25 years of Missy Elliot's "Miss E... So Addictive"

25 years ago, on May 15 2001, Missy Elliot released her third studio album, Miss E... So Addictive through Elektra Records and her own label The Goldmind Inc. The album's production was handled mostly by Missy and Timbaland, and has a mix of hip-hop, dance, and R&B beats. The album was certified platinum, and she sold 250,000 album units in first week. Get Ur Freak On received a Grammy award for Best Rap Solo Performance and Missy also received the first Grammy award for Best Female Rap Solo Performance

On the album's intro she says "I know some of y'all sick of songs/Y'all be hearin' on the radio/Ooh (ooh)/So me and Timberland gon' give that shit/You never heard before" and it is so true.

The album spawned five singles, including the iconic lead single Get Ur Freak On, as well as Lick Shot, One Minute Man, and 4 My People.

What do you think of this iconic album? What are your favorite tracks? Do you have any memories/stories associated with this album?

Best man wore a white dress to the wedding.

Hey everyone, this happened on Sunday. So one of my cousins (F27) recently got married to her high school boyfriend (M28) and his best friend/groomsman wore a white wedding dress to the wedding and tried to fake walk down the aisle before the actual wedding. My family is mostly first gen immigrants so they were all confused, but the groom's family was aghast and ashamed lmao.

Apparently it isn't the first time he's done something like this either, when they got engaged after my cousin proposed to her boyfriend last summer, the best friend got very upset when boyfriend said yes and they both took a boys trip to NYC in late June. During the groom's bachelor trip they didn't take my cousin's brother (the other groomsman) with them because they said he'd ruin "the vibe" since he doesn't go to raves or shares the same hobbies.

They were gonna have an Indian wedding and a reception in India a month after this White wedding, but I've heard from my mom that the groom didn't move into the condo my cousin's family gifted her and still lives with his best friend, and I've not received any information on flying to India for the wedding so people in family group chats are getting juicy with the annulment/divorce speculations.

One year ago Charli xcx released Party 4 U as the 4th and final single from her fourth studio album, how i'm feeling now.

A year ago (on May 13 2025) British Singer-Songwriter Charli xcx released Party 4 U as the fourth single from her studio album How I'm Feeling Now after the song started trending on TikTok. Two days later, she released a music video for the song

The song is an electropop song with crescendoing beats, Charli's signature autotuned vocals and features hyperpop beats in the second half and serves as a false closer to how i'm feeling now because it ends with crowd noises. Lyrically, the song is about yearing and Charli throwing a party for one of her friends (or ex lovers), hoping they'd come to the party but they never show up.

The song was featured in the movie Bottoms, as well the Amazon Prime TV series Overcompensating.

What do you think about Party 4 U? How well do you think it fits in the album and do you think this single got the justice it deserved?
