Today marks the first day she can touch public flooring/grass, and she attended a meet-and-greet at the boarding/training facility.
She has been very sweet and very timid, and she shakes like a leaf when she's not comfortable. I do not blame her for that, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't super nervous upon drop-off.
She stayed 4 hours and at 2.5 hours in they sent me 3 pics, and it helped me sooo much to see her ok and doing well!
I live in the PNW, on a lake, and there are numerous eagles and hawks here. I recently brought home a Sheltie puppy, and she mostly goes potty on the deck for now.
This morning, a hawk circled above, and I freaked out, bringing her back inside quickly. Was that the best thing? Or will predator birds not come for her since I will also be there?
Sorry for the possibly dumb question. I grew up in the south, and birds were never an issue.
I'll start by saying I'd only watched live stand-up a few times prior.
I found out a beloved comedian was coming somewhat locally (in Portland; I live in Seattle) and talked my partner into going. I died laughing at every Facebook clip I watched of his. He has never been on Netflix or the likes, so it was very hard to watch much more before the show. Booked the car, hotel, and tickets.
2 weeks before the show, we received an email stating that it had been rescheduled to 2 weeks after the initial show.
Changed the car and hotel to the new date.
Finally got there and was so hyped until 5 minutes into his show. I quickly realized it was all of the same jokes, sometimes slightly altered, just rehashed. The last 5-10 minutes had a couple of jokes I hadn't heard before, but otherwise I was pretty let down.
Is this how stand-up goes?
I feel like I was set up on a blind date by friends who talked about how much they like this person and how good a person they are. Really boastful. Then I'm 5 minutes into the date and realize my friends are terrible judges of character and have let themselves be manipulated. Just really let down.
I have a now 16 week Sheltie. I've had her for 3 weeks now.
We were playing on the deck because she's not allowed to have her feet on the ground anywhere except for in the house and on the deck. Thankfully that will change in a week now that she just had her 4th round of vaccines.
Anyway, we were playing on the deck and she was running as she often does. She slides a lot because of the slick floor. I saw her slide - no worse than any other time, in fact less than other times - and shortly after she started limping and didn't want to put weight on them.
I, much to my partners objection, freaked out. Promptly took her to the vet in tears. I was dying inside until the vet came back with the news.
Long story short: it's just a sprain and she was given a few days of pain meds and told to rest during that time.
Did anyone else do this in their childhood? Who would you call?
My brother and I would call 1800ABCDEFG (Hooked On Phonics) anytime we would be near a payphone 😂 Those poor employees
I did some research and ended up purchasing the standard one. They're very pricey, though, so I'd love to hear firsthand experiences.
We have a 2-story house with the main area we use having a large deck. The door to the outside is upstairs. So, we use the deck until we can go on leashed walks, and for when the weather is bad, and for late-night potty time. So the deck will be used for a long, long time.
I have a highly rated astroturf strip out there now, but the drainage holes aren't working because it's sitting on a solid surface. I hose it off regularly, but it still stinks.

I'm realizing I've been an incredibly overbearing puppy mom. I picked up my now 15-week-old Sheltie puppy on the 11th, and I honestly don't think I've left her side for more than 3 minutes since.
I've been obsessed with potty training and felt like I wasn't watching her constantly to look for cues, then I was a horrible parent. Well, yesterday was one of the worst behavior days since getting her, LOTS of hard biting and rough aggressive playing. It felt like 5 minutes after getting up from a nap; she was right back in overstimulated, tired mode.
She had a pee accident in her playpen right in front of me, and I just picked her up and put her outside. Brought her in and put her back in her pen after I'd cleaned it all up, and walked away to do laundry and clean the next room over.
In less than 5 minutes, she had quit barking and jumping and was chewing a bone, lying on a blanket, and for the first time, acting worn out, tired instead of overstimulated, gremlin tired.
Today I was much more hands-off, and it's working great so far! Not sure if others will agree or relate, but hopefully this helps another pet parent.
