Make curvy jeans curvy again (rant)

I haven’t bought new jeans in a few years but I have bought jeans almost exclusively from AE for forever. I loved their curvy jeans but it seems like they are no longer made for curvy measurements. My store only had 4 different styles of curvy jeans (all stovepipe jeans which I am not totally sure what that means) and every. single. one. was still way too big in the waist. Meanwhile I am WEARING a pair of AE curvy jeans that fits perfectly that I bought about 3 years ago. Really sad because I think I’ll have to start looking for other places to buy jeans after being an AE customer for so long. Is it just me, am I trying on the wrong style, or has something changed?!

How long after *possibly* ingesting dental floss is my dog in the clear?

My 4 year old cocker spaniel got into my bathroom trash yesterday. I caught him tearing up some tissues but I think there’s a possibility he might have eaten dental floss. I didn’t actually see him eat it, but when I went back through the trash to see what else was missing I thought there was not as much floss in there as there should have been. It would have been 1 or 2 strips of dental floss, maybe 12-18 inches long each.

I took him to the emergency vet and they induced vomiting. By the time he actually vomited it was about 2 hours after he went through the trash. There was no floss, tissue remnants, or anything else identifiable in his vomit (except for a strand of my hair). He ate about 4 hours before inducing vomiting so he vomited the remains of his dinner and that was it.

The vet explained to me the risks of “linear foreign bodies” and told me to monitor him for signs of GI distress - vomiting, lethargy, stomach pain, etc. and to check his poop for floss. But since I’m not even completely sure he ate any floss, there isn’t a guarantee I will ever see it come out. How long would you expect it to take for him to pass the floss if he did eat it, and at what point can we safely say he’s in the clear? In other words if he doesn’t pass anything and doesn’t have any symptoms when is it safe to conclude that he just didn’t eat any floss?

Did I accidentally dilute my drug test?!

I took a DOT urine drug test yesterday. I wasn’t trying to dilute it and didn’t need to worry about failing, but I have a shy bladder and was concerned about peeing enough. I woke up at 7am and started sipping water throughout the morning. My test was at 11:15. Between 7am and 11am I probably had 32oz of water total. I didn’t drink coffee or anything else. I had used the bathroom a couple times in the morning but I held my pee starting at 9am because I was worried if I peed soon before the test I wouldn’t be able to go again.

When I took the test my sample was a very pale yellow. It still had a little color but I was surprised by how light it was, and I was almost disappointed in myself. I wanted it to be a solid dark yellow so I didn’t have to worry about the possibility of redoing the test.

Does anyone have any input or experience about whether I may have accidentally diluted the test and if I should expect a retest? Has anyone passed with a barely yellow sample? TIA.

Is it ok to do “pre marital counseling” as newlyweds?

My wedding is in a little under 3 months! My fiancé and I have a pretty healthy relationship overall but like any relationship there are weak points and areas where we can improve. We both want to do pre-marital counseling to be better partners to each other and have the healthiest marriage possible, but we are SO busy right now and the last thing we need is another thing on our plate. On top of planning a wedding, we both had to unexpectedly change jobs in the last couple months, his job is more demanding schedule wise, and we’re just feeling very overwhelmed with it all. So we are thinking we might just wait until after the wedding chaos is over to start that.

Is it common for people to do pre-marital counseling after the wedding? Do you think it would still be effective and helpful? What’s the difference between pre-marital counseling and just general couples therapy?

Any tips or advice appreciated. TIA!

Is late October a good time for whale watching?

I’m planning my honeymoon for the last week of October and would love to go whale watching during our stop in Monterey. Do I have a good chance of seeing some whales and if so what species? Any specific organizations I should book with?

Any other recommendations for things to do in the Monterey area are welcome! We are also interested in the aquarium and the monarch butterfly sanctuary since I believe we will be there during migrations season!

Question about LWOP status

I am a new federal employee wondering about LWOP. Long story short, I unexpectedly had to transition from a contract position to a GS. The problem is I’m getting married in 3 months and was planning to take 3 weeks off for the wedding and honeymoon. I had several weeks of vacation time saved up at my previous job, and obviously with the transition to the GS role I am losing all of that and starting over. I won’t have nearly enough leave to cover my time off later this year. I’m wondering if LWOP is an option to avoid having to postpone my honeymoon. Can anyone advise on whether LWOP is worth it or whether it is likely to be approved for this case? Or if I have any other options, like maybe requesting an advance on next year’s leave? TIA.

PSA: Fiber for THC detox

Hello all, just wanted to share something I learned recently that may help people.

My partner has a really important drug test coming up for a job. He was a daily user of THC and after stopping for over 8 weeks he was still struggling to pass the home drug tests (we use easy @ home brand, these are ol reliable for us). He would fail the tests when dehydrated and get the faintest of ghost lines when overhydrated. After doing some research I suggested he try incorporating more fiber into his diet. For the last few days he’s been drinking a prebiotic soda every day (the ones with 9g of fiber per can) and taking a few metamucil capsules before every meal. Today for the first time he passed a home test while dehydrated!

I started thinking about this when I was researching the certo method. Certo is fruit pectin, which is basically just soluble fiber, and theoretically it works by temporarily drawing THC metabolites into the intestines so they can be eliminated in the feces instead of urine. So I thought, wouldn’t eating more fiber in general also help? I went down a rabbit hole and saw a couple of older posts on this sub talking about fiber being useful for THC detox. A lot of the THC metabolites in your intestines end up being reabsorbed into your bloodstream, but if you’re eating a lot of fiber, especially soluble fiber, the metabolites bind to the fiber and stay in your intestines instead of getting reabsorbed. More metabolites in your intestines means less in your urine, which means you’re more likely to pass a urine test.

I’m not 100% sure that the fiber is what caused him to start passing. Maybe it’s a coincidence, he was already getting borderline results before. And we will keep taking tests at different times of day to see if the progress continues. But I just wanted to put this out there because everyone seems to be focused on drinking a ton of water, exercising, etc and that is all great but I don’t see a lot of people talking about fiber.

TLDR: If you have some time before your test I recommend increasing your dietary fiber to cut down on detox time!

NOTE: it’s important to stay hydrated and follow the dosage recommendations on fiber supplements to avoid any medical problems from overconsuming fiber!

Am I obligated to pay an annual fee that’s not in the lease? [FL]

My landlord uses Pet Screening to register pets that live in the complex. When I first made an account and registered my dog before moving in, I had to pay a $30 fee on the Pet Screening website. I was under the impression this was a one-time fee, but it turns out you have to “renew” your profile every year and pay the same fee again. There is no mention in the lease about the Pet Screening registration process or fees. This is on top of the non-refundable pet deposit and monthly pet rent we pay, which are specifically stated in the lease. My profile is expired now, am I obligated to renew it and pay the $30 if it’s not in the lease?

What happens if you resubmit an application without making any changes?

I accidentally resubmitted my application a couple of times without making any changes to the documents or survey questions. I was trying to update my resume and only successfully got to the updated file on my 3rd try for some reason. Will the hiring manager see duplicate submissions and copies of all my documents? Don’t want my application to be annoying or tedious for them. It’s not a limited number of applicants so losing my place in line is not a concern.

I have a medical condition that would qualify me to use cannabis medicinally, which is legal in my state. But my job has a random drug test policy (non DOT) and previously they did not make any exceptions for medical use due to the Schedule I legal status so I haven’t been able to get one. But now it seems like state-licensed medical cannabis products have been officially moved to Schedule III. I’m wondering whether that will allow me to get a medical card without having to worry about any repercussions for my job. For example, I know if you’re taking a controlled substance with a prescription that shows up on a drug test (ie Adderall), all you have to do is provide proof of your prescription to the testing facility and the test will be reported as a pass. The employer won’t even know about your prescription. Will medical cards be treated the same way now? Or is it too soon to know how people in my situation will be affected?

TIA for any responses and input.
