Random OLED panel failure on IPhone 15PM

As you can see in the photo, I’ve developed the purple line to death on my screen despite them being no damage to the screen, it was not dropped, cracked or exposed to water. It’s a clear random hardware failure that occurred, I’ve had the phone since launch day basically and replace the battery back in December after it exceeded 1000 cycles and started to throttle the GPU significantly, limiting refresh rate etc even though in battery health it said it was still at 87% and performing fine- it wasn’t, and Apple tried to talk me into just upgrading, but luckily I didn’t trust them and spent $100 to pop a new battery in it and got the phone working like new. But now unfortunately this has happened, and I believe a new screen replacement from Apple is ~$400 USD. I don’t have AppleCare+, and obviously it is now out of warranty however I believe since it was not user error and a clear hardware failure that Apple should replace this for free on a Goodwill basis. I’ve had luck with them doing that in the past with a MacBook a few years back but it took hours on the phone and escalating it to multiple supervisors before they agreed to basically make a one time exception and replace the device. I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and was able to get Apple to cover their repairs, considering I did nothing to damage the phone and this just happened randomly and to me it is a clear indicator of OLED panel failure. It’s clearly hardware related I’ve tried everything from restarts to resets and the issue persists. I’ve called some shops that quote only $149 but that’s for a non-genuine Apple display which I do not want, either an a cheap LCD or an aftermarket cheap OLED that is not up to standards and may cause issues down the line. I’m just not sure what to do here, I love the 15 Pro Max the design and it still works great in 2026 and I do not want to upgrade to the 17 Pro Max which is, imo, unsightly and I don’t wanna spend all that money when I have a perfectly working phone that I prefer. Also the 18 is coming out in just a few months so part of me doesn’t want to upgrade until then if I had to but the purple line of death is bothering me severely every time I look at it, it agitates my OCD and I’ve heard the issue can worsen with time. So I’m not sure what the right course of action is here, ideally Apple will recognize that it was not user error and do a Goodwill repair for free but spending almost $400 to repair the display on a device that’s approaching the three-year-old mark is also hard to swallow. Any advice? Anyone had something similar like this happen and was able to get Apple to do the right thing???

Random purple line on left side of screen?

For context, I developed a small very small crack in my screen protector a couple days ago and then randomly today this purple line appears on the left side of the screen which stays even for 20 seconds after powering down the phone completely and then reappears immediately upon reboot. It’s on the very very edge of the screen it’s almost not noticeable from certain angles but very much still present.

SmartStart class action lawsuit

I have a SmartStart IID in my car which recently malfunctioned, and blew a false violation likely due to hand sanitizer use just minutes prior. I don’t even drink alcohol, Period. I didn’t use mouthwash or eat before hand. Obviously when I retested not even a minute after the violation happened I passed because the device malfunctioned.

This cost me a $30 service fee at the service center once again even though I had just been there four days prior for its monthly calibration, and then smartstart sent me a bill for $200.
I’ve been getting calls for three days from them threatening to lock me out of my car if I don’t pay it which I did, and then today I received an email informing me that my appeal was denied and I would have to eat the cost even though it was clearly a device malfunction and not my fault.

I’m thinking of pursuing litigation against this scam of a company, and would love anybody else to share their opinion with this bullshit company and potentially get in on the class action lawsuit with me. Let’s take these corporate criminals down!

I’m trying to get insurance for my new car after a year+ of not driving, and the rates I’m being offered are insane. I’m talking like between 800-1100 a month just for the state minimum; liability only. I don’t have a perfect driving record but nothing crazy either.

I’ve had some people suggest something like Root, (despite supposedly being a garbage company who doesn’t work with you at all, I can’t afford to actually cover my car at all right now so whatever) however they require you to download an app on your phone which tracks everywhere you go, how you drive, and your rate is almost completely based on this and most people seem to say their rate went up from what was promised sometimes substantially. 2 things -
I despise the nanny state we’re becoming and no part of me wants to have my everyday movements tracked and triangulated every single time I drive. Also, the app claims it can tell if you’re a passenger or driving using your phone, I call BS. There’s no algorithm that’s good enough to get it even close to 100% accurate, and root raises your rate significantly if it thinks you were using your phone as a driver even if you weren’t, and many people on here report that their support team will not help whatsoever. Moreover, sometimes you HAVE to accelerate or hard brake on the road. It’s unavoidable if you drive enough. I don’t want to see my rate increase simply because some other asshole on the road on their phone pulled out in front of me and I had to slam the brakes.

Anyone had success with buying a cheap used phone and installing their insurance’s tracking app on that? I assume as long as you take it for a drive every now and again around the block so it has some activity, it would be fine, but I’m curious if it will really work before investing money to buy a second device I don’t have one laying around atm.

Also any suggestions for different/better companies are welcome. I’m really stuck in a hole with the rates I’m being offered, it’s impossible to afford or even mentally justify considering I would wreck my car and still be fucked after paying 1k a month.

Been wondering if anyone else has noticed this, lately I’ve noticed after a period of time of the shield being off/in standby mode, there’s a slight delay between the video and audio, and even just the UI noise like when scrolling through the Home Screen or settings menus. Almost like it’s suddenly super laggy, except visually there’s no lag and it’s just the audio. No difference in available ram between when it’s happening and when it isn’t.
It is only fixed by a restart. At first it only happened once every blue moon but now it’s been almost once a day. Anyone know a fix?
