Random Matt and Taliesin Photoshoot

Came across these while looking for references of the cast to practice my drawing with.

Just wanted to put these out here cos I found it extremely funny and was wondering if there's an explanation for this specific photoshoot or if Matt and Taliesin were just in a bit of a homoerotic mood that day.

Also found so many of Sam and Liam kissing - one day historians will call them very close friends. And strangely enough, they would be right 😭

[Spoilers] Call of the Elder Gods Ending

So, absolutely incredible game. I think I preferred Call of the Sea's story, but Elder Gods' puzzles and also the whole cult storyline was a lot of fun.

Only thing that's thrown me for a loop is the ending, almost completely lost on it. Who was Doctor West? I don't get who he was meant to be because the Yith (?) inhabiting Bowen's body refers to someone else as Doctor West? Initially I thought he meant Evangeline, but then apparently Doctor West is a reference to an actual Lovecraft character?

Also, wondering how to get the supposed secret ending? When I was looking at ending explanations, google brought up a secret ending where nobody gets sacrificed: you have to say specific things in a conversation about the time loop with Doctor West in Chapter 6 and follow the instructions of Harry's 1934 expedition? But none of that is in the story I saw and I couldn't find any actual articles, mentions or walkthroughs of it? Is this just google mishmashing random crap and lying or is there actually a secret ending?

Thank you for any help with either problem. Great game, but very confusing.

Way to change the order of songs in an album?

Just bought a sony walkman, model NW-E394. Was just wondering if there's a way to order the songs in an album by the way they were originally organised, as either the walkman or music center for pc keeps putting everything alphabetically?

It isn't that big of a deal, but some albums are just better listening to in order, y'know, so it'd be nice if I could keep them in the correct order.

Thanks!

College of Spirits Bard/Undead Warlock

Got an idea for a cowboy western wanderer who shoots ayeldritch blaeysts from his revolver and travels around telling ghost stories. Eventually he'll have his phantom steed and form of dread so he can be a ghost rider. His patron is his dead wife.

Not too concerned with total optimisation, more just making it viably good. I'd love to go mostly undead warlock because originally I did just want to try pure warlock, but every time I consider it I can't bring myself to - the lack of spell slots puts me off massively even though I love everything else about the class and its subclasses. So I decided to go with bard. What's a good way for me to balance the classes so I can get mostly warlock but still get value and a decent amount of spells out of bard?

Not sure whether to go with chain pact (a raccoon or ferret called Bandit) or talisman pact (a golden dice charm spattered with blood ooh backstory).

Also, if people could help because the College of Spirits description I could find was worded weirdly. Can I roll for the Tale and then save it for when I want to use it or does it get used immediately? And do I only get one Tale per short/long rest, or do I get as many as my bardic dice, as long as I use the previous one first?

Thanks! 👍

How to add spells to a barbarian subclass

I'm trying to homebrew a better version of the Storm Herald subclass for my barbarian but can't get the spellcasting that I want to add to work.

Trying to add augury as a 1/long rest cast, and add three cantrips, but it just won't let me add them. The closest I've gotten is it giving me a dropdown menu that only lets me pick one of them, rather than adding all.

Any help appreciated, thanks

Student Finance Question

I've applied for student finance for my 3rd year, under the circumstance that I'm living at home. I used the student finance calculator and asked for maximum loan, but the amount I've been awarded was significantly less than what the calculator told me I'd get.

I'd rather live away from home, as I haven't had the chance to do that in the first 2 years, but am worried I've prevented myself from doing that by applying for living at home.

So, I'm wondering if there is a way for me to find out if I would get more student loan (because the calculator clearly isn't the most reliable) - enough to make living away viable - without committing to it. I don't want to commit to accommodation only for my student finance to not be enough, but I also don't want to change my student finance and then my accommodation fall through and get in trouble.

Path of the Storm Herald, Revised

Been wanting to play a Storm Herald Barbarian but the base class just isn't very good so I decided to make some changes.

I made a few of my own edits but also took some inspiration from the following revisions:

Barbarian: Path of the Storm Herald (Revised) | GM Binder

path-of-the-storm-herald-revised.pdf

I changed the aura names because naming them after environments rather than the actual storms felt weird. I got rid of the flat numbers on the desert and tundra auras and made sea aura scale with rage damage so that it acts as an actual aura rather than just dealing damage to one enemy within a limited range. Blizzard acts as a defensive aura, Squall trades off high damage for type versatility and more targeted strikes, and Wildfire gets better AOE and better damage but with potential for hitting allies.

Added Herald of the Tempest to make the subclass lean into its elemental focus more, give it a bit more flavour and a little bit more utility.

Storm Soul was difficult as I wanted to add even more out-of-combat utility for barbarians but was unsure how to do that effectively in three different ways, on-theme for the different storm types. I'm hoping the extra resistance on Squall balances well enough with the expertise on Blizzard and the immunities on Wildfire.

Shielding Storm is the same and Raging Storm is essentially taken from the revision done by Dirty_Rooster since it was already well done.

Any suggestions or help in balancing (particularly with Storm Soul) is welcome and appreciated.

[No Spoilers] Discussion: Will Critical Role pass to a new party?

So this is purely hypothetical and hopefully a distant prospect to even discuss, but I was wondering what people thought about the future of the Critical Role cast?

As the brand grows into a larger company and all the original cast kinda have a hand in the business, plus as they get older, they of course are unlikely to continue to play forever, or at least not for the camera. And they seem to be bringing in slightly younger names for important side projects, e.g. Jennifer English, Abubakar Salim, Vico Ortiz and Zach Renauldo for Age of Umbra Sallowlands, who are all closer to early 30s/late 20s.

Perhaps they just want to give younger people in the business a platform, or maybe age doesn't come into it at all, but with the expansion of the main campaign cast and the more frequent involvement of people outside the main cast, it seems like they could be preparing alternatives for when they choose to step back/down.

What do you think, will they pass the torch on to a new Critical Role generation, or will they perhaps end the main game, produce a larger number of small campaigns with different casts, or maybe even end it altogether and just become a major TTRPG brand? If you do think they'll pass on the torch, which up and coming VOs and actors do you think would make a good party?

Again, purely hypothetical, but a thought I've been having more recently as a younger Critter whose slightly nervous at the thought of no more Thursday nights when I'm older 😅

Just some appreciation for the writers/VOs of the game

"But did he save them from the Kharaa? No. Our sky is black and we are done with gods."

"Capital has taught everyone that nature is a marketplace of violence, that natural selection is the same as competition. . .nature is not operated by the same logic as a publicly traded corporation - the cynicism slams down like a hatch. Everything is a job. Fitness is profit. Profit is life. It's a trap. And I'm going to find the way out."

Yes Nahema, keep monologuing, cos every second of it is pure gold. Dana Green is incredible. Subnautica was amazing at making you feel the fear and determination of the other survivors, but the voice acting and writing is giving us *philosophy* in this game. And all the dialogue isn't even *complete*, this is just the early access taster.

A lot of the dialogue is incredible, NoA is also very interesting in how it skirts around its AI-ness and almost seems to have a personality mixed up from all the real people its met, but this monologue from Nahema was just amazing and so relevant to current events while still relating to the game and Alterra's constant misunderstanding of and inability to control the planet. Can't wait for the full release!

First entry level, now internships?

I'm nearing the end of my 2nd year of uni and, as part of my 3rd year, required for me to GRADUATE, I have to complete 70 hours of work experience relating to my degree.

I've been applying non-stop to part-time, entry level jobs for 2.5 years to get a little bit of income and have made it to exactly 2 interviews and no further, even after getting several rounds of career and CV advice. I figured, oh well, entry level is screwed, I'll get job experience when I do an internship. I've already applied for over 30 internships (many through prospective applications) and heard back from none of them.

I just wanted to show this skill description for one in a sustainability engineering internship. Regardless of whether this job is suitable for my degree or not, these recruiters are *delusional* if they think they're going to find a 20/21 year old student with practical electrician's experience, data analysis, supply chain management experience *and* CAD. I know other students who do various engineering degrees and know for a fact none of them have every skill listed, maybe one or two, but not all. Btw, this internship is a partnership directly with my university, specifically offered as a summer internship for penultimate year students.

Since when did internships, where you're supposed to work for free in return for experience and actually learning these skills, become literal slave labour with no pay, requiring that you already know everything in the first place? How the hell are young people supposed to get jobs? How the hell are we supposed to *graduate* when we need a job to do that, but no job will take us?

Sorry for the rant but I'm just so *tired* of this stupid economy that is actively excluding young people from employment for the fact that they can't be bothered teaching us the job.
