you play as Zoro and fight Mihawk, and the game forces you to lose that battle like the Future Gohan fight). I’m not saying One Piece should get a 1:1 copy of DBZ Kakarot, but it could be something like that, where we play from the start all the way to Elbaf, or maybe even Wano, and then set up a sequel for post Wano up until the current arc.

Or we could’ve gotten an arena fighter, like Burning Blood, that was a fun game that failed miserably, and I’m not exactly sure why it failed, the story mode was one arc which shouldn’t be the issue, because that game was mostly about the PvP anyways, and they nailed it, they gave us a decent roster, each character played completely different than the other, almost every character felt unique and different, with their own special gimmicks, so what the hell? Why didn’t we get a sequel? Well, maybe because the fan base didn’t like the story mode, or maybe because One Piece wasn’t as popular as it is now back in 2016, I don’t know, I just know that it failed, which is a bummer, because with a sequel, we could’ve gotten a bigger roster, some balance adjustments, and the game would’ve been good to go.

A dream come true would be a One Piece fighterz (I’ll take a Naruto fighterz too, or a jump force fighterz too, please just give me anything 😭) I don’t see a one piece fighterz ever happening but that’ll be a dream come true

Like heck just give me anything at this point, a super smash bros one piece game, or a sequel to pirates carnival, I’m just fiending for a console one piece game.

I’m aware that pure SS is the best way to play the deck, but I just wanna have fun sometimes and switch it up, I’ve been playing pure SS, Runick SS and The Winged Chicken of Ra SS.

I know there’s a Mistu SS and a Tenpai SS, but are there any other ones that I’m missing? I tried searching but I couldn’t find anything?

Have you tried playing SS with anything else other than the ones I’ve mentioned?
