A lot of children are being failed by their parents academically

I’ve thought this for a while, especially working in a school.
My mum was one of these parents but she grew up going to boarding school and past age 6, I was doing work by myself so it didn’t matter. My brother, on the other hand, was a child who needed constant surveillance with school work and since my parents both did 12 hour shifts, it just wasn’t feasible.

I have a cousin (she’s my uncle’s girlfriend’s daughter so it’s just easier to call her my cousin). Recently, her mum and my uncle were talking to me about her results and how they were disappointed and they wanted me to tutor her. Yesterday, my uncle just says oh I’ll be bringing her over to do work. There’s no plan, no sending over the curriculum, nothing. I asked him and he just said her mum didn’t know. How are you upset with your child and their grades but are not invested at all??

Luckily, she does her homework on an online platform so I’m helping her go through her tasks. Not only has she not done any of the work she was meant to do over summer, she also wasn’t completing her homework before the summer break. This was weeks and weeks of no homework.

Yes, it’s annoying to have to sit down with your child and do homework but it’s also the bare minimum. If you can’t do that, then how are you expecting them to do well? I also doubt her school hasn’t contacted her mum because this is next level of not doing homework. It’s just sad that she’s being blamed for not doing well. For context, she’s only 11. So it’s not like the maths is really hard at this point. It’s just instilling such a bad attitude to academics as well like the whole thing is pissing me off.

How to differentiate between claircognizance, intuition, and pattern recognition?

Something has happened to me recently that has really sparked my interest in this. Before, I would sort of just say that I’m quite an intuitive person. It typically happens like I just get a really random thought and then almost immediately after I’m proven right.

At times it’s been things like me being in the shower and I’m like oh my package is going to come right now so I should probably come out. Except in my head it’s phrased as either a “what if x happened?” Or just a knowing. The thing about the what if questions is that it feels different to my intrusive thoughts that come with such visceral emotion. It’s more like if I were joking with a friend and I’m like “what if I did x” and just did x. Not sure if that makes sense.

Another example was when my brother got shot and I was just like he’s going to be fine. I wasn’t just saying that to reassure people or calm myself down because I was still upset but I just knew he wasn’t going to die?

What’s made me want to delve deeper however is today as I was crossing an overpass by my house I noticed a woman and I had the sort of “what if she jumped” come into my mind. I ended up walking past her and she did jump once I got to the other side. Of course, this could just have been me subconsciously picking up on microexpressions and what not. But I think there’s a small part of me that thinks that it could be something like my intuition/ some psychic gift idk. I just felt so guilty after. I know that even if I knew I had that gift and tried to talk her out of it/ support her it may not have even changed anything.

Anyways, for anyone who is clairvoyant/ claircognizant/ intuitive/ psychic, I’d just like to know how you discovered that about yourself and were certain.

Life is hard, why make it harder?

I’ve been thinking a lot about my reasons for being childfree especially as now I have two close friends who have their own children. Sometimes they ask me if I’d ever have my own and I’m not sure why I’ve hesitated to answer honestly.

I can recognise some nice things about having a child but I think my main reasoning is that being a GOOD parent is hard. Pregnancy is hard. Dealing with new born is so hard. Recovering from giving birth is hard. It’s probably exacerbated by my ADHD but the thought of being responsible for another being just seems like so much extra work. I can’t even commit to having a pet because of the time and finances let alone a human being.

I know that all reasons for being childfree are valid but I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way/ similar.

Mental struggles with knee injury

Context: my doctor has said I have
- patella alta with lateralised patella
- lateral fat pad impingement
-it band syndrome
- mild chrondomalacia patallae

Been struggling with knee pain for the past year and a bit since a knee sprain/ dislocation.

I’ve been struggling mentally due to weight gain, other pain in my body, working at a job I hated then quitting said job, and just generally not being able to do hobbies like walking, gym, and pole dancing.

Recently, I’ve been having the urge to self harm by doing things to flare up my injury. I’ve been able to resist but today I did a wall sit for 2 and a half minutes just to make things worse. I get thoughts that I should just smash my knee with a hammer or fall down the stairs. I’m not sure why it is. Maybe frustration and especially when it feels like such “low-level” pain. Idk. Just hoping I’m not alone.

Pain during sleep paralysis?

I woke up and tried to move my body and felt this blinding pain each time. When I was finally out of the sleep paralysis I noticed I was fine but it was really odd and I wondered if this was common?

I don’t have sleep paralysis often but it’s always kind of frightening when I do.

Is it also common to have auditory or tactile hallucinations during sleep paralysis? Because sometimes I can’t tell if it’s just a very vivid dream upon waking or sleep paralysis .

Breakouts during longer fasts?

I’ve noticed that when I fast longer than 7 days, I get these darker spots around my eyebrows and mainly mouth. They’re not pimples and they’re very dry. I later found out the best way to deal with them was to use an excessive amount of cream till they sort of peel off. Is this normal/ has anyone else gone through this?

I don’t know what’s wrong with me or how to move forward

A week ago, I’d met a guy who I’ve been flirting with to chill at his house. I wanted to take a nap and he was like “come on let’s do this quickly and then you can nap”. I wasn’t super into it at that point but thought why not? I might as well. It was meant to be a 20 minute nap and I ended up sleeping for 2-3 hours. When I woke up again we tried again, with lots more lube this time and I asked him to reciprocate whilst I was helping him get an erection because previously he kinda just went straight in and it hurt.

Whilst we were going at it, I kept stopping him to tell him it hurt, and suggesting we try different positions. Eventually he just held my hands behind my back and kept me there till he was finished. I cried so much after, both in front of him and in his bathroom and all he had to say was “I didn’t know it hurt you that bad”.

Looking back I think I know that wasn’t okay but I just want to forget it.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me because I still think I’m sexually attracted to men and interested in sexual intimacy with them. And then I start blaming myself for being in that position and not advocating for myself.

I think long term abstinence may help or at least avoiding men. It’s just insane to me that despite all of this, I still have a high drive and I’m still interested in men.

Best way to do Marley twists over locs

For my birthday I want to do Marley twists over my locs, I’ll be 9 months locked by then. I’ve done like “soft” retwists myself but was thinking to get them properly retwisted and then use Marley hair to two strand twist after.

Would it be best to ask my loctician to do the twists for me? And which brands would be best to use?

First two pics are the inspo and the last is my own locs!
