Alarm Europaplatz

Around 15 minutes ago, there was an alarm in Europaplatz (underground Stop) asking people to leave the platform as soon as possible.

Did anyone experience it? And does anyone know the reason for it? Scared the shit out of me as it was my first experience of such.

Can someone explain me these values of my recent eye checkup?

Hi everyone, I (29 Male) recently visited an eye specialist here in GERMANY for regular checkup of my eyesights.

These are the values for my left and right eyes. Due to the language barrier, I could not understand and ask a lot of questions. So, taking my chances here, could anyone explain me what these values here? I am particularly confused about these double values for each parameter. For example: A for <L> has 108 and 129. What are these values?

Thank you for your responses!

Europe in September

Hi everyone,

I (29 Male) am a non EU national but living in Germany for few years now. Anyone, preferably based in EU, interested in exploring some places in Europe this September? I will have a 7-10 days free in September but the dates are quite flexible.

I speak English, German and two more languages and have been to 14 countries so far.

My initial plan was to visit Georgia but I am quite flexible.

You can write me if anyone’s interested 👌

First steps for investing in Germany

Hi everyone,

I started my full time job 6 months ago after finishing my uni. I would like to now invest few hundred euros every month in stocks, ETFs, etc. But I am fairly new to this game.

Probably this has already been asked here multiple times, how do I start? Are there any resources (blogs, youtube videos, subreddits) that I can follow? As someone very new to this, I am looking for something that does not have high risk. I would appreciate any kind of guidance on it.

Thanks in advance for your responses 🙂

Westweg für 3-5 Tage am Ende September/Anfang Oktober

Hi everyone,

I (28 Male) am planning to do solo multi day hikes (3-5 days) in the Westweg trail this September/October. This will be my first multi days hiking in Germany. I am based in BW. I regularly do sports and have done 2 multi day hikes in my home country.

I have some questions regarding this. If anyone has done this trail recently or in the past or is familiar with the below questions, I’d appreciate your answers.

  1. Is this a good time to hike in this trail? Peak Summer time is too hot for me.
  2. Which section would you recommend me to fit it my 3-5 days period?
  3. Are there enough amenities for accommodation (guest houses, camping sites, etc. )? Are there any camping places where I can pay and stay for the night? Or should I have to arrange tent and everything on my own?

Thanks in advance for your answers 🙏

Recommendation for eye doctors / ophthalmologist

Hi all,

Could anyone recommend me a good ophthalmologist in the city who speaks English?

I wear prescription glasses since 2015. I am just trying to check my eye health which I haven’t done in few years (used to do it every 1-2 year back home).

Also, is this kind of yearly checkup covered by public insurance (AOK in my case)?

Thanks for any recommendations 🙏

Is this hearbeat normal?

Hi everyone,

Ran continuously for 30 minutes after a long time. I would like to know if this heart beat is normal. Or should I slow down or continue like this? I was running in my normal comfortable speed.

Is this normal heart rate for trademill running?

Hi everyone, I am trying to slowly start running. I have for now only ran 2-3 kms on treadmill so far. My last session was 3.13 km on trademill.

I would like to ask if the heart rate here is normal during the run. Should I slow down or continue and eventually the heart rate will decrease? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated!

My goal is to be able to run 5K and 10K

kkoog Argentina WC 2026 Home Kit and Germany WC 2026 Third Kit

Hi everyone,

I ordered two world cup jerseys (Player Version) with Kkoog on 22nd June and received my order yesterday (17th July) here in Germany (right on time for the final)

On the same day of the payment, I received a confirmation email. And then there was nothing (no quality check pics, reply to Whatsapp messages) or anything. And on 8th of July, I received an email saying that the jerseys have been sent and was delayed due to the large number of orders (understandable).

2026 WC Germany Away Player - 18$
2026 WC Argentina Home Player (Messi printed) - 21$

Shipping was 9.6$

I am 170 cm and around 71 kg.

Review: Both the jerseys look decent. The Argentina one fits perfectly but the German is a bit bigger, even though I ordered M for both. I compared both to the ones in the Adidas Website and found the Argentina one to better. Fabric wise too, that one is better. Unfortunately, the pattern in the German away kit doesn’t match to the original ones (and not even to the pictures that they have in the website)

I hope this helps to some of you.

Maybe someone who has these original jerseys can review on the quality of this one.

Thanks!

Normalization of data in deep learning

Hey everyone,

I have recently started my DL journey after attending a course in the university.

For my project, I have decided to do a binary segmentation using satellite imageries with 4 channels (Red, Green, Blue and Near Infrared) using Unet. I have divided the data to training, test and validation dataset. I would like to know what is the best strategy to normalize my dataset.

Someone told me to calculate minimum and maximum values or mean and SD across all 4 channels in **Training dataset only and use these values to normalize the entire training, test and validation dataset.** My current approach is normalizing individual images with its min and max values for all dataset. Is thing wrong approach?

Thanks for any feedbacks!

Planning to run my first 10 km in September. What should I do?

Hi everyone,

I am planning to run my first 10k run in September. I would like to hear advice on how I can prepare myself. Never been into running. Can I do it?

Short info about me: 29M, played soccer as an hobby all my life but never into proper running. Tore my ACL 2 year ago and cleared by the doctor for getting back to sports after operation. Started going to gym in January 3 times/ week.

I would like to know how can I prepare myself for the 10 km run. I have in fact never done even 5k running (maybe while playing football but not independently)..

Thanks in advance for your advices 🙏

Recent order with Kkoog

Hi everyone,

Has recently ordered jerseys from Kkoog?
I ordered and made payment on 22nd June for delivery to Germany. I received the order confirmation and nothing so far. I understand that the World Cup peak could be a factor but he has not really responded to any WhatsApp queries.

Has anyone recently ordered from them and heard back from them? Thanks!

DL model performs very good on test dataset of same year but looks bad for a new dataset

Hi everyone,

I am training a deep learning model for binary segmentation using satellite imageries. For the data that I have label for, I divided them to training, test and validation. The best model peformed very good on validation as well as test dataset. The metrics for IOU, Precision, Recall and F1 score are all above 90%.

But when I ran the best model for a different year satellite imageries, the results doesn’t look very good visually (couldn’t calculate metrics due to unavailability of label data).

I would like to know if there’s any thing I can do in this situation. Maybe some people had similar experience.

Thanks for your answers!

Training loss at first epoch is 0.056 Is this realistic?

Hi everyone,

I am doing a binary segmentation using drone imageries. I run the model for 50 epochs. The model performs really well on all training, validation and test datasets. All the metrics (IOU, Precision, Recall and F1 score) are above 90% for all datasets. I use simple Dice Loss for loss computation.

My loss for training and validation dataset at 1st epoch is 0.0560 and 0.0431 respectively and for 50th epoch, it goes down to 0.0081 for training and 0.0126 for validation dataset.

I would like to know if these small values for loss in first epoch is normal. Because the metrics looks very good, I feel like this is alright. Just a beginner in DL tasks, but I have not seen such low value for loss at 1st epoch.

Does anyone have similar experience? Could really use some help. Thanks 🙏
