Top 4! Recs and thoughts?
My coworker called my top 4 “deeply unperformative” and I can’t tell if it’s an insult 😭 what do you guys think?
Walk with me here…
Rewatching all Toy Story films in preparation for Toy Story 5 this week. Also on a bit of a 60s Hollywood kick. Therefore… my brain cooked up the sweetness that is post-Paris Blues-era Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward as Woody & Bo Peep
What do my celebrity crushes say about me? (F22)
An eclectic collection of some of my most prominent celebrity crushes. What can you determine from it?
P.S. I am straight but have explored my sexuality in the past and turns out the women I was obsessed with (Jane Fonda, Megan Thee Stallion, Joanne Woodward) were just women I wanted to emulate… I think?? Still up in the air.
Priority watchlist update!
The last two weekends I’ve posted my actual immediate watchlist (top 20 films next for me to watch) and gotten some really great advice on the order/priority I should watch them in!
Let me know what I should prioritize this week from this list & what you’ve been watching :)
My priority watchlist. Which 3 should I watch this MDW?
Priority watchlist
Does anyone else maintain a “priority watchlist” because their main one has grown too unruly?
My watchlist has over 1000 films on it, so I’ve been keeping a priority watchlist of the next 20 films I’d like to watch when I’m looking for something, as well as where I can watch them in the notes.
Also… out of these 20, which one should I pick for tomorrow? :)
Your favorite movie from my top 4 + a movie from your top 4 you think I’d like!
What the title says! Comment your favorite movie from my top 4 and a movie from your top 4 you think I’d like.
I’m going to make a list of everyone’s favorites!
Hi everyone!! I’m looking for some advice here because I (21F) have found myself in this situation quite often in the past year or so.
TL;DR I, a young woman, often (about 1/10 times I go to movies) find myself alone in theatres with groups of men who are extremely disruptive and can even get aggressive with me when shushed or politely asked to stop. Asking staff to assist has often not helped or only helped temporarily. Is there anything I can do to safely stop or prevent this from happening without putting myself in physical danger?
My AMC theatre is more sparsely attended and I’m often nearly alone in showings especially as I tend to go during the day or afternoon since I work at night. It is not uncommon for an audience to be me and a group of men/boys.
Today I saw Hokum (which I think I enjoyed? I’ll have to go again) and was sat in the back corner by myself. The movie started and it was me and then one man (probably my age or a little older) alone a few rows up. Yay! Great, entertaining beginning to the film. About 25 minutes in (55 minutes after showtime) his two friends come in shouting and laughing and shining their flashlights all around. They sit and then literally just talk full volume for the entire length of the movie. Every time there was a jump scare they would fake scream. SO obnoxious 😭
I shushed them twice and then said “can you please be quiet” so they started throwing popcorn and wrappers at me???? At this point I went to go get a staff member who came in and asked them to stop, to which they laughed at.
Now I’m alone in this theatre with these literal adult men who are still talking and fake screaming and so I ask for someone to help me again. Someone from the staff tells me essentially that there’s nothing they can do and it’s unfortunately on me to leave if I am bothered by the other patrons… so yeah alright I dip at that point.
I asked for my A-List credit back, which the manager gave me and then also some kind of universal ticket that can be used for anything I think? I have to look into that lol.
Unfortunately, my schedule is really school and work focused and I get to do very few small things for myself sometimes like go to the movies. The film isn’t going to be shown at any time I can go see it at my theatre before it closes :( this is the one time I had planned out and been able to go and I’m really upset.
Anyway, that’s just today. Long story short is that I’ve had this issue before with pairs or groups of men age 35 ish and under that just talk through entire films or shine lights or use their phones or whatever. I have been threatened and even followed to my car once. I have no ground to stand on as a young woman who is alone and I really don’t know what to do. I’m very polite when I ask people to stop being disruptive and have (I think) exhausted every option here.
Going to the movies is my one hobby and thing I get to do for myself :(. Most of the time I have a great time! But I would say it’s about 1 in 10 times I have experiences like this. I don’t know if it’s the movies I’m seeing that are attracting assholes? But it’s everything from Hoppers to Hokum at this point and I don’t know where to go from here.
Please let me know if anyone has any advice! I’m really at a loss and don’t want to give up my hobby & favorite self-care activity.
Advice please! Solo young female moviegoer looking for how to deal with disruptive people SAFELY :)
