Is getting a leather jacket a bad idea for English weather?

My only jacket is a mesh jacket as I started riding in Spring. Now we are slowly headed to Autumn, I have been thinking about getting a Winter jacket. I tried on a Furygan Clint Evo yesterday and loved it. But I am hesitant because I am not sure how well jackets like that hold up in the rain. Is it worth it? Or best get something textile and waterproof?

How am I supposed to resolve an issue with British Gas

Been with British Gas for a few years and never had a problem until recently. One of my house mates moved out and was person who was signed up with them, so when she left we had to sign up again. They quoted us the same price as before...great, so literally two months later we get a bill which is over double what we usually pay. So we call them, they apologise and said they just "assumed" that we used that much, and we will get a refund in the difference within the next 10 working days. That passes, and nothing. So we call them again, and they tell us that the doubled price is correct and we are not getting a refund and have to do a bank indemnity claim if we want it back. They then ask for a meter reading, and they tell us they have a much higher reading on their end and I need to send them a photo of the reading. So I send them a photo of our much lower reading, and they say they will get back to us. Honestly it is giving me such a headache, I am not even convinced they will get back to us and I will be calling them again. What can I do to make them fix this? They are going to rob us of double our actual bill again soon.

Which Levis would you recommend that are similar to 501's but with a bigger leg opening?

Hello,

I am looking for a nice fitting pair of straight leg jeans. I love the classic 501s, but find that the leg opening is always too small for my liking. I would like a pair with a slightly roomier straight leg, allowing for bigger hem without being wide pants.

Many thanks!

Weird Christian Guy

Has anyone ever been approached by this weird Christian evangelist guy. I was sat in a park on a wall overlooking the river when this guy sits on a bench opposite me and starts praying intensely in German. I am kind of used to eccentric characters (I am from the UK), so I just mind my own business. But he then gets up and sits next to me and starts talking about Jesus. I asked him where he was from, and he said he was Polish, so I asked him why he was praying in German, and he laughed and said he does not know and Jesus told him to. He pulls out a bible, and goes on to read scripture to me for about an hour (lol). I don't mind other people having their own religious, and spiritual beliefs but this guy came across quite mentally unwell. Every time I tried to present him with a question, or challenge him, he would really intensely just flick to some random bible page and read some other vague (and very open to interpretation) bible verse to answer. He said he converted eight years ago after being a drug addict. I try to be nice to everyone I meet, and do not want to negatively judge anyone for their beliefs which is why I managed a long one hour of patience for this guy. I was just interested to know whether this guy is known around central Porto? I think it is a good thing to find something in your life which gives it meaning, but I was quite concerned about his well being to be honest. He seemed like a nice person, but just came across very deluded and quite mentally unwell. I am not sure what mental health services are like in Portugal. Anyway, if you do see him, be nice to him, but maybe ask him if he has family, and if they know where he is etc.

Himalayan 411 (BS4), handguards or no handguards?

Bit of a beginner question. Is it worth the risk of taking the hand guards off of my Himalayan 411 BS4? They came with the bike. I like to the look of them, but I do not like that you have to move the windshield up. The windshield looks a lot better in the down position, but there is no room if you are using hand guards. If I take the hand guards off, what are the chances of my levers breaking if I drop the bike? Are they really worth having? I want to move the windshield to the down position.

Was given homework. Ready to send them the document.

This is me being slightly paranoid. I had my appointment and opened my application. It all went well, but needed to give them one extra document. They sent me an email with the document that I needed (a government document stating that my Italian grandfather never became a British citizen). The email just said to please send it to an address at the bottom of the email (same place I had my appointment. I now have the document exactly as they need it, and am ready to send it to them. My question is, when they receive it, how do they know it is for my application? There is a number at the top of the email they sent me, maybe it is my application number and I can write that on the envelope?

Every year I miss the JLPT

My ADHD brain has made it so difficult for me to get a slot. I always miss the opening because it is not up for very long. I assume it is announced roughly the same time, twice a year. Whenever I finally remember it is roughly time to book it, I check and it is already full and I am way too late. I put so much time into studying and getting to a point where I am comfortable with N2, and I feel a bit put down by myself by not getting this certificate. Does anyone know if there is a way to set a notification for when the applications open for London? Is it announced on socials?

Living above a funeral home

Hello,

Not a practicing witch. Just seeking guidance to protect myself and my living space. I live above a funeral home. I moved in with some friends a couple years ago. I was sort of worried of paranormal activity when we first moved in but we never had a problem. One of my friends recently moved out, so I decided to take her room as it is bigger. I know for a fact that this room is above the "viewing" room in the funeral home. Our gas/electricity meters are in the funeral home, so we have to go through whenever we need to check them. Anyway, as I said, I have never had any paranormal activity in this home before. My thought process is:why would a deceased person haunt the funeral home where their body is just passing through? The room for the most part is really nice, I like it, and am comfortable. But sometimes the energy just feels kind of weird, and I have been having some really anxiety induced dreams which I never used to have, but I will wake up like the air is really thick, not like I can't breathe, but just something in the air that I cannot explain. I heard whispering last night (my house mates were both staying over their boyfriends houses so it was just me in the house).

Also, I am not sure if it is entirely related but since moving into this room, I have been having really weird interactions with people. I have had a few random people come up to me for no reason and be really angry at me. Which is something that never really happens to me but has done very recently.

What is the best thing to do to protect myself?

Thank you witch people.

Certificate of non-naturalisation translation (UK)

Hello,

My appointment was around one month ago in London. They told me I needed to add a certificate of non-naturalisation for my grandfather (through form NQ). I have just received the document, and now need to get an apositlle, and a translation into Italian. I called up a service that can do both together, but I was a bit confused, they were asking if I needed to get a "sworn", or "certified" translation, and whether I needed the apositlle also translated. At this point I was quite stumped. Does anyone know if it matters which translation I go for? And apostille does not need to be translated as far as I remember, right?

Thank you.

Reaching out to UK based jure sanquinis applicants help.

Recently, I submitted my application in London. They said everything looked fine, but said I needed to add "Confirmation of non-acquisition of british citizenship" for my deceased grandfather. I have taken a look at the form on the gov website, but I am quite confused. To anyone who has filled this out in behalf of a parent/grandparent, does anyone know if I am entering my personal information, or my grandfathers? The application asks for personal information, then towards the end asks if you are applying on behalf of someone else (deceased etc).

Himalayan 411 spark plug is really tight when screwing in.

Hello,

Needed to do my valve check. Completed it and put everything back together. But, when I try putting the spark plug back in it is really tight (possibly going in at an angle). I stopped immediately as I was worried about threading it. Is there a way you are supposed to screw it back in properly?

Helllpp.

Thank you.

Was talking to my friend today and I accidentally used this made up word to express my paranoia, and annoyance at double checking my work rota to make sure I was not supposed to currently be in work. Is it good?:

parannoying
adjective

Definition:

  1. Feeling irritated or frustrated by one’s own paranoid thoughts.
  2. Causing annoyance because it provokes or feeds paranoia.

Usage: informal

Examples:

  • “I keep double-checking my work rota, it’s getting really parannoying.”
  • “That noise outside my window is a bit parannoying, I can’t relax.”
  • “I know no one’s talking about me, but the thought keeps coming back, it’s so parannoying.”

Etymology: Blend of paranoid + annoying.

The lady who went through my application was really nice. She said it looks great, but I need to add a certificate of non-naturalisation for one of my grandparents. And I need my mothers divorce registered, and she gave me this link https://conslondra.esteri.it/en/servizi-consolari-e-visti/servizi-per-il-cittadino/stato-civile/per-registrare-una-sentenza-di-divorzio/

But I already presented documents for her divorce to my father from the crown court and also have a translation. I was sort of nervous and just had a pile of documents, that the lady was sieving through whilst giving a few of them back to me, including these divorce papers. So now I am sat at my computer trying to do this homework, but confused. Did I get the wrong documents for the divorce? Or am I supposed to do something else? I need to find some clarification.

Secondly, the non-naturalisation application says the document is only valid for 3 months once issued. Is that a problem? Because I need to get it translated into Italian, and then added to my application. It such an expensive document to get.

Recently passed my test, and it was drilled into my head that I have to buy some good security for my not so expensive motorbike. So I bought a litelok, and a disc lock. But whilst walking around central London yesterday, I noticed that many really nice motorbikes had no locks whatsoever. Do some bikes have onboard security? Or are most people just assuming it will still be there when they get back? It really blew my mind, seeing Tigers, Africa Twins, Ninjas, just sitting around with nothing.
