Battery drain and slow charging after One UI 8.5 Update in Samsung Galaxy A17 5G

I recently bought a brand-new Samsung Galaxy A17. Before One UI 8.5 update, I used to get a battery SOT (screen on time) of around 6 hours, but after the OneUI 8.5 update, I am getting only 4.5 hours battery SOT.

Also, the charging speed has reduced with my original 25W samsung charger. In AccuBattery, before the update, it used to show battery charging current of ~20 watts, but after the update, it has reduced to ~15 watts. The complete charging from 10% to 100% takes a total of 1.5 hours now.
I double checked that the fast charging option is enabled in settings, but still it's charging slowly. Also, I switched off my smartphone and tried to charge completely to 100% and later switch it on (for battery calibration), but still the slow charging issue is not fixed.

It has already been 2 weeks since I updated the One UI 8.5, but even now, I am facing these issues. This seems to be a bug in the One UI 8.5 software update.

Does Gen Z use Facebook in 2026? If yes, list the reasons why you use Facebook.

It seems that Instagram is far more popular among Gen Z. But those who do use Facebook, why do you use it?

Which display type is the most likely to face green line issue in Samsung Galaxy devices?

Based on Samsung forums here: https://r1.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s/screen-displays/m-p/30216573/highlight/true#M40161

>Dynamic 2X AMOLED, LTPO Dynamic AMOLED, or Super AMOLED+ (A73, A71, M51) all of these prone to green line issue
only Super AMOLED (no plus) on most A series device such as A55, A54, A53, A35, A34, A33, etc strong enough to to suffer green line issue, also AMOLED display (no Super, no plus) in galaxy fit3 also great against green line

  • display types which are more prone to be affected with green lines: Dynamic 2X AMOLED, LTPO Dynamic AMOLED, or Super AMOLED+ Plus
  • less likely to be affected with green lines: Super AMOLED (without plus), IPS LCD, PLC LCD

For your reference, you can find which type of display is used in the Samsung smartphone based on GSMArena website.

I searched online in reddit for the green line issues based on the model and the display type in GSMArena, and I found it generally holds true. The green line issue usually occurs during 2 year old mark. I wonder if this is a manufacturing defect in these type of displays, I'm not sure.

Guide to stop Facebook suggested friends based on location or physical proximity or someone you met in person (privacy friendly way to use Facebook)

Did you meet someone only to find the same person appear in your suggested friends list later on? I experienced this while taking a walk and it spooked me. Why does this happen? While I can't prove it definitively, I suspect a possible reason: if you have a Facebook or Instagram app installed on your phone, and have enabled Bluetooth, turned on Wi‑Fi or the "Wi‑Fi scanning" option (hidden somewhere in Android's settings), then Facebook will recommend nearby people based on location (most likely, but can't prove it).

To stop this from occurring, the best approach is to uninstall the Facebook app and use Facebook through your phone's web browser instead (preferably a privacy‑oriented browser such as Firefox or Brave).
Using Facebook in a browser offers better privacy than running the official app from Google Play or Apple App Store.

Before you start, don't uninstall Facebook app or Instagram app right away. Follow these steps, wait a week or two, then log out from your Facebook app and finally uninstall the app completely.

I followed these steps and they seem to have worked:

  1. Install the Firefox or Brave browser from Google Play or Apple App Store.
  2. Log into your Facebook or Instagram accounts inside that browser.
  3. The login may trigger a push notification in the native Facebook app asking you to approve; tap "Approve." If it says "Facebook is better on the app," always click "Not now."
  4. In the browser's top‑right corner, tap the hamburger menu and select "Add page to Home screen"; then tap "Install" (this creates a Progressive Web App).
  5. To block ads on your home page, add the uBlock Origin extension in Firefox on your phone. Note that Brave does not support extensions, so ad blocking isn't available there.
  6. The browser cannot run Facebook Messenger directly. Work‑around to fix this: open the hamburger menu in your browser and choose "Desktop site." You can switch back to normal mode by disabling Desktop site later.
  7. If you have a laptop/desktop, you can login to Facebook or Instagram in your browser.
  8. Waait for a week or two (so that Facebook treats the browser login as a trusted device), then you can log out from Facebook app and completely uninstall that app.

Hope this guide helps you using Facebook or Instagram in a privacy friendly way.
