You guys asked for an update on my previous post on the completion of me major work so here it is!

Unfortunately, I did have to rush the finishing of my project due to my HSC Trial exam study messing up my schedule, but fortunately I was able to finish it in time with no issues! For any of you wondering I used Sample73 a hard wax oil finish developed by FourEyes Furniture a great YouTuber I recommend you all watch.

I’ve nearly completed my major work for the HSC, so I’d like to show you everything I’ve done so far

It has been a long journey indeed, I started this project with absolutely no experience whatsoever, and me being the type of person that values everything being high end I bought some American Walnut, probably my favourite type of wood available on the market today. I also wasn’t satisfied with my schools hand tools neither so I ended up buying my own set of Japanese chisels, saws and measuring tools to ensure to best outcome for my project. Unfortunately though out my project I opted to take my teachers advice, which ended up in me making many mistakes along the way, this was due to it being the quickest viable solution in their opinion, my advice for a high schooler starting their major work is always to the highest quality, most precise way even if it takes longer, because if you make a mistake it can set you back way longer and negatively affect your projects appearance. Anyway after joining everything together and finishing the dovetail halving with chisels I’m proud to say it’s nearly done. Today I used some non acrylic wood filler and I’ve started sanding down everything with 120, 180, and 240 grit sanding paper to ensure a nice smooth surface for when I finish it with my hard wax oil finish, Sample 73 by FourEyes Furniture. I also sent off the tabletop to a facility with a high end industrial drum sander to make it level and flat. But I hope you’ve read everything and appreciate my project as much as I do, I’ll be sure to post the final product!

I just built a PC and I really need your help (all info in description)

I have just built a new SFF PC, here is the basic spec list for you:
MOTHERBOARD ASUS ROG STRIX X870-I GAMING WIFI
CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 9850x3D
GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 5080
RAM: 2x16GB CL30 6000MHz

So here’s my story, I built the PC and it successfully booted into BIOS, since I had a MAC I had to partition my USB drive into two parts to get the full Windows 11 ISO file onto it, when it booted I noticed there weren’t any network drivers, so it didn’t let me go to the next step, I simply asked ai what command I could use to bypass it and I did. Eventually I took out the drive once in Windows but it crashed, after some trouble shooting I realised Windows was installed on the boot drive which I found weird. I then wiped the drive on my MAC, and used a program Windiskwriter which worked amazingly, it installed the ISO file and I added some network and Bluetooth drivers from the official ASUS website. I booted into Windows, downloaded my drivers and everything was working great, I ran War Thunder on 1080p max settings I was getting between 350-550 fps. Everything was performing as expected, then I ran into some problems when trying to launch Rainbow Six Siege, it kept crashing and I didn’t know why, I went to Claude AI and copied in the error code which was hypervisor_error 0x20001. Claude helped me troubleshoot and fix it, I ended up turning it off, I later updates BIOS (keep in mind I had perviously updated graphics and chipset drivers) and I launched War Thunder and I was getting below 150 FPS, I kept asking Claude what to do, I checked everything and even ran a Cinebench test on my GPU and CPU, I even went to BIOS and made sure EXPO and all other things where on, nothing seems to work and I’m unsure on what to do.

Don’t buy the PG27AQWP-W

Two days ago, I purchased the PG27AQWP-W a so called top of the line Tandem Oled monitor with amazing HDR performance and colours, and of course the blazing fast 540hz refresh rate and 0.02ms response time. Immediately after unboxing the monitor it looked like shit, all the grey colours looked almost dirty and the screen had these textured lines going through any grey bits, I hated it and couldn’t get my eyes off it. It’s a shame that a $2000 dedicated display looks worse than my MacBook. But I will say, it was buttery smooth and when going into games everything looked good, but I would always come across the issue and even grey banding. I then went to Mwave to go seek a refund, and I had to wait three hours in the store to talk to the manager, they tested it saying nothing was wrong, although visibly it looked like shit.

Topping DX1 II Review

The Topping DX1 II is, in my opinion, the best DAC/headphone amplifier available in its price range. The packaging is thoughtfully designed and includes both a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable. Straight out of the box, everything feels premium and well constructed, the unit has a satisfying weight to it, and the knobs and buttons are solid and precise.

Testing it with my MacBook Pro, the audio was clean, with no distortion or background hiss. I’m thoroughly pleased with this purchase. If you’re in the market for a DAC/amp to pair with IEMs or headphones, the DX1 II is an easy recommendation.

Mode Sonnet 2026 Issue

I was so excited when I found out that my mode sonnet had finally been delivered. Everything looked and felt amazing though I was confused as there wasn’t an up to date guide. I looked at an old 2024 guid and alextosos building one, I first tried installing the motherboard with the screws provided, the right screw threaded in but barely and got lose easily, the left one however didn’t at all, I tried using longer screw but then they protruded through the other side which was horrible, I spent hours trying to fix the issue but was brought to dismay.

Installed the cooler

Yes I know the cooler is protruding the case. This cooler in particular is the Noctua NF-L9x65 chromax.black. I didn’t like the AXP90 full copper due to quality, aesthetics, and crappy mounting system. So I chose this as a temporary option and will change it in the future when better options come out like the AXP90-X53 PRO.
